RED update thoughts and feedback

is there a way to participate in all the RED events without having to get into the event hall?

I wanted them to fix town lag but they only made it worse by creating a place you have to go to but will forever get stuck in if you do.

Does Aqua Road's map for the event NPCs lag you? If not, Cassandra, Gaga, and Maple Admin are there. Gale and Spark are at Temple of Time.

I swear, I'm the only person for whom town lag INCREASED. I'm trying to get to Boat Quay Town to get my Ghost Ship Exorcist badge, but Singapore and Malaysia both have Cassandra, Maple Admin and Gaga in them. Before RED, I didn't actually have much of an issue, but after, the town lag increased so much that I basically get stuck. I tried Hyper Rocking to BQT (wouldn't let me) and inching my way with the keyboard (always steps too far). I ended up having to restart my computer and launch/quit MapleStory a total of five times afterwards.

What on earth is a Dusk Essence used for? I know it's new, but I don't have enough info on it, even when trawling through Alchemy and Blacksmithing (unless it's used for Accessories =.="). @Grey; any info for us? Was kind of hoping for a Primal Essence...

Yeah, they're used for crafting accessories and bags. From this thread.
Twilight Essence should be Dusk Essence for GMS. Distinctive twilight essence = Brilliant Dusk Essence.

I guess to add to translations:
Magic Crystal = Mana Crystal
Intermediate Spell Essence = Fine Spell Essence
Advanced Spell Essence = Grand Spell Essence

Like Jedward pointed out, they're used in alchemy -- specifically for the "weaker" new potions.



I got the one I have from one of the new big veins/herbs - I've mined/harvested about 50 total of them (10 ish successfully?) without getting a single brilliant dusk essence or chaos cubic fragment (which are needed for crafting cubes if I understand correctly). So they're gonna take a while to show up in the market, but I think they'll show up more frequently eventually.

You need Dusk Essences to upgrade Aky Rings and Brilliant Dusk Essences to upgrade the Almighty Ring, as well. Sorry, I'll update my guide after finals, because studying and stuff, which is like totally a lie because I'm clearly training a dit right now for a crit ring, but it's a lot of work that I don't want to do right now is all =[

Where can you find Fine/Grand Spell Essence?

Is anyone else having a problem keeping the Quest Helper window closed? It keeps on randomly coming back every time I close it, and it being on my screen is annoying the hell out of me.

Also, I picked up something called a "Legendary Weapon Shard (Mouri Clan)", and was wondering what it's used for in crafting.

Just yesterday event map started giving me MASSIVE UNBEARABLE lag. Before that it was 100% lagless. Seriously, why not just rewrite Gaga and the other NPCs completely? Remove that useless coding from data.

I actually think it's mostly people AFK'ing from the Hot Time earlier today. Just went into Evo and a few runs of MPE, and the new spawn rate was offset by the lag from the population increase today. It felt like normal spawn rate (waiting between spawns in Link 3), and it hurt my heart a little.

Here's the thing. Normal spawn rate in EVO was ALREADY 4 seconds. That's what made it so good. Every once in a while, you'd get a 'bad' room where spawn was 'normal', but otherwise the spawn rate in Evo has always been 4 seconds.

Please provide proof. I have ALWAYS been waiting between spawns because I clear too fast, unless I had Kishin. Post-RED there is absolutely no waiting, until yesterday when the servers were abnormally full for YMCK. Please note, my cores didn't change. I always use +7 level, 30% population increase and HP x5.

We definitely got the item drop changes with RED, the one where you are more likely to find items for your job. I keep getting loads of mage equips on my Kanna, and found loads of warrior equips on my dark knight. (I even found 3 spears in a row)

Well, logged on to find that my perm Mp and Hp Pouch are now expiring in 2 months....... not happy at all with this. The lag is ridiculous so far in some areas. Not even going to be playing most likely.

True, it's still a very nice change though, that greatly helps new players all the way up to level 110 :3
