Obama Announces Plan to Forgive All Student Loans
#1
The Daily Curran Wrote:President Obama announced a plan today to forgive 100% of all federal student loans in the country.

In a speech at in Scranton, PA the president told an assembled crowd that it was unfair to hold college graduates to promises they made as students and outlined his vision for ending all student loan payments by the end of the year.

"Just because someone borrowed a bunch of money doesn't mean they have to pay it back," he explained to a friendly crowd at Scranton University, "This isn't 19th century England. This is America. And in America we've always believed in second chances.

"In today's economy a university education is more important than ever. Where would successful people like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt or Mark Zuckerberg be without their college diplomas? These days skipping college just isn't an option, but neither is continuing to pay for increasingly expensive tuition.

"We need colleges to teach our young people useful skills like sociology, gender studies and postmodern Moldovian claymation. But the most important thing we need to teach them is responsibility. And what better way to teach responsibility than to hold these banks accountable for the terrible loans they've made."

Found out it's fake. That's just hurtful to my heart.

Great lesson for the future; make promises you can't keep, and someone will bail you out of it.

The goal is to reduce the prices of tuition, not just say you don't have to pay the overpriced tuition anymore, jesus christ.

I feel like this is both a good and a bad thing...

I would love to be out of debt, however the US economy is going to pomegranate itself.

I don't put anything past politicians anymore, unfortunately. They will literally do anything to gain brownie points, it's only a matter of time before this sort of thing is actually real.

Now why would you post this in Current Events in the first place?

Nope. I had a hunch it was fake as well. Also didn't help I saw this under "Shenanigans". At that point my "Not Sure If" senses kicked into overdrive.

Also a fruit, whose daily consumption has not been rigorously tested by the scientific community as a substitute for regular visits to a physician. Thus making it distinct from apples, and the claim that Currants are Daily is a dubious one.

Yah I don't know.. a lot of agencies handle loans, I think it would be reasonable to see them fight loan forgiveness.

It helps to know that the "successful" people listed don't even have college degrees...

Yes Mr. Pony I knew it was a joke, but given a circumstance like this may (saying that it didn't), but just may would make a lot of agencies lose their pomegranate. Thanks for checking in though~
