FullMetal Alchemist
#1
Guys! There's a new FullMetal Alchemist coming out! Who's looking forward to it?

Wikipedia Wrote:In the 20th manga volume, Arakawa announced that a second Fullmetal Alchemist anime television series is currently being produced. Earlier speculation from a purported document leaks has Bones again acting as the production company and Yasuhiro Irie taking over as the series director.[20] The title series is expected to premier in April 2009 with the same name of the previous series.[21]

I'm psyched!

Yes, and I'm quite excited. It's said to be a reboot adaptation of the manga, since the anime diverted vastly from the original story. I hope that's true, because I love the manga version of the story. <3

And according to Moon Phase, it's going to be in the same time slot as Code Geass R2 is in currently (which Gundam00 2 is taking over in two weeks).

I never got a chance to watch all of the first season, I watched it in bits and pieces on Adult Swim xD.

I'll probably have to watch the first season again but I am very interested in watching the second season.

Wow... someone likes dub?

Dear God...

No matter how good they said the English dub is okay for this anime, I still hate dub overall. Makes my ears bleed...

You're just being picky. This dub is one of the better ones. Far above and beyond the terribleness that justifiably drives animu nuts away from dubs. Dragon Ball Z, this is not. True, it's not the Holy Grail of dubbed anime, but it's not bad either.

Actually, in FMA, the voice actor of Edward Elric is actually really good in the dubbed version. I watch dubs sometimes to seek comparison, and FMA is one of the few animes out there I like watching as 'dubs' because of their voice actors/actresses. I liked Gundam Wing's and G-Gundam's too, actually.

Dub/sub elitism pisses me. TV is meant for WATCHING, not READING. Who gives a sh'it if it's not the original Japanese VA? You can't understand a damn thing he says anyway.

Frankly, if the dub is good quality, I'll love it just as much. But I think you don't realize why so many people hate dubbed anime.

A) The voice actors usually suck. Plain and simple. They suck. They're low quality, bad directing, general not caring, etc.

B) When it comes over here to America, it not only gets dubs, it almost always gets edited (censored, deleted parts, etc).

FMA does have a pretty decent English dub. But go and watch the original and then compare it to the dubbed version. I guarantee you're going to find plenty has been edited out, which is just plain stupid.

Sometimes when a show is dubbed, a LOT of things are changed. Watching DBZ with subtitles is drastically different than dubs; the mood is entirely different and character motivations deviate a lot. Simple things like changes in inflection or slight script changes can TOTALLY change the entire thing.

And that's to say nothing of shows which are cut to hell and back. Look at One Piece before Funimation got their hands on it. Ironically, even DBZ had this massive cut treatment by Funimation themselves in its original release, but the recent DVD release is a LOT better.

Subtitles are better sometimes, but the sad part is that some folks suck subs' dicks so hard that they refuse to acknowledge how great a select group of dubs can be.

And actually, those of us who know some Japanese can actually understand it to a degree. That's not to say I would watch a Japanese language anime with subtitles off, but the knowledge helps me to understand it better.

Omg. I've been waiting for more Full Metal Alchemist stuff. I'm glad to see that it's finally coming. I think I'd rather watch a dub though, just because I watched the entire first series in english.

Learn Japanese then.
I can watch anime without subs with no problem =____=
then again, I am simply used to reading subs o.o
Last sir, for your information, some people actually rely on subtitles even for English shows to completely understand the dialogues. Everyone is different, if you like dubs, it's your thing. It's just not everyone's cup of tea, you know. I thought the voices for animations determines the personality and moods for the characters. Some dub voices are drastically different to the original, thus changes the presumed personality of the said character. I believe there are good VAs in America, but they just need to have better work enviroment than what they currently have.
