I don't know if its just me or not, but if you kill the shoulders in mid attack animation they 1hko just like Velderoth.

Any attack animation that hits you for 50% of your hp or more, it makes it hit double the damage, for Velderoth its the 60% hp attack, makes it hit 120% of your hp, for the shoulders is the demon cry esque one that hits 50% of your hp and knocks you back.

I highly doubt that. The shoulders have a move after about 75% Hp where two thorns come out from the ground on each side of the platform. If you're on the ground when they appear you get killed. It's a very fast animation and gives you little warning, so that may be why you guys aren't catching it.

That attack hits me everytime and has never killed me, does about 60% of my hp but thats it.

There's two types of "thorn" attacks, the one you described (%hp dmg, very predictable), and the one that Justin described (1hko, the shockwave-like animation from both sides is far more subtle).

So how strong is he exactly?

Is he something that random characters in the level ranges of the gear he gives/coins give could party up and do? Or is he yet another pay2win boss?

The easy boss is quite do-able for a moderately funded high level character. While the harder versions are impossible unless you're super funded, I'd say that Gollux is a "reasonable" boss in that some of the lvl150 gear can be bought with coins that drop from body parts.

Not at the item level range (too much 140-150 level mobs) but a party of 16x-17x should probably be able to take down easy and maybe normal mode, depends on the class. Hard/hell mode are definitely in pay2win range.


My hero can solo Easy but it's got a few hundred cubes worth of gear on it (100k range, 120% boss, 140% ignore pdr) Haven't tried Normal cause I'm still getting the hang of the eyes/jewel stages of the head fight. On Easy it's got little enough HP that I can just cross my fingers and hope to kill it before it uses any 1hkos.

Sooo I figured out WHY you can't properly pot in Gollux as when it comes to the abs and head.

Pretty much when ever the abs or Gollux head binds you in place, like the animation that looks like black hands holding on to you....more than likely your going to attempt at potting because your freaking out and want to heal yourself right? Well don't...WAIT until the bind animations are done...because you wont heal at all when you try to pot when bound.

In fact, even worse, it will actually register at the boss that you used the pot and you would have to wait till cool down...so that why it feels as if potting is not working.

They don't work if a familiar buffed you within the last 30 seconds though.

That makes so much sense since i always have pig buff and i can't pot inside the bosses at all.

I can confirm that clear 4 can also drop 150 equips

I did gollux yesterday and for some reason got the Clear 5 message after doing easy mode (it was clearly easy mode). I didn't get any drops, however.

I submitted a thread on the Bug Reporting forum about the Gollux shop not resetting, I imagine it'll just be ignored forever but oh well worth a try:

Need more information from [MENTION=10062]Question[/MENTION]; to see how to get difficulty 4. The other method you said doesn't work and just gives the extremely hard version.

Eyes are a different story. There's no safe way for me to clear mobs without getting lucky and hoping he doesn't attack when I jump down. Doesn't really matter, since soloing the jewel is impossible anyway.

Well he can't demon cry if he's stuck in another attack animation.
