Gollux

What's the point of a shop where everything can only be purchased once?
Why not just give the items as quest rewards?
I suppose there's the advantage of having the items there instead of clogging up your inventory, in case you don't have use for them right now, but really... Seems like a very odd design. Or the GM just wanted the asker off his back.

Your guess is as good as mine. It's quite stupid, really.
If they want to make the items harder to obtain, I'd say just increase the amount of coins needed to buy things. 160 coins for a Superior only takes 8 days if you can solo Hard Mode...

I think that gm has no idea what the pineapple he's talking about.

If you are strong enough to solo Hard Mode everyday, then yeah, the superior items would seem easy to get. Increasing the amount of coins needed though would just make it even more of an impossible dream for everyone that CAN'T solo hard mode Gollux, which is probably like 95% of the maple population.

I really don't understand the point of having each item only available once either. especially the scrolls. I knew it was too good to be true when I saw those 30 coin scrolls that give good stats to the Gollux items. They should make the items available once per week or something if they are really that worried about balance.

And thus is the typical poor, unfunded player argument.

It's not even a very good argument. Normal Gollux drops 10 coins, allowing the player to grab a Superior equip in 16 days or so.

Can't solo Normal Gollux? Go with a friend, split the coins so each person grabs the end coins every other day. One per month isn't too bad.

Are we really going to start slandering people based on their Maple wealth now?

What normal gollux are you fighting?

Can someone give a list of bodies parts to kill to clear each mode? I'm so confused on this part

Example: Hard mode clear:kill one ab and one shoulder

etc

Easy- kill all three parts
normal- kill two of the three parts
hard- kill one of the three parts
hell- kill none of the three parts.

Usually for normal mode on my DS:
Normal: kill hand and abs
Hard: kill hand
Hell: have no cleared yet

If you are close ranged I suggest klling abs to avoid status afflictions. If you have range no need to worry, kill hand for easier time.

I think that's basically it...unless you want to know anything specific.

Exactly.
I don't understand why weaker players think they should have the same access to things as stronger players. This is the way the game is, get used to it.

and thus is the typical super-funded, elitist player response.

What's the point of them even introducing new tiers of equipment when only the stupidly powerful can get them? Just because the system works for you doesn't mean it works for everyone else.

And to be fair, I could have responded to your post in a way that would have started an argument, I didn't, I was just discussing it. Your response was complete unnecessary and made you like look like even more of a jerk than we already think you are.

If I cared about that I wouldn't have made the post, now would I? Wink

That's also why the game is the way it is and thus is losing people.

I'd be ok with a weak/strong divide if that divide wasn't filled with cash.

It is getting harder and harder for people to reach even moderately funded levels without pomegranate tons of cash and time. I'm not even a poor unfunded player, but after spending so much time and money on this game I've become trapped in a vicious cycle along with many other players, progressing past this point is only possible with (more) cold hard cash.

The "Strong" players as Green4ever put it are the people lightyears ahead of everyone else in the game, and are so out of touch with the experiences of a normal mapler that they have become blind (or at least ignorant) to the problems the game faces. as long as he is on top, he doesn't care, basically.

Because power isn't achieved through gameplay experience anymore. It's a direct output from money spent.
And when the gap is too big, and content starts to be made exclusively to the overfunded, the ones on the sinking boat will start to notice the trend of just not being able to achieve anything.

And no, not everyone spends thousands of dollars on this game, and yes, like it or leave, and people already do. Just don't complain when your MMO becomes single-player.

So basically you're just posting to bother people, correct?
Since you don't care about other people, that makes it ok, right?
Since you're wealthy, you have the right to make people feel bad, yes?
If you're just here to post garbage with nothing but instigation, just dont post.

I'm not poor or unfunded and I can't beat gollux... at least, 120% bossing, 140% ignore pdr, 100k range should not be considered unfunded. Obviously it's not as good as having a 2mil range and 200%+ of each, but it's still better than the majority of players will ever have.

That Hard can be beaten by a handful of classes when they have good funding doesn't make it a reasonable source of items. Especially the ones that can be bought once...

I'm totally ok with it being faster for people who clear hard to get the items (@25 coins per kill instead of 3) but just cutting out lower funded players makes the existence of the boss mostly pointless. Like, great, now the people who already have tyrant equips better than gollux's stuff can beat gollux.

The ego associated with being a big shot in a virtual game will literally get you no where. Just a casual observation.

Have fun with that.

Another 3/4 posts or so and he'll remind everyone about how he hasn't spent a single dollar on MapleStory and how you too can be as good as he is if you just try harder. It isn't his fault that everyone else is so bad at MS.

It really is no wonder MS has gone to shi`t. What would appear to be the majority of the now severely diminished community is either made up of people with egos and damage ranges the size of planets and those who worship them or those who are just clinging on to the hope that something, maybe, somehow, will change.
Sigh.

Don't worry, there's still people in between. Though, I guess given the categories, I, myself, and maybe the others do to, fall more under the second category.

Personally, the most enjoyable aspect of the game to me has become just the information, the data aspect. Browsing foreign Maple forums, peeking at the data, stuff like that. I'm sure it says something when the most fun I have with this game isn't playing the game itself, but rather telling the people who play the game about the game.
