I don't like the classes with heavy weapons who just swing their weapons around. The only thing on Ravager that looks appealing to me is when they do the spin attack, and the jump to enemy + downwards slash attack. I like halberd type weapons because they usually come with those multiple stab attacks (I think old dark knight did something similar), spinning the weapon around their arms or overhead (like new dark knight) and then of course weapon strokes that look like they are in some sort of graceful fighting style, not just swinging weapons into people's faces with rage and random grunting. Scythes usually look pretty graceful, which is why I would use them as well. Random point I just realized, this is why I like to play as Neji or Hinata in naruto games, because their attacks usually flow into the next one.

I started with Duelist, but they way they fight is a bit... I don't know, extra? The first skills you get involve you already flying around the air in a flurry of blades. That's cool and all, but it just seems extra... Only word I can really think of. I didn't get too far, but I'm guessing the skills just get cooler from there, and I remember one skill was a blade tornado kinda thing, so I'll probably go with duelist again unless the scythe or claw character is out.

Coogi; I support your choice of Siren.

Dredragon; Blade tornado? I don't remember that...oh, do you mean Whirling Blade? The vertical spinning attack. Anything beyond that isn't particularly flashy or anything. You get this move that kinda looks like you're lunging forward three times in quick succession, and another skill that makes you slash quite a lot of times while recovering HP. Both of these are pretty decent for mobbing, though their ranges are short, of course.

Anyway, I can understand your pain, but then again I find that quite a few animations chain together pretty nicely. Like Slash Cut to Cross Slash for example.

EDIT: Okay, let's all go with Siren. I'll start off with my Sorc Alucina. I hear that making a guild requires 10G or so. Let's pool money for it. I'll probably only be able to start playing on Wednesday though.

Count me in. I think I'm going to try the priest class out, depending on how many people choose it

You mean Bard? I'll be subbing Bard on my Sorc, but then again having someone main Bard would be very nice.

Little over two more hours. Can't wait. I'm still not sure what class i wanna make. I kinda wanna make the gunslinger again but sub sorc or cannoner this time, the duelist was nice as a sub but it's not that great to boss/dungeon it's good at grinding though.

I'll be downloading it while I sleep tonight, so won't be playing until tomorrow. Not quite sure what class I'll be making yet.

Someone explain the subbing concept quick time for me? Tongue ./too lazy to google

Also which server are we going on? I don't remember if we made a decision, and going back a page or three is obviously out of the question.

At Lv40 you get a quest that allows you to pick a secondary class. This allows you to learn that class's skills, but with their level requirements boosted so you learn the first at Lv40.

Some other stuff:

- You can subclass anything. Anything.

- Some class combinations allow you to learn special skills via the Envoy's Path (passive skill tree). These skills, while somewhat powerful, also have a stupidly long cooldown of 2 mins. Most of them aren't worth the point.

- Speaking of cooldowns, to balance things so that subclasses can never be better than that same class mained, all subclass skills have their cooldowns tripled.

- You also get access to the subclass's Ultimate Skills (another set of passive that don't require skill points. You can only equip one per category though).

- You do NOT gain access to the subclass's Envoy's Path. This means that you can't learn any class exclusive passives on it, including the bonuses on the starting tile, so choose wisely.

We're going with Siren. Coogi just mentioned it in passing soooo...

There are a few guides on the AK forums, but the general consensus is that you should try stuff out and go with what suits your chosen playstyle best.

I suggest that you start planning your Envoy's Path first, because that can make or break a character.

Char Sim: http://reyva.com/simulators/akcs/

As for stats...

ATK points: Generally there's no point getting CRIT if your class isn't built for it (check the Envoy's Path's starting tile, the one dead center).

Continuing from my previous post (damn the migration):

SPD is good cos it cuts cooldowns and raises attack speed. Pick either CRIT or SPD and run with it till it's capped or at a decent level (50% is pretty nice; SPD caps at 60% IIRC). Note that percentages are more or less based on expected stat value for your level, so it will drop as you level up if you stop adding points into it. Anyway, once you're capped or you've hit a decent value, add points to DMG (or the other stat if you wish).

DEF points: EVA is mainly for PvP and DEF for PvE, HP works just as well for both of course. As with ATK points, cap one or get it high, then dump the rest into HP. EVA caps at 95% and DEF caps at 75%.

Of course, these are just guidelines, feel free to adjust your build as you wish.

With the right sigils and crafted equipment, it's very possible to cap all your stats (except DMG and HP, which don't appear to have caps). DEF is the easiest to cap, because fortifying equipment only raises DMG (weapons) and DEF (Armour).

This game looks like fun. Already signed up and started downloading.
One question though, will I have my character wiped out during any point from now on?

They already wiped the characters, they have no plan to wipe them anymore.

Wait, in the patch notes, it literally says

• Gear for the Katar class may drop. This class is unreleased at this time.

Well at least they're not trying to hide any classes are they?

By the way, anybody sure what Eidolon to take as a start character? I heared that the healer is basicly the most useful one with it's small, but decent healing skill. Even when it gets replaced by 25 rather easily...
