Jane's reserve role makes things so much more disturbing, what with Jake crying at the idea of being a rape/sex slave for all eternity. And also imaginary Dirk bantering with him in such a dark moment, trying to break up the tension. Then it broke with this:

I'm pretty sure that in this scene Jake's powers will activate and somehow make Brain Dirk actually real because he has enough "Hope" within him. But that's just my guess
