"Failed to use the skill due to an unknown reason."

Every time I go through a portal/change channel this shows up at the bottom of my screen:



Anyone know what is causing it? It's very irritating

unequip any blessing rings, your buff pets, and your decent skills, then re equip them, see if that stops it.

Maybe it's a passive shad skill?

I'm pretty sure it was my pet auto buff gems, I took everything off aside from those (even put the pets away) and it was still happening, then rebooted, tried again, and took the auto buff gems off and it stopped. Thanks

For future reference, were any skills equipped to the gems? If yes, were they decent skills?

I did have haste/booster/shadow partner on them, but they had nothing on them when they were causing the text to keep appearing (which I think was the problem), and you can't put decent skills on auto buff gems at all (which is a shame because that'd be really useful)

I think it started after I used one of those 20% boss dmg or def ignore potions at gollux. It was either then or when I went to Commerci trade union. I tried unequipping my decent skills, pets and pet equips but it didnt work. I don't have auto buff gem. I have restarted maple and my computer twice.

Please help if you have other possible solutions or any info about this glitch.

Use the potions again, but let them expire on their own.

I had this happen to me a few months ago, so I just used the potions, set up shop and went to sleep. The message went away after that.

A quicker solution is just to restart your whole computer. Logging in and out doesn't work. Probably closing the client completely and rebooting it will have the same effect as restarting computer, but don't remember.

Restarting my computer did nothing. HeavyMenance also mentioned restarting both his client and computer.

Weird. I get the message daily from gollux and a quick restart usually fixes it.

Alas, using both the 20% ignore and boss damage potions before I set up shop for the night did not stop the issue .. I didn't d/c overnight while they were on so they were able to expire by themselves.

Whenever I've had this, unequipping every 'summon' type item (android, pets, totems, ring) and then rebooting my computer has fixed it. It has happened without auto buff gems being on my character though so my conclusion earlier on in this thread isn't correct.

I think this is in some way related to the damage glitch, not sure how though, but the two seem to happen together.. however it could just be me =/

It's not just you I've been getting that damage glitch a lot in the past few days. I can't quite put my finger on it but I definitely think the two glitches are related and shadow partner has something to do with the damage glitch..

Anyway I finally got rid of "Failed to use the skill due to an unknown reason." I had unequipped all my gear and re-equipped it, then I shut my computer down and went out for an hour. When I went back on Maple I did not get the message. It could be from having my computer/maple off for a longer amount of time, or since it seems to be a server sided glitch, something in the server may have reset while I was out.
