Tales of Xillia General [In Stores Now]

Gonna need to break down and use a quest guide for some of these I think, can't find a few things like Elize's house and a couple of the demon beasts.

-buys all the current costume dlc- >:3

Some tips for Leia:
Leia's attacks are super linear. If you launch an enemy and they're slightly to your side, you can end up missing them in the air and require to land. The same applies if they're on the ground and move side to side.
My opinion is Cerberus Strike is the better launching arte over Spiral Strike and Swallow Flight because it causes knockdown if you use it in midair; that means you can use Cerberus Strike -> Swallow Flight -> Spiral Strike.
Soaring Blast's area of effect is larger the higher you are in the air. If you use it on the ground, you can't even tell it makes an AOE.
Staff Rain does the same damage on the ground and in midair even though it does fewer hits in midair. The midair version's base hits have higher damage to even it out. The additional hits for both do the same damage, making them equal until you get 1000 uses. At that point, ground is superior because it adds more hits.
Crescent Flash is stupid fast in midair and it keeps you floating. You can short hop it to hit things on the ground too.

It took me a long time to find every area in the game. The map feature (Square?) is really useful. You can navigate through the minimap of practically every map you've ever been in using that menu alone, though you have to start in the map you're currently in.

Yeah I knew about that feature, just missed a crawlspace. Speaking of the demon beasts, they were a huge disappointment to me; only one of them put up a half decent fight, the rest were too slow to do anything but stand there and get juggled to death.

I think the crawl spaces are a cool feature, but there's way too many of them in each map. Some of them just lead to an empty room, and I found myself checking them again because I don't see a chest/bag on my map. They could have used more things like cliffs and crags instead of a generic hole. The particular one for Elize had me confused because I saw the paths on the map and couldn't find the entrance. After walking back and forth a couple times, I realized it was a hole.

I think I remember having trouble with the demon beasts because they always came close to OHKOing anyone due to my level. Compared to Graces, Xillia fights are a bit more unforgiving due to the dodge mechanics, or there lack of. At least that's my view on things.

Every boss is easy if you just abuse knockdown though. They were on the right track by adding the super armor so you can't infinite combo bosses like trash monsters, but knockdown is too abusive.

How far are you now?

Finished Jude Side just now. Super armor isn't really much of a buffer because of Elize; with Wizard 2 and a cast speed amulet, she's basically got an permanent wave of lockdown even on bosses, aside from the very few that can move fast enough to get out of her massive aoes before they break superarmor.

I never used Elize's infinite spells on the bosses during story playthrough, but I've tried it in the arena and ex dungeon. Doesn't work very well from what I recall. Negative Gate is broken though. If I recall correctly, you can infinite with Tidal Wave too.

lol i fought Gaius for the first time today and found it really hard but managed to get through it, and then my friend said it was a fight you were meant to lose. Literally thought i was at the final boss with that sudden spike in difficulty..

'Brutaur' who is 'Lord of Lakutam'. Brutal of Vesperia who is 'Lord of the Plains'. What a wannabe. Rolleyes

Anyways, absolutely love the story and characters so far. Can I just say that they did an excellent job of casting a voice actor for Teepo? She captures the correct, energetic and playful tones that Teepo is known for. Not to mention, everyone else's voice talent (yes, including Milla) are spot on as well. I love the entire cast; their personalities definitely enhance the feel of the story.

I'm at the end of the game now, running from sub-event to sub-event, even though I told myself to save the sidequests for the second playthrough. I've also gotten to the point where I only get 2 GP per level, just as I unlocked the last set of nodes (which has all the cool skills). I've also killed 2 of the Devil's Beasts and obtained Milla and Rowen's Devil's Arms.

JoeTang Wrote:Are they actually called Devil's Arms in this game? The last couple of levels leading up to 100, you get 1 GP per level. The Cute Pink Things sidequest for Elize is pretty important for her second best weapon, especially if you're not on Weapon Shop Level 100 by then. It's only a small boost to the final shop weapon though.

Yep, Devil's Arms and Devil's Beasts. I already did the pink quest (got like ten Pink Emeralds while getting Milla's Devil's Arm), Elize is very strong now. Also, holy crap the Golden Mage Knight is strong, and this is only his first version (there's two even stronger versions). I got to stage 3 of the fight and then just got owned. Level 70 on Moderate might be slightly underleveled though.

Well, that's true, but as you've already found out it's not a Hopeless Boss Fight because you can actually win.

Doesn't change the sequence of events that follow, but you do get a ton of EXP for winning.

If you're playing Jude's story, you'll be going up against a different boss in a 1v1 fight soon. Winning or losing that one only changes the subsequent cutscene; you can still continue even if you lose.

By the way, Milla also has a 1v1 fight with someone else later on.

Don't even bother with Devil Arms for that one; for some reason they do as much damage as any other weapon in that fight (i.e. not a lot).

Beat the game on hard in 4 days because my friend said I'd never pass him Rolleyes (I did in the end)
Got all 6 Devil weapons and now I'm pretty much running around in Magnus Zero on easy wiping out everything in 5 seconds just to get exp. Do I get any goodies for reaching max level on one/all of the characters? Otherwise I'll just finish up maxing my shops then begin a new playthrough.
Also how would I move my gear over to a NG+? I'd like to experience the game being super strong and not getting my ass whooped by Nachtigal or that damn Teagle thing again.

You get titles for maxing your characters, I believe.

You can carry them over with the Grade Shop. There's also an option to keep your Devil Arms "unsealed" I believe?

ok, got this game 2 days ago, keeping it spoilerfree i just got to the town with the 2 pink girls, i was quite concerned about milla's voice after reading this thread, but now that i played the game... i think the voice fits perfectly. being lord of spirits and all it figures she doesn't share much sentiment, if anything i'd have to say it's her skit pictures that overdo it.

Well, the point is she's lived in seclusion all her life, and now she's surrounded by all these fascinating things (read: culture food) she's never experienced before.

and the voice did show interest when she ate the food, but her attitude is more of a "fascinating" kind of thing rather than that of an emotional 20 year old girl, she knows enough about the world, just hasn't experienced some things personally (hunger, tiredness, etc)
