He still pretty much has to since it's his only way of moving horizontally. I fear this change will mess up his combo game though, if he still has one with these physics. His waddle jump seems like a slower version but a better one (for recovery, obviously).

Personally i think link performed better in melee than his younger self. Brawl tink has a ton of tricks to use though and his aerials are a lot quicker so it fits the environment.
