I wonder why Nexon even thinks tradeblocks are good for investigating

You tradeblock someone with 500 no boom aees? They can get rid of the no boom AEEs by using them. Plus they can still loot things...

If he came up with that nickname for himself, can't wait to hear what he names his baby Rolleyes

You're incredibly naïve if you think an entire game can be overhauled at any point after release.

And you're incredibly silly if you can't think of at least two games where this has been done.

Looking forward to finding out how many people stay banned...

My ranking went up ~10% at level 200 which is something like a thousand characters.

Obviously some like lnmatesearch are unrelated but I expect most are the hellbans from this event.

Despite the cold hard fact that a complete coding overhaul is neigh to impossible, it is still the deepest change that would solve many of the problems present. It is not to say that a game cannot use old codes -- the problem is that the methods to deal with the problems in the code are mainly superficial and are but symptomatic relief. It is not solving the root of the problem.

I don't blame Nexon for making a game that is far from perfect. What disappoints me is how they do things. But for us players, a game is dead only if we give up hope on them (for whatever reasons, but especially if it is doomed to fail.

hadriel Wrote:For example, this game is very client-server transaction intensive, even though the overall bandwidth is relatively small. Most actions require this, and is unavoidable, but this puts latency-high players at a major disadvantage -- a player with a latency will never win a player with very low latency in the New Year traditional game with the falling food thing even with the point stealing trick. It simply isn't data-efficient. Some other issues include the inability to pot when looting, just to name other small quibbles.

Actually, the main problem of the game is that it's not client-server communication intensive enough.
The client does a lot of work on its own, and then tells the server concisely what happened, and the server accepts it as gospel.
Over the years this has led to such things as teleport/fly hacks (because local map movement is done by the client), no-delay and full-map-attack hacks (because attacking is done by the client), vac hacks (because mob movement is handled by the clients), and so on. Nexon patches these on a case by case basis, adding checks that what the client says makes sense (which gives rise to hilarious inconsistencies like killing an enemy when your client shows you MISSing it, and failing to kill when you hit way over its HP), but there's always one more hole.

The game would be a lot less hackable if every keystroke and mouseclick were sent to the server, who would then decide what happens as a result of that action. The client would only handle the display.
Unfortunately, this would make the game impossible for anyone not at a Korean level of connectivity.

It is a solution, but already it is close to unplayable for me... I sometimes loot at a rate of >>1s/item. Now for quests involving collecting 100's of items. Sigh.

I know the feeling. I'm 10 time zones away from Los Angeles. Looting pet is the only solution I've found to that one (and I only have one on my main). Games like the Kite Runner, I don't even try. At least it's not mainstream content, just an event.

Ditto for me, except that I still do games like Kite Runner because the source of the coin is independent of your winnings (yes you can get coins from the bag but that's a chance-y thing which gives a small contribution). The rewards are great because you can trade in 12 blue coins for 10 yellow coins, and so have more coins to get the 60% innocence scrolls. Seriously, playing 10 yut games gets close to painful, and that's on 1 char. I won't play on 24 chars...

Also, I'm 16 time zones away =P (or 8 time zones counting backwards hahaha).

So why did Nexon have to make the Cash shop inventory so exclusive and non-sharable... I play so many chars...

street Wrote:This dupe was not as easy to do compared to other dupes in the past. The dupe era when everyone and their mothers could have dupe by just setting up shop and waiting for the servers to crash was a wide spread impact. Those dupe made items more widespread in the community, this dupe didn't make ANYTHING SPREAD in that magnitude! Do you remember the chaos scroll dupe? That is a dupe i consider to be wide spread. The list goes on and on with past dupes that had a larger impact than this one.

How the hell are you going to sit here and say everyone in the game is now going to own 15 star items and 200 boss nebs? Last time i checked i still dont have those items! They are still expensive and out of my reach since they been released.

Also regarding dojo times those have been a joke for a while. The top ones have either been hackers or the highly dedicated maplers. So what if they now have 5 more people to compete with for dojo gloves nothing has change.

Stop posting your bs about all these ee and boss nebs as stove stated the items have been in circulation low key. Show me a shop with all these boss nebs for sale

Go to scania fm and look for the nebs. 'Everyone and their mothers' has/has used duped nebs.
Took me fkn 1 minute to enter a fm and click 5 shops with duped stuff in it.
 Spoiler
Let alone the people who wait for the prices to go up and people who put a single neb in their shop while they have 100 in their inventory.

Have you even seen dojo times?
My friend did something like 11 min yesterday and he didn't even get his gloves?!

How have these items been circulated low key?!?
Many dupers have been refilling their shops with 1000's of aee's/nebs/etc for days selling it for as low as 500k-2m.

I've yet to see a single person who has bought a shitload of duped stuff to be hellbanned in scania.
100% of the people I know who used duped stuff got away with it.

Why would you crop out the names of the characters who are selling those items? What use is that in terms of getting these players banned?
We can't do anything about it without that information.

I thought it would be considered implying that someone is a hacker, which is against the rules here, just like on ms forums, right?

Quote:Accusations
Point Value: 1 point
Definition: "Posting a claim that someone is a hacker, troll, or mult. Or claiming that someone has been reported."
Additional Comment: The following examples are exceptions to this rule: 1. This rule does not apply to moderators or administrators, 2. Reporting someone for trolling does not invoke this rule. The following examples do count: Saying something to the effect of "Reported for trolling", or saying someone lives under bridges or acts in the general manner of mythical trolls. This also includes comments similar to "Reported for X, enjoy your Y".

It's just a screenshot, so I imagine not, but I've seen warnings for less in the past so I dunno actually.
Either way, if you can screenshot that shop with the character name in it and send it as a ticket they will find it, I'm browsing Scania FM doing the same right now, found 2 shops so far.

I just don't see why they can't just tell 1 employee to enter the fm do that tho?
I mean ok, I got nothing better to do right now.
I'll search fm for the shops/screenshot it and send them a ticket, not like it's that much work anyway >_>

BTW, you should look for Gollux rings with 7 scrolled slots and legendary potential. They are duped as well. They usually have 21% dex.

Quote:e use it as a last resort. Unfortunately, with this duping incident, we found that the original dupers had privately impacted the service under the radar with low levels of duplications well before December 31. Most likely, they went public with the hack to mask their own efforts and/or it leaked.

I wonder if they know that they do this everytime a dupe is made public, they do it in private for a while then release it. I thought most people knew this for years now? heck, I remember some of the first rollbacks and the people who had them in private would even say this, lol.
