How is physics taught in the US?

I just noticed that you don't use the metric system in US.

So how do you do some of these questions?


force:
f=ma
1N=1KG*1m/s^2

momentum:
p=mv
1Ns=1KG*1m/s


these equations are so simple in metric, but how were you taught on how to do these kind of questions?

We use the metric system with physics-related stuff.

Yeah, in my Physics class we actually get penalized if we use American units. :3

Yeah. Science in general, we use SI units just like everyone else. Pretty inconsistent really.

Maybe that's why everyone hates physics... they have to re-learn measurements. xD

We tried switching once...didn't work out too well...you would have to phase it in from an early age, while grandfathering those who have already learned the English system.

But yeah we use metric for sciences. It would take generations for the U.S. to convert to Metric. I guess people are just too damned lazy to do so... It's not a major issue to politicians...

It is to engineers and construction workers. Bolts and drill bits and pomegranate are all measured with inches.

That's the real difficulty in converting. Trying to find a 0.635 cm diameter washer? No thanks.
