IT: Because our db software sucks and it will have to scan the entire database sequentially. There are millions of records and -
Manager: What millions? I only see 4 pages of complaints on the forum. Just fix those people.

Manager: You can't fix a single character by itself?

Manager: Then do that. We can't have the game down for 8 hours. Cash Shop sales must start. Also, they'll whine they want a free attendance stamp for today. Fix the bugged characters manually.
IT: But there are so many of them!
Manager: I thought you were a computer professional. You don't touch type? Maybe I should hire someone that does...
IT: OK, ok, boss! Sorry!

[Update] The maintenance has been extended. The expected end time is 1:00 PM Pacific (4:00 PM Eastern).

Returning what cubes? I seriously doubt there will be any compensation for the missing miracle time.

So it's pretty much confirmed that they are returning cubes in this maintenance. Or at least they're claiming that they will. They also stated that they will return Potential Locks, which they didn't in the homepage.

Looks like it might not be extended anymore. Game servers are up. Let's see whether login servers follow.

I give up. This pomegranate is too fucking stressful to waste my summer this way.

I preordered FF14 and open beta should start on the 8th. I hope to god it's good and I don't regret not iCoGing/Unique scrolling my Fafnir.

We will be performing a scheduled maintenance on July 17, 2013. It will last approximately 3 hours.

What will be unavailable:

• All MapleStory game servers.
  

Changes and Updates:

• Back end modifications and updates will be made to the servers.
  
• The Magic Note item will now be sold at NPC shops.
  
• The price for the Unleashed Scroll for the Two-Handed Weapon for Magic ATT 50\% has been reduced to 20 Unleashed coins.
  
• SnailGirlXx should no longer get stuck in the cut scene for the Xenon quest: Getting Caught?!.
  
• Double Miracle Times for 7/18 and 7/20 have been added: 12 AM - 1 AM & 3 PM - 4 PM for both days.
  
• A fix has been applied to the Xenon Link Skill. The skill should now work without issue for those affected characters. The fix is for people who reported it and included their character info.

Some people are unable to assign it. From what I understand, it keeps telling them they can only do so once a day, when they have never done it at all.

mob lag wasn't fixed for me

edit: and now it's 10x as bad as it was before
and I'm getting "ID already logged in" for a few minutes after I crash

I'll still be around. Need to make a DA afterall All these attendance events are just burning me out a lot faster than usual for Maple. I've been doing 12 kill 300 monsters and 8 rings. I took the last 3 days off with no maple and it felt so good.

I'll just wait around for a hot time to perfect crap. Nexon should have made this event more enjoyable. Maybe let you do multiple stamps per day or something.

...for some reason I feel like the Quest Helper Penguin got involved; which was first reported as early as Kanna's release(?).

I'm seeing some complaints on the official forums from people who got fewer cubes than they used, or the wrong type (they'd used Super, they got regular). So, something was returned, but it may not be what you used...
