Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS Discussion
Lozmaster Wrote:Todays post:

Yes, he just pineappleing implied he's worried about link being overpowered.

Jesus christ, let someone else balance this game, please.

I don't know man. Link's dair is one of the most powerful in melee already and now he's saying that he's giving people the option of it killing reliably off stage in two very strong ways, plus it mixes up his onstage combo game since the player has to either tech or DI depending on which hit it is. At least it still has the downside of killing you if you miss off stage.

I wouldn't say it's a case of the character being overpowered but the move alone. It certainly looks like something that might make him a lot more viable but i suppose it depends on how well link can force people off stage to use it and given his move-set that sounds kind of hard. I could see bomb -> dair working well though.

Besides, this is hardly more OP than samus' new fsmash which will no doubt be nerfed...4 frames with increased range and a transcendent priority fire hitbox. Sooooooo good.

If this is right, and since you're saying it, it probably is.Then why is this move getting buffed and not any of all of links which are downright terrible?

As I said, Sakurai is probably going to do as much of a bad job balancing this as he did brawl.

I still think buffing this move is still one of the best ways to go about buffing link as a whole though. The rest of his moves we straight up won't know about being buffed until we have the game, but the increased 64-esque hit stun that we've seen from trailers definitely works to link's advantage because he can probably follow up more easily on his projectiles which should be still buffed from brawl. (i really hope they remove that stupid wind from his boomerang)

Link's only real problem to people in the back room is that he's too slow, among other things like ease of being combo'd, chain grabbed, and predictable recovery. If the hitstun is as dramatic as 64 was, then his lack of attack speed will be lessened as far as a negative as a character is concerned.

And yeah hopefully some of the outside forces will make balance a lot less of a thing. Brawl's balance only gets worse over time which i think is hilarious considering that melee only gets more balanced over time.

a brawl mod thats goal is to bring brawl closer to its melee roots, rebalance all characters(seriously, almost any character is usable in PM), bring back some older stages back, add up 7 new characters(Mewtwo and Roy Confirmed) and an alternate costume system(hence whats shown)

so, i know absolutely nothing about smash bros competitive but watching any videos of it someone always picks fox and he seems stupidly broken which makes me wonder why hes not banned from any games.

Lol.

Fox is balanced. Him and falco are incredibly easy to gimp, and are among the characters most susceptible to self-death.

Go watch mew2king's metaknight and tell me it isn't broken. He's the only character in history to actually be banned from some tournaments.

I was waiting to see how this worked. In the teaser they showed the process all at once but I think setting it up and using it to cover an area of the stage is genius for an attack, especially for the villager and the nature of his play style.

A LOT of people really love smashville as a starter stage in brawl tournaments because the platform gives you more recover options, but the villager could just set a tree on it and totally block off that option because if you go there you take a tree to the face...

Some people would very much disagree with any character being useable. The game not being completed means that characters that emerge as "overpowered" end up being horribly nerfed. Ike completely dominated tournaments pre-2.5b due to his mobility from being able to jump cancel grounded side-B, and wall jumping out of side-B as well, but mostly due to his extremely high power and high range hitboxes that had no real sweet or sour spots. After ike was given 3 separate hitboxes for his attacks (tip, blade, and hilt) to make him a lot weaker, people like wizzrobe realized that sonic was extremely strong due to his literally unmatchable speed and approach options, and after beating even world class melee players like hungrybox and m2k, was nerfed. Wizzrobe has since quit playing until the game is completed because of this.

At the current version, ROB is now considered top tier because one of the developers, Jcaeser, has been basically undefeated with him for weeks/months.

If hes easy to gimp then why do people vs him in tournaments not abuse that...
Seems like he should be pomegranate tier from what you said lol

They do. As often as they possibly can.

Classic example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qna80MbcAAc

I also forgot to mention that fox/falco are two of the easiest characters to chain grab. Marth's and peach's up throw both chain grab to extremely high percents.

Also this, a more recent example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJPmbgBp9dQ

Agh that Marth!

I'm already swooning.

Do you think Roy or Ike is coming back? It seems that there's a large chance Chrom will be there instead, confirming the trend that the reps for Fire Emblem is Marth + Newest Lord in the series at the time of development.

I would bet on a strong likelihood Chrom will make an appearance just due to the fact that Awakening sales were spectacular in Japan and abroad.

Roy and Ike are just past their primes now. Excellent
