Seriously, what message is nexon sending to the average player. It is just showing that you can cheat and nothing will happen to you. Earlier this month they banned the dupers for less than 48 hours and then unbanned them. A few months back they mass unbanned TONS of hackers, because they had run off most the legit players with their lack of concern over the glitches and bugs in the game and its bosses. This is just a huge Pomegranate YOU LEGIT PLAYERS from nexon.

I don't know why anyone is surprised given that they've handled hackers the same way since 2006.

I just used two more owls checking on 4% all nebs and no-boomer enhancements. There were only two vendors of each, and the prices were higher than I recall last week. Maybe Nexon really did catch most of the duped goods.

Duped mesos are my prime concern. They didn't mention them at all.

Well it's that given the hackers more or less had a whole weekends worth of time to screw with the economy, it'd be very hard for Nexon to track down and find all the hackers/duped items. Therefore, it'd be far easier, while annoying, to just rollback. Kind of like why pick each flea off a dog when you can just bathe the whole dog in flea-killing soap water.

There's two differences (not necessarily the main differences, just listing two). Maplestory still has lots of players, and they actually advertise the game. DFO never truly got fat with a huge ass player base where everyone and their mom played DFO, and had to live off of itself until it was too weak to carry on. The success of a game usually correlates with how well known it is to someone who never touched the game. Another difference, Maplestory is too big a cashcow to simply pull the plug. It's like taking priority over caring for your MVP even when you side player(s) are in far worse condition than he/she is.

He's just arguing for a rollback, which is not what nexon has decided to do.

I honestly think people are overreacting.
I know I'm not in one of the servers that got hit hard by this, and I do agree that they handled this all extremely poorly, but the market should work itself out over time. It's not the end of the world.

Whilst it may not seem like it, there are a lot more casual players who aren't majorly affected by the dupes.

While I am not part of this group you describe, the more I think about it, the more accurate this statement becomes. You're getting a lot of flak for the statements, but it's probably for the part I omitted being received as an insult or contrary to how the people you describe feel.

Let's take No-Boom AEE or 25% Boss Nebulite as an example, I'd say less than 5% of Maplestory players can actually afford them so that immediately axes those from impacting them. Duplicated mesos? This is much more impactful to the casual player but not necessarily game breaking for them, the Empress armor, etc. they are striving for probably isn't going to inflate much. Hackers aren't buying out stores just to buy them out, are they? These casual players aren't worried about getting perfect Tyrants or beating Hell Gollux or Normal Magnus, they would be happy just successfully finishing a Grosso Polpo.

However, it is terribly unfair to folks in the upper echelon of the game with Enhanced Tyrants and thriving businesses. This severely depreciates their net worth, no doubt about that. What are my Boss Nebulites and No-Boom AEE worth when there are potentially thousands floating around? My mesos?

Nexon also should have rolled back, that is undoubted in my mind. The people they should be worried about, NX heavy players, are the ones being most affected by this. The same people that downvoted YennoX will likely agree, as much as the people who upvoted will disagree with selective catering, but Nexon cannot choose now to be the arbiter of the "big tent," looking out for all Maplers when truthfully, as YennoX is probably trying to state, this devastatingly affects only a relatively few number of people. Look up the term relatively and think about it before jumping the gun on the word "few".

I think I've adequately peeved both sides this time, pomegranates from the "rich and powerful" for the first half, pomegranates from the "poor-to-middle class and casual" for the second half. I am interested in the result.

Naw, it's just I don't think Nexon will keep to their word completely. They may change their mind once they further investigate the damages done by the hackers.

What I imagine is going to happen:

Nexon: "Everybody, remain calm! We have the situation under control, and will do a controlled quarantine!"
Nexon employees: *whispers* "Uh, sir... upon further investigation it seems we can't track down the misfits as adequately as we promised. The damage to the economy will take months to recover."
Nexon: "Did I say controlled quarantine? I meant a server System Restore! Sorry for all the lost progress, have some more 2x days and NX compensation. "

I don't think they've ever released accounts from being hellbanned individually, just en masse during a server check, after they've, presumably, finished whatever investigating they did.

Well it's not like I can't stay away from the fm for a couple days. And these events are a lot easier on the ivt than bfore. And it will get better as soon as I can afford the coin purse [just 1 more day man jut 1 more fucking day...]

But I really hope the hell ban ends the end of th RED event. I want to finish up scrolling my helm.
