Beast Tamer discussion thread
PoetryIsFail Wrote:You can stack it as high as you want for skills that are below their mastery levels iirc

On my Paladin I used to be able to get up to..

+2 from hat
+2 from wombat orders
+2 from empress set 5
+2 from some other source

All I remember is being able to get level 28 MW when its base sp was 20.

It should be noted though that the extra sp boost to skills doesn't apply to pre requisites

I.e. I need 30 sp in charged blow to put points in advanced charge, this 30 sp has to all be BASE sp. I've never played a beast tamer so I'm not sure how their skills work but this would probably stop +skills usage.

The only pre-requisites for Beast Tamer is 1 point in at least each skill, but a certain number of points in each skill. It'd just take calculations on how many points you can actually save and how much you need, because to get most skills, you have to have a certain amount invested into your previous skills.

Couple more observations:

- Prior to getting Roar, Macho Slam actually grants you invincibility frames. The moment you get the Roar skill, you will always take touch damage on landing on the ground. If you want your iFrames, you must keep using Macho Dance, but not against the wall.
- Lil' Bro, much like BaM's Reaper skill, grants a chance to summon a cub on killing a mob. It's really good for grinding.
- There are no pre-requisites for the advanced skills e.g. Advanced Thunder Dash doesn't require maxed Thunder Dash. Very... inconsistent type of skill coding/design.
- It ain't called "growth spurt" for no good reason... because it has a spurt of growth, then slows down alot.
- BT base mastery is 20%. Just sayin'

Going through the story I did remember one thing I despise. For a lot of what you do in magatia you have to travel A LOT. I had to go to NLC, get on the metro, get on a plane, pay 100k to get into the blackwing lair, kill 5 enemies, go back to town, get back on the plane, get on another plane, get on ANOTHER plane, and warp back to magatia via the cab. For one quest! You have to do it around 3-5 times. By the end of that I should have gotten a VIP gold card for my own instant private plane.

While it overlaps with the heliseum questline, my least favourite questline ever was the Velderoth prequests.

Go kill some specters!
return to Carson
Go kill some more specters!
return to Carson
Go kill some more specters!
return to Carson
Go collect some items!.... from specters!

Always the same monsters every time, always the same amount that you have to kill. You have to go back and forth constantly from the heliseum base and the tyrants castle. Just... eurgh.
Sometimes I really hate maple for it's quests. So many of them require you to go back and kill more of whatever you have just been killing for the previous quests, it's what I hated so much about the Chryse quests as well.

Of course, "kill normal Magnus" takes the absolute cake on bullshit quest requirements.

You don't have to do any of that if you follow the basic travel pattern. Pantheon Portal takes you to any town you want. Getting around is really easy.

So I don't know if I miscalculated, but if you get:

+2 level from empress
+1 from leafre code
+1 from A rank nebulite

Can't you max out all 3 animals completely? Heck that's not even grazing the surfance tbh, with decent combat orders and +2 to all skills from potential, couldn't you potentially max out every animal?

BTW I maxed out leopard first then reset points into bear. I got the leaperd medel, it gives +6 magic att +5 accuracy and something else I forgot. Not a bad medal and I like how it looks.

EDIT: Okay i forgot about sp requiremnts per animal. In order to get each ultimate you need 170 sp invested in each animal.

So basically you can get 3 maxed animals and half of the 4th.

Party Time, the Leopard Skill says it requires 190 SP to unlock. I haven't invested any SP into Leopard so i don't know if that is true or just a typo since the rest seem to say 170.

How do you get these "Leopard" medals and that 3% Boss damage medal?

You get a medal for each animal when you get their ultimate (last skill).

The Leopard has 6matk, the Bear has 3matk and 3% Boss, and the other two aren't really worth mentioning.

You just max out the last skill for an animal to get its corresponding medal.

I don't even think it has to be maxed out. Just one point should suffice.

Can confirm it's only one point since I got it when I put points in Flip the Table (or w/e it's called). Either that or it's a certain total of Animal SP, but I think that's less likely.

SO...I want to try something out with those cs resets.

However, I'm afraid that if I use them, I'll lose the extra sp I obtained from the sp potions. I know this used to be an issue with DB skills whenever they were resetted. Wondering if anyone resetted and are missing the extra sp?

It's definitely when you put 1 point into their final skill. I had the absolute minimum points in Cat form when I got the medal for it, so it's not due to a certain total.

I used one and got those skill points too.

Does anyone know what the empress/fafnir weapon is called, so I can use an owl to help search for one?
Also has the whole not being able to get the sp reset thing been fixed yet?

Kitten Tail Scepter and Fafnir Scepter, respectively.
It was in the extraction thread, that's usually the first place you should look for stuff like that, especially when it's new.

And no, it hasn't been fixed, but it's been added to the known bugs list.
