Girasol Has Withdrawn

the main reason for me, is the mood whiplash she had, in the morning she was all "NOT TO BE A SHILL, BUT I TOTALLY POURED HEART AND SOUL INTO THIS EVENT" and then in the afternoon, bam, left the company, even assumming a tragedy on her side rather than nexon, what kind of thing would make you, or force you to leave your job?

Alright. Going to get heavily pomegranated on for this, but I must respond.

Consider this completely made-up scenario:
Person working her ass off as usual, mood in the morning as you described it.
She receives a call that her beloved grandmother has been hospitalized in critical condition.
She informs her superior that she must leave for the East Coast immediately for at least a few days.
She is coldly informed that all vacation requests must be filed in triplicate at least two weeks in advance.
She says it's a family medical emergency.
They say a grandmother is not a first-degree relative and therefore it isn't such an emergency.
She blows up and rage-quits this heartless company that treats her like that after all she's done for them.

Note that I have absolutely no inside knowledge to base this on. Unlike some here, I had no personal communications with Girasol. This is pure imagination answering your question as to what could change a person's mood like that.

Girasol is how all Nexon employees should be, they could have learnt a lot from her. Hopefully they have. Though I feel things will probably just slide back to how they have always been…

Oh well hopefully she can find a company that deserves her.

She made a huge impact in MapleStory/Nexon the past 6-8 months or so, and she will be sorely missed.

Although i guess even if Nexon did nothing it's kind of funny how the reaction the community has to some good thing we've gotten being taken away suddenly is to blame Nexon asap. Not defending them but it's just funny what happens with no information at all. We should be mourning her departure and wishing her best of luck, not taking revenge on the invisible entity we try so hard to stick it to.

I don't think people are trying to stick it to Nexon or take revenge on them, although that does seem to be the go to reaction to events (considering most are their fault). In this situation, there are two possibilites: Girasol either left for her own personal reasons or the company pressured her to quit or even went as far as to fire her.

Considering all we can do is guess (and the reasons I stated in my previous post), it is not surprising this is where the discussion has gone. Btw, there are already 5+ pages of wellwishing and sad notes concerning her departure, so stating that we should be acting that way is redundant.

Regardless of the reason I hope things go well for her.

In Girasol's official good-bye thread she specifically mentioned family. So maybe the reason she left was some sort of family emergency? Regardless of the reason I hope things go well for her.

As someone who hasn't played the game in a number of years, it was refreshing and well received to see someone like herself become so integrated in our community. It made me feel a pang of interest to possibly start playing the game at times knowing that someone took enough interest in us and the game to be as vocal and helpful as she was during her time here.

I'm sure she'll be missed. I wish her the best in anything she does from this point onward.

For reasons of her own Girasol has parted ways with Nexon America as of tonight and will no longer be with us here at Southperry.

I'd just like to reiterate something that she told me when I spoke to her about it.

"Its nothing to do with MapleStory or the Maple team"

I'll also tag on that is has nothing to do with her physical health, its also nothing to do with anything you guys PM'd her about.

Whenever I had the good fortune to see a reply made by Girasol, she was never condescending, rude or pointing fingers at the players (unlike other GMs I could mention) - Girasol, you built up a great rapport with the players, and you made us want to play the game because you were a safety net of sorts.

You provided timely information about updates, events and bugs that would be fixed. Thank you.
