making bosses better, how could it be done?

The only way that'll work is if it never switches out of red-hat mode unless it gets attacked by blue-hat characters.

People just wait out phys. ignore, or crash it, or ignore it.

A boss where you fail if physical damage and magic damage aren't dealt in equal ratio would be neat... Like, you both have to attack for 10min, and at the end, the closer to 50-50 it is, the better the drops, with an HP-bar at the top that leans left or right depending who's ahead at the moment.

Would be nice to require more than just "1 physical, 1 magical character" but I dunno what unique characteristics anyone has any more.

wlel, that depends on how big it is. We already know Nexon can make bosses that 100 Maplers can fight, so if they made a boss where you needed one of every class to damage/affect it in some way, there would at least be some use for any class come that boss. And, to boot, it wouldn't change mode again until after it took some kind of damage, so that people that tried to be slick and solo it wouldn't be able to.
But like said, that would all just depend on how many maplers that would be available for the fight. (5 minimum would be good. You would need one of each main branch and it won't change or shuffle without being hit.)

Basically, it would make for a more social boss experience, because now, everyone would have to have a part in it. You can't just leech off of someone with good damage while it's solo'd.

Not sure if it's already been done, but it'd be cool if they made a boss that's like ... say, a labyrinth. That is to say, the boss itself IS the labyrinth. There's an HP bar at the top and everything. You could say that an angry spirit is trapped in its walls or something; I don't care.

To lower its HP, you have to go through different rooms of the labyrinth, in a party or alone; it doesn't matter which. You could specifiy a solo option or a party option (because options are good things, Nexon. Forcing people to party in a game that's arguably dying is stupid), and you could even change the difficulty as you saw fit. Each room would be akin to a room from the classic Ludibrium Party Quest, except it would be fun instead of tedious. Like ... a room full of monsters and you have to keep killing until you get a consecutive hit score (ala aran's combo) of 200 or more. Higher difficulty modes would simply up the counter; this way one couldn't just pay their way to the top. There would be obstacles in the way of reaching the next group of monsters, obviously, to create a kind of thrill. I don't know -- I'm just throwing ideas out there. The main takeaway from this is that the boss is defeated in segments, none of which involve actively attacking a single entity known as "the boss," because that's tedious and we've all seen it ten thousand times already. There would be a random number of rooms each time, but the maximum would be ten. Each room gives a prize coin, so even if you fail it's not like you've wasted your time, and five of those coins can be traded for a prize box.

Prizes would include all the decent gachapon pomegranate they've kept unjustly horded all these years. Elemental weapons, beautiful chairs, dark scrolls that aren't garbage, maybe even a gachapon ticket or a hair coupon or a shop permit as a prize, too. pomegranate people actually WANT. A way for players without NX to get some enjoyment out of this game. The catch would be a daily limit on the "boss"; once every 12 hours, or once every 24, or maybe it would just reset at midnight. It doesn't matter; this is all hypothetical anyway. They'll never do anything that doesn't force people to spend more money on better DPS/M, and they'll never give away cash shop prizes as a reward for playing the game.

Now I'm just saying but doesn't that sound like a more complex version of gollux? =3 Not tha I'm saying there's anything wrong with that, but I'm thinking making nexon is slowly getting a bit better [even slightly] at making bosses than before.

You're probably right. I don't play anymore, so I haven't been able to try it myself. Videos I've seen of Gollux show players attacking a physical boss, though, and that's the sort of thing I'd want to get away from since all of our bosses consist of that kind of thing, where at the end of the day everything boils down to how much damage a player can dish out per second.

We need more bosses like Pierre. I like that it's a boss that makes you think, but it doesn't have damage reflect or over the top damage/HP/defense ect.

It's the only maple boss i've actually had FUN fighting (you know, except for the flames causing a load of lag, has that been fixed yet?). I really want to fight it again now that my Kanna has hyper skills.

I love Pierre personally because timing his kb attack and then rushing through him to avoid it on my Paladin is so much fun.

It'd be nice for Nexon to put in more ways for classes to 'dodge' %hp attacks based on player control, instead of just walking/fj'ing out of the way.

I'm still waiting for a thief skill that lets you dodge all attacks for one second, with cooldown, or something like that. It's exactly what's needed.

No one benefitted from unleashed except the megafunded whose bossing times went from 9 seconds to 3 seconds, while the unfunded went from, say, 30 min to "not even, bro" to bosses.

The funny part is that people tried to argue that it advocated teamwork *cough*UltimaSteele
There's hardly any when low funded people shouldn't even dare THINKING of killing them.

Just because you could still solo doesn't mean teamwork doesn't happen or isn't relevant.

Yes, but there's hardly any teamwork in an unfunded party that doesn't stand a chance against killing a boss such as Magnus, Arkarium, Hilla, or Cygnus, especially the former three which have death counts, in which having more people can actually be worse.

You act like it's only the unfunded that need to team up. Do you know what a spectrum is?

Of course it's not only the unfunded that need to, depending on the boss of course. The funded are probably well off enough to solo in a reasonable time, again, depending on the boss, and how funded they actually are. I usually only see super funded people in KMS team up for the drops, since each person actually gets their own set of drops, compared to GMS (makes me wonder if they will ever implement it).

I could see warrior's getting a parry option, mages getting a special tele and archer & thieves & pirates getting a dodge, but how balanced that would be overall/work in general is beyond me Confused

Would be great to see a shift in combat from straight attacking to a bit of skill based evasion/blocking, and all of those skills could be easily incorporated into first jobs.

Pirates are tough enough to block stuff. Using a shark or something.

I actually really like the idea of a dodge skill variant for certain classes. I hate that all classes are slowly becoming these neutral masses of skills which are only discerned by their shapes and colors. RED is a step in the right direction, but they'll need to overhaul all the other classes to make them unique again. That, to me, is step one of making bosses fun.

Step two would be making bosses different as well. Root Abyss is a great set up. I love it. I even like Magnus, and Hilla to some extent. I want bosses which require thought and maneuvering.

Wow, completly off topic and non-sense, who do you think you are to go there anywhere and download your trash in them? How come you're not banned in this Forum, you just damage the energy of this amazing community, you should control yourself a bit more and respect all the others opinions. I'd love it if any mod should put some stop or a good 1 week ban to the people who doesn't apport good criticism, but only to offend others.

There was actually no aggressive tone in that statement. He was very much upset he got false banned, suddenly he's back discussing on how to make the game better, which doesn't make any sense.

If you actually read I believe 3 posts down you'll see what thread I am referring too. When he was actually banned I did supply my support, but I thought it was disgustingly hypocritical for his view point to change so drastically based on the fact he has access or not.

There's also a f`ucking report button so you don't waste peoples time with your crusades against people on a shallow analysis with baseless justification behind them. I think stupidity is a much more alarming threat then "He's so mean", god help you if you piss eos off because he might end up causing you to commit suicide. That's the site admin by the way, no god can save you from him.

Lol yup, i joined southperry recently because i thought it was mature place to air my views about maple. That idea disappeared completely when people like kanye west (and yes i do know your name is @KhainiWest) showed up being generally anal about everything maple. It's a shame too because as you said it takes away greatly from the community and just makes it bleh. I much rather spend my time on basil then on southperry due to the asinine behaviour i've observed over the last couple weeks, at least on basil you'll just get randomly trolled for fun but still get mostly useful comments. My experience being a member of southperry is more like commenting to be verbally abused for having an opinion.

That being said now, that i've come to understand that's just how some people on this site are, it's pretty amusing as it's quite predictable. It just is what it is, this site is alot more argumentive and negative to most things maple from what i've seen which is ironic being what i thought was a fan site.

Overly sensitive people make me laugh. They never actually understand the content and focus their insecure mindset on the exaggerations on how silly they think, is.
