Gollux
Asked a GM on live chat about the Gollux coin shop:

GM Ranolda: Hello

***: hi!

GM Ranolda: How may I help you?

***: I have a question about the Gollux coin shop, the Dawnveil patch recently implemented it, you collect Gollux Coins and Pennies from mobs in the boss fight and from the head its self to buy items from the coin shop, but the coin shop never resets. I was wondering if this is an intended feature, or a bug? there are a lot of items in that shop that don't make sense as a one-time-purchase, the scrolls and keys to enter the fight, for example, but items like the Gollux chair and the Superior Earrings/Ring do make sense - it seems like the limit was accidentally put in place on all items, instead of just a select few.

GM Ranolda: We do apologize this is something that is being investigated

***: Ah I see, I made a thread on the forums about it but no one posted in it at all - could you suggest that someone should post in that thread so people know to stop bumping it, if the issue is already being looked at?

***: Someone from Nexon, I mean - a lot of players posted in it saying they were looking for some information regarding the issue, like myself.

GM Ranolda: I will have someone take a look at the thread on the forums

then I started asking about other stuff so that's the only relevant part.
At least they're looking into it! Progress I guess.

Eh maybe. I'm starting to question when these representatives say this that they actually mean it, or if it's just something being said to appease us and have us move along.

really do hope they actually ARE going to fix that stupid thing... would be nice to fully scroll all of this stuff >_>

I thought that was intentional, seeing another chat said so.

This is Nexon we're talking about, they don't know their heads from their asses sometimes. And the shop seriously being one time purchases on EVERYTHING kind of ruins the whole point of it existing in the first place. The coins would become obsolete and worthless very quickly.

I'm fairly sure the other chat was fake, the guy that posted it on Basil isn't particularly trustworthy.
And yeah.. the one-time-purchase does make sense on some items, but certainly not on everything, which is why I figure it has to be a bug. I'm guessing there will still be purchase limits (once a day/week probably), but less strict than 'once ever'.

I think the thing that makes the least sense is the keys though. Like, you buy your 5 keys and then if you somehow don't have enough drop in those 5 fights to go in and keep getting more or if you drop all your keys you suddenly can't fight gollux at all, never again. I mean i know the keys have a good drop rate, enough to make a gain of keys if you kill enough monsters with the right drop rate, but it is possible. Do they really want people to be blocked off from their newest content?

Try talking to that NPC on a Yak. She has a daily quest that gives up to 3 keys daily for free. You have to be in her map, I mean, it's not like Root Abyss keys. I just redid the quest today, so I'm fairly sure it's repeatable every day or at least every so often.

Apparently, it's mostly to re-enter without actually killing Gollux to farm coins and more keys to re-enter. It's weird to have it like that, yes, but that's the way they thought.

Oh, well then i have no real problems with the shop the way it is lol. I do think that coins eventually becoming useless is a bad thing but it's not really a big deal because a majority of the things in the shop work pretty well as one time buy items.

Even the gollux scrolls? I'd rather they at least be once a week if anything. Having to buy service or do the damn quests all over again per scroll is just tedious as pineapple and unnecessary.

Is there really anyone who can kill hardmode gollux and doesn't have a bunch of level 160 mules around though.

-Can kill gollux

-Does not have 160 mules

Another problem with the Gollux items/shop is that every item has loads of slots, pretty much all the current 'end game' accessories only have 1/2 slots before hammers but these have 5-9 slots, so scrolling seems more necessary.

I'm guessing the limit will be raised to once per week on scrolls, dunno about the other items though. Probably once per week for the AEE/pot scrolls too.

I'm just saying but maybe they went with the ht scheme and when making they thought "Let them just scroll the first slot of the item with the gollux scroll and then left them chaos scroll"

Although if they were aiming for that, I think they forgot to account for the fact that they are 4 accessories, and you can only buy the scroll that works on all of them only once., ever.

I think the scroll count should at least be 4 so you can at least land a scroll on each piece.

Based on the selection of items, I don't think the problem is that there is some arbitrary limit of "one per x time period" where x can be forever, a week, a day, etc., it is the fact that the store is supposed to function like Azwan or Fredric of RA where a selection is offered from what we currently observe as the full list after each clear/entrance/whatever.

I hope Nexon actual realizes this and just compares and copies whatever code the aforementioned predecessors have rather than trying to go some long circuitous route to implement some new limitation based on time elapsed.

Regarding which limitation, Azwan-style v. Weekly Reset, is "better", I have no opinion on that without further thought, but I suspect the first and likely intended method is faster or more easily implemented, which is what I am after.

Does anyone know how TWMS or CMS Gollux, whichever had him first, is working?

Sorry if this was brought up earlier, but I just got into killing Gollux.

What's "Clear" indicative of after you defeat him? The difficulty you beat him at? But there's only four difficulties...

It's the difficulty you beat him at, yes. It affects the drops you get.

Clear 1 = Easy mode
Clear 2 = Normal mode
Clear 3 = Hard mode
Clear 4 = Hell mode when you leave the map even once
Clear 5 = Hell mode when you stay in the boss map for the duration of the fight

clear 4 is a bit wrong I finally understand ....

they both hell mode

Clear 4 = 1 Player (Solo) It doesn't matter if you leave the map or not
Clear 5 = 2 or more player (It doesn't matter if you leave the map or not and whoever leave the map first or not it will always be like this
(The first player who enter the map will always shown clear 4 and when the rest of the player enter it will say clear 5 for them for the first player will say both instead just one )

Hmm... I noticed this for hard mode too. If you go in with a party, first person gets clear 3, and the rest get clear 5...

I wonder if clear 5 actually means anything or if it's just the game going crazy because of the extra people.

That said, I've gotten 2 clear 5's, when I duo.

But having them being fully scrolled is pretty extreme. The whole thing would be relatively easily obtained just by participating. :/ I don't know what they intend but i'm not sure what would happen if it were a reset with a week or less but people adapt pretty easily anyway
