Spadow Wrote:Let me start to begin that the localization team of North America localizes content appropriately for Westerners.
All imported content from Korea are localized or adjusted or re-wroted for pop-culture reception.
There will always be a slight difference in translation in almost every version. I think the North American team is quite good.

경계에 서있는 자 means: The one who stands on the border. Even though it is not literally translated in the GMS, but Border Patrol is okay. I don't even understand what ''the one who is at a divide'' means... :f6:
Xenon uses an Energy Sword in KMS but uses a Beam Whip in GMS. That's why Blade Dancing is renamed to Beam Dancing. Rolleyes

I've looked into the Twilight Perion & Demon quests and they seem fine. On the other hand MSEA's localization team needs to improve. They translate Demons as Wicked Tribe.

My mistake, 경계 means "boundary" or "border" as you said (Not 'divide' as I was thinking at the time), but there is a difference between "One who stands on the border" and "Border Patrol."
Clearly, one is a lot less serious than the other - and childish as well. I'm not sure what meaning KMS development team was going for with "경계에 서있는 자" (Someone who pushes the border to the extreme?) but I am 100% sure they were not going for the police who make sure illegal immigrants do not enter the country. I just wish that American localization team put a little bit more thought into making a medal called "Border Patrol." I'm all for them trying to have humor in the game, as Maple Story is at the core a 'social game' but there is a time and place, as well as type of humor to put in content.

You do have a point with the renaming of the skill/weapon, but that was just a minor comment - I just think that "Beam Dancing" sounds terribly silly, whereas "Blade Dance(ing)" is already a skill name used in multiple games, almost expected of a skill that looks like Xenon's.

tldr; why the pineapple would you name a medal "Border Patrol?"

Thank you for the input though, Spadow. It's great that you've returned to your blog ^^

indeed, one who stands at the border makes me think of either suicidal tendencies, or falling to the dark side, border patrol... makes me think of mexico.

I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN TAKE THIS
please what did you find

EDIT: wow, most of these actually aren't bad. I'll miss the ~mysterious~ sound of "purge lob masquerade," but nothing is really upsetting. Except for Beam Dancing. What the pineapple, nexon.

I'm still really confused as to how to determine the actual HP of certain bosses from these extractions. The following for example look strange to me:

Chaos Blue Pierre [2,100,000,000 --> 315,000,000]
Crimson Queen [315,000,000 --> 2,100,000,000]
Chaos Crimson Queen [2,100,000,000]
All Cygnus V2's [600,000,000 --> 2,100,000,000]
Shinsoo [70,000,000 --> 2,100,000,000]
Cygnus [2,100,000,000]
Chaos Vellum [2,100,000,000 --> 210,000,000]

I'd imagine that these are not the actual HP's of the bosses, so how can I figure out what they really are?

These are probably legit actually.

They used to have a variable, finalmaxHP, that kept the real HP value (ones that exceed 2.1b), but it seems like they accidentally deleted it, so there's really no way of telling right now, from our end, except probably doing the bosses and keeping track of how much damage was done.

So, I hear they got rid of our nice HP/MP gauge bars. That really sucks. I really liked those. Looking forward to GPQ though I guess.
