SuperNerd Wrote:Honestly? Not really. Like I've said before, the plethora of new Pokemon is one of the reasons I keep coming back every Generation, and it kinda disappoints me that the number is quite low this time around after being spoiled the past few Gens. I'm still picking up the game on Saturday and will proceed to enjoy the hell out of it, though.
From the looks of it, this game is a "pick a team of your 6 favorite pokemon from all generations (no legendaries and stuff ofcourse dur) and make a team of them"
I think this makes up for the small amount of pokemon. And this time around, we have a small number, but a good number of decent pokemon, at least imo.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but i'm satisfied with the 69-72 pokemon. Most if not all of them are really creative, really fun and interesting designs. A lot of older dex's have had dud pokemon that are only there to be gimmicks, but I don't see any of those this generation. It's quality over quantity.
And the increased variety of pokemon in the wild is what made me enjoy White 2 so much more than past pokemon games.
sure we got 69 new pokemon, but a lot of older pokemon got a new lease of life too. around 20-30 so far. and there's no problem whatsoever to take a small break and go back over some of the past designs like they have.

A fair amount of the new Pokemon are looking good in my opinion, but the Mega system is almost entirely useless by design due to its harsh restriction on being able to use only 1 Mega in your party. So out of all the Megas you essentially just pick one for your main team and forget about the rest of them even existing.
So no, I'm personally not satisfied -- not even remotely. The game overall looks good to me, but the lack of variety in Pokemon is a huge disappointment, though to be fair I understand where they're coming from, especially since most Pokemon in the entire franchise are pretty forgettable by the fans. It also doesn't help that they work in "generations" instead of adding on to a single experience they split them all apart from each other, so you never get a chance to get used to any Pokemon. By design you basically "try out" a generation's Pokemon then forget them in the next one. And even in a current one I'd say on average most players give no pomegranates for the majority of any particular generation.
Oh well.
Edit: Also doesn't help that most of the new Pokemon are using the same few types, so any type diversity is basically thrown out the window unless you want to give in and use pomegranate you literally don't like JUST to fill in that type slot you're shooting for unless you use previous generation Pokemon.

Dat Zlug Legendary is epic
I still haven't even cared to catch/bother with tons of pokemon from older gens' so the smaller amount won't be too drastic a problem for me.

I love most of the pokes from Gen1 - Gen3 and have used a huge chunk of them at varying times. I can/will always find a use for any bug type (though Volbeat/Illumise annoy the hell out of me). Less so for Gen4 onward (I hated half the designs in Gen5). I don't really care for the whole alternate form/mega system in general, as so far it looks like none of the megas are pokemon I actually use/care about and most alternate forms are for legendaries, but it's nifty.

The idea of a Hoenn remake is wonderful, and I'm not sure why there are people elsewhere that are against the idea. And this is coming from someone who started at Gen 1.
Sure, Gen 3 did remove some pivotal features from Gen 2 such as the day/night system, but think about it. Remake means they have a reason to add such features again. And unless my memory is faulty, I remember that the various regions of Hoenn were generally among the most colorful and varied among all the generations thus far. Upgrading the visuals to current standards could make for some serious eye candy.
Can you guys imagine the Abandoned Ship, Sky Tower, Meteor Falls, and the entire area surrounding Fortree City being remade?

Probably since Gen 3 was pretty forgettable.
The entire world map felt like it was put together in a fan-game to be honest. Nothing but one-screen locations, with not a whole-lot to any field, town, etc in the entire game. The overall atmosphere was pretty bland. It might have something to do with Pokemon having some growing pains considering it was a leap in hardware being used and they didn't know what to do with their new tools which happens often in plenty of franchises. 3rd Gen was radically different in overall "feel", but that's not always a good thing.

As long as they don't re-implement Feebas fishing, then I'm all for it. Luckily Feebas are easy to find in other games so it shouldn't be an issue if they did anyway. I also want it for the legendaries of Gen 3, I lost my Pearl/HG with them on it and don't have the energy to beat Emerald/Ruby+Diamond just to transfer them to Gen 5 right now...

Torchic as an event Pokemon hinted at Hoenn in 3d for me before. Glad it's going to happen (Hopefully)
Now we just need a 3d Wii U MMO for Pokemon

I'd rather have Pinsir get the evolution he deserves. I'm still really iffy on Megas, given that it limits their item choices pretty significantly. If I had to choose a bug to get a Mega though, it'd be him I suppose. If only because MegaYanmega sounds retarded.
Hypermug Wrote:E-Even...Parasect!?
Yes, even Parasect. I used him quite a bit in Gen 1/2, and would use him now if not for that ridiculous weakness to fire. I love the Paras family cries too.

Trying to train it in Gen 1, depending on how early you got it, was a nightmare. It took so long to learn any remotely useful moves for training purposes (iirc, Scratch and Leech Life were its early combat moves) that you essentially had to either whittle things down or constantly swap it in/out.
-Edit-
I wonder if it's too much to hope for a Mega Delibird...

I feel like I have been out of the loop regarding the exclusives to X and Y (besides Mewtwo's and Charizard's forms), so could someone inform me of what those that have been revealed are and more importantly, if we know whether or not the one of fossil Pokemon is exclusive to either game.

I'm pretty sure you can pick your fossil, like in previous games.

A Hoenn remake implemented in X and Y would be amazing. I've been meaning to try out the third gen games seeing as I missed out at the time; this would be a great opportunity to do so, it's basically another whole adventure for me and several others if we do actually get it.

I've been half-avoiding this thread because I don't want to completely spoil the game for myself, but what's this about a 3rd-gen remake? owo Third gen was my second favorite gen so my interest is piqued D8
