Girasol Has Withdrawn

I'd just like to reiterate something that she told me when I spoke to her about it.

"Its nothing to do with MapleStory or the Maple team"

I'll also tag on that is has nothing to do with her physical health, its also nothing to do with anything you guys PM'd her about.

Shh, the Maplestory community has made it's choice.

This is what happens when someone who wants to make a game that is based on spending money "Better" They are disposed of and buried.

Nexon always downplays it like it's no big loss each time this happens. I recall when NXProse/NXJoe left they said something like everything is fine, anyone can replace them, it's no big loss, we have other GM's.

Only the best companies out there deserve your hardworking nature.

Saddened to see her go. She was a wonderful wealth of insight on what we were expecting from the game, and she was what a great relations member should have been. I hope who ever takes her place follows her precedent, but I know they cannot fill the void she left in our hearts.

Sad to see someone who actually cared about players, in a company that rarely ever cares, go.

I guess it's better to leave than stay and work for a company that likes to keep players in the dark about everything.

I really wish she would stick around and take part in the community here. She was way more than just The Answer Queen/GM, she was an interesting and funny person who fit in perfectly here.

From what I have seen here on Southperry, she did a wonderful job because she understood the customer base and the community.
We are all sad she's gone, but knowing Nexon as a company I'm happy for her that she is pursuing other opportunities.

She was a talent and so was NxProse and NxJoeW. They all left Nexon America to pursue better jobs.

What I don't understand is why all the crazy conspiracy theories are being put above something more boring along the lines of... (yeah, another theory... but this is a boring one!)

Maybe she got a better job in a nicer company and possibly better pay (I can't imagine nexon being a great place to work, but maybe I'm wrong), and she had been planning to leave for awhile, and this was her leaving day, but she didn't feel the need to have the entire maplestory community knowing her reasons or where she is going (which is quite reasonable). People don't tell all the customers of the company their reasons for leaving. Why is this really *that* different? She may have made so many posts on her last day because it was her last day and did enjoy posting for us all.

If she'd warned us in advance she was leaving, that probably would have been a problem with nexon, and the big fuss it would have resulted in from the maplestory community would not have been a good thing. It would have been awkward for her too.

The relationship between us and Girasol was that she was Nexon's PR person. Yes, she was helpful, but that doesn't mean she was a "friend" or anything else that would mean that we have any reason to know her reasons...

When Hime left, we were told she was moving on to better things, and everyone was happy for her, within Nexon and within the community.
Why couldn't Girasol's departure have been handled the same way?
The things she wrote, and the way Nexon reacted (immediately deleting her forum account, unlike Hime's which is still there with all titles), tell us quite clearly that this was unplanned (might have been something brewing for a while, but nobody knew it would come to a head on that day) and that they did not part amicably.

She did leave.
She did not make a goodbye post in Nexon's forums.

Girasol did leave, but the person that made that post wasn't her.

That would be why she asked me to nuke her account here. I figured she would've torched the one on the Nexon forums herself, but she might not have done it well enough.

Then all the more reason to believe she didn't leave in good terms. AFAIR, all representatives that have left Nexon in the past have made goodbye posts. Why would she, probably the closest to the comunity of them all, change her mood in half a day and leave her fanbase hanging without even a bye?

Even inside the grandmother's scenario, she'd have had a couple minutes to pull a smartphone at the very least and write a goodbye message while she is on her way. Be it here or on Basil.

Considering she contacted several of us to let us know she was leaving and communicate various requests if she wanted us to know more about why, she would've asked us to relay it. She specifically declined to leave a personalized goodbye for Southperry, or anywhere else, at this time.

It wasn't an oversight, it wasn't because she was rushed, it wasn't because she's trying to keep it secret.

She doesn't want to try to do one right now.

Considering the mammoth size of a change leaving any job you've been at over a year can be that's not surprising. Even if she had something lined up already, transition is stressful, and if she didn't job hunting is triply so. Maybe she'll have something to say when things calm down more and she's had time to adjust. Or maybe she just wants to make the break as clean as possible and we'll never hear from her again.

I'm not judging why she'd leave without saying bye, I'm saying maybe the reason why she didn't say bye comes from breaking up with Nexon in bad terms. She was close to the community, she seemed to really enjoy it. One morning she is excitedly advertising an event in Maplestory and that day's afternoon she's asking people to "nuke" her accounts?.

In any case, regardless of wether Nexon fired her or not, they are really stupid for not holding onto her.
