Apparently Snubbul is now pure Fairy. Mr. Mime is now Fairy/Psychic. which I find absolutely hilarious.

I could only imagine how the localizers felt when they saw genders were introduced in second gen, and Mr. Mime wasn't locked.

Mega Gengar sure isn't what I wanted or expected. Oh well the others look cool. I could believe the Psychic type change since it is rocking a 3rd eye now but that means a 4x weakness to dark and looking at the design it will lose levitate too. Seems an odd choice since they have given poison type some use now.

Anyway, apparently mega stones have been discovered for Heracross, Druddigon and Galvantula.

New move Light Ray is a dual-typed Grass/Electric attack.

Also Steel/Fairy is a magnificent typing. only weak to Ground and Fire.

On new Pokemon and variety
I'm kinda disappointed with the lack of new Pokemon throughout the basic progression of the game (and a lot of the ones I've encountered are lame: i.e. Carbink) but if you can get over that there's no reason to prefer the older gens over this one. The quality of life features are the best in the series. Based on what I've seen so far, anyway. Maybe the postgame will turn out to be not great but I have no way of knowing that yet.


One nice thing is that there's a huge variety of Pokemon to catch as you go. There's no Zubat or Geodude-like droughts to be had at all. I have never been hard up for type coverage (except a weird lack of Ground types early on) and any two random players are certain to have wildly varying team choices. Unless you want to use nothing but new Pokemon in which case you'd be pretty shoehorned.

Yeah, they don't leave you alone. Story-wise you're actually travelling as a group. You fight your rival (ie the person who took your starter's weakness) all the time.

I can't seem to find it. I didn't play BW2 so I'm not sure how it used to work.

Mega Stones
I've only ever got them from NPCs. Venusaurite et. al come with your Kanto starter, Lucarionite comes as part of the story, and I had to go out of my way for Ampharosite.

I hate to relegate him to the task, but Pangoro is a good HM slave. Surf, Rock Smash, Strength, and Cut.

Someone asked earlier if you could buy evolution stones. There is a store in Lumiose City that sells Fire, Leaf and Water Stones, at least.

Very early, before second badge. I think. You need Rock Smash, but the area it's in is definitely pre-second badge.

Found: Last room of Glittering Cave, the Old Amber is found in a rock that can be Rock Smashed. Return it to Ambrette Town to restore the Fossil, then one of the scientists in the lab will give you an Aerodactylite.

Note that you can't Mega Evolve until after the third badge.

Many of the new pokemon being leaked seem to be fairy type. The sheer amount of mega evolutions will make it tough to choose for me. Teams will probably revolve around their megas.

How are dual type attacks supposed to work? If you use a move and one of the types of the attack does not affect the defending pokemon, what happens? Does all damage get nullified? Half? how will it work.

It calculates resistances seperately, so yeah, it'll be ineffective if one type can't hurt it. For example, the new move Light Ray, which deals Grass and Electric damage, won't be able to damage Ground types.

I'm assuming only the main typing takes precedence and is affected by certain elements, like STAB and non-effectiveness (ex: Fighting/Normal-type moves have no effect on Ghost-types).

[SPOILER=So let's say Hawlucha tries to use Flying Press on a Ghost-type...] I don't think anything will occur and the pseudo-Flying-typing will have no effect.

I wonder if GameFreak thought this through, and made it so no attack can be more than 4x effective/0.25x effective against a Pokemon. I feel like 8x effective is crazy overkill.
