Christmas Slimes?
#1
So, if you have logged on MapleStory since the holiday patch, you may have noticed that slimes are half-red and half-green. If you have names set to show, then you also would have noticed that they say Christmas Slimes.

Simply put, are Christmas Slimes a whole seperate monster (different ID and so on) or are the name and pictures edited in the files to make them appear? I was just wondering. :X

Since they give the same exp, appear in the same places, and drop the same exact things (no red and green slime blobs) I'd say they just edited the colors.

Quests say Christmas Slime now too, so no one gets screwed over.

That's because in the quest there's something like "I want you to kill #monsterid" so that the quest shows the name of that monster. I'd say they are normal slimes, same ID and all, they just changed the name and the color, and it obviously affected all the quest involved.

They do the same with Buffy's I think it's called Jester Buffy. They should do more monsters, I don't really get why they have been doing just those 2 for years.

Quests say Christmas Slimes as well. Wouldn't it be funny if they forgot to change the quests after the patch and you couldn't find anymore Christmas Slimes? o.o

But if minor changes like that are changing everything then it's no wonder why many of our holiday patches don't have much content asside from holiday events. Nexon is too busy recoloring monsters, giving new names, and making sure the quests all ask for the new monster etc.

They only changed the information attached to the monster ID. That is, the original slime's name and graphics. That's why the name comes up in the quests, and it still has the normal drops and all. If they put back the standard slime, it'll be the same ID, so no possible problems, since they didn't modify the quests.
