DotA2 - Original Thread
Sweet mother of Black^ that was a great game. Lions Pride vs. Mouz is something that you need to watch.
So I finally had a good Doom game. Bit of a rocky start (no courier so I had to go back and get it plus a salve) but I eventually got my basi then midas up and running. Decided to rush necronomicon 3 after basi midas phase because I had the gold. Went surprisingly well. Ended up with 590 GPM and 8/2/12. We weren't doing great up until I came out of the forest. I should probably start paying attention to my lanes and popping out with a lvl ? death early on. That pomegranate hurts. Most satisfying sound effect ever when you get the bonus damage.
yes I realize this is a double post. but yolo.

okay I accidentally didn't post this post before I started my next game. Accidentally hard random Morphling in Single Draft. The subsequent picks are: CM Enchantress Batrider and Death Prophet.
Only ended up with 547 GPM this game; up against a super-aggressive lane early on.
I attended the opening of the Chicago DoTA 2 tournament. During the Merlini 1 vs 1 draw, I ended up being the first one picked to go against him in a mid game. I chickened out and gave my raffle ticket to a friend's friend to take my place because I knew I was going to get slaughtered. I also thought they were going to use our Steam names in these games, but it was just "Merlini's Victim".

Merlini mid game 1: Shadow Fiend mid, and he lasted about 6 minutes before Merlini got First Blood.
Merlini mid game 2:Next one was a Windrunner mid game. That guy nearly got Merlini, but Merlini's Shackleshot nailed him the victory.
Merlini mid game 3: Next mid game was with QoP. The other guy managed to bait in Merlini with the courier and won.
Merlini mid game 4: I missed most of it, but it was a Pudge mid, and Merlini got the Hook and Rot combo off before he suicides.

Merlini: 3 - 1

I also won a DoTA 2 mousepad in a raffle. Will upload picture later tonight. The thing is huge. I wanted a courier plushie, but no dice.

The matches that I saw usually ended in a stomp for either side. One game had the global ult strategy; one of the team fights 4/5 of the enemy team blew up to the Scepter AA/Zeus/Spectre combo alone. 2nd game I saw was where Magnus was ballin' out of control. Where he was 15, everything else was ~8-11. He also got a Refresher/Dagger/Arcane Boots build, which made fights extremely one sided. I didn't get to stick around to see the final match, but I'm sure a VoD will be up for it soon.

I missed last part of Na'vi vs EG game, but it was weird. EG pushes tier 3, Na'vi wins team fight, I afk 3-5mins and I come back to see the game is over. wtp?
Also, while watching they were saying some player is only 17 years old. Do pros even study? What if they get bored/tired/sick of the game? What's their life plan?

Some take breaks from school to play, some study while playing, some already finished studying and some have a job on the side. Varies from person to person really.
Mouz couldn't bring their full roster because one had to study for example.

Some of them plan to become casters, personalities or just do some kind of work in e-sports.
Why is involker so hard what

11 actual spells and 14 actives 2 hard.

On the bright side it's not guinsoo invoker.
Back then order mattered too.
So QWW and WQW and WWQ were three different spells.

As mentioned a page or two back, the best trick to invoker is just getting some combos down. Figure out some combos you enjoy that work and utilize them.

Edit:
Jesus christ the [A]lliance vs Quantic game was beautiful. That pineappleing drafting by goblak.
This sums up the game:

The hardest thing about Invoker for me is remembering the combinations to invoke spells. I've memorized some but it's too damn easy to mess up and invoke the wrong spell. I haven't played him in pubs yet because of that but I practice every now and then with bots. Playing Invoker feels like learning how to play a new game.

EDIT: What a silly way to get disqualified.
Try invokergame.com. Memorizing the combinations is actually pretty easy if you practice it a few times. It only took me 3-4 games vs bots to be able to invoke any spell from memory. Unfortunately, the hardest part of Invoker is actually having the right spells ready when you need them. It's really hard until you get Aghs.

icefraaaaaaauuuuuuuuudddddddd

anyhow I'm now 2-0 with Medusa. Both games went over an hour. There's something weirdly satisfying about going from being weak as pomegranate early in the game to an absolute monster at about 40 minutes in with linken's manta butterfly treads and aquila. I wonder if I should start going Midas. It might be a good investment.
Also did ancient farming exploit with medusa on radiant side get fixed? Sad

I did not expect this one bit.

That's a god damn decent chunk of money. Nexon seems to really want a strong launch for dota2 in korea.

Money spread over four leagues:

And if previous rumors hold true they'll partner with gomtv.

Well, I'm pretty excited for DotA2 to be finally released in South Korea because it would mean more Koreans in DotA2 scene, which could be expected to be just as good as their LoL and Starcraft2 excellence.

However besides the DotA2 Nexon Starter League, I also found more information on DotA2Korean release info on GosuGamers and joindota:
http://www.gosugamers.net/dota2/news/244...on-dollars
http://www.joindota.com/en/news/9941-nex...-announced

By the way if anyone that can read Korean could translate this: http://dota2.nexon.com/NSL/index.aspx, like the 1,2,3,4

Also if you guys want to to discuss about current Korean DotA2 teams, I found like 2 cept one is disbanded
FXO

http://www.joindota.com/en/news/8043-fxo...-to-dota-2
and formerly Mineski.Kr
http://www.joindota.com/en/news/5215-upd...orean-team
and ofc Select of former QPAD except I heard he went back to SC2
Exciting mouz games that go back and forth with black antimage.
Na'vi games are also quite good against dignitas.
Why are they on at the same time Sad

Edit: Na'vi lost, seems that the time got to them.. playing from 10 am in the morning till 3 am in the night. They could've won if they didn't dive dignitas base twice in a row while sieging it. -_- For pineapple sake, puppey would run after a support and not get the kill both times while he could've helped focus the rax and in the last push up dignitas top lane they could've taken melee rax and traded it for their bottom rax, instead puppey chased for kills and they didn't even get the tower and weaver got their base.
Incredibly sloppy play from na'vi. Not to mention the decision to wait for another rosh when naga just finished radiance..
But dreamhack seriously need to step up both their rules and program. Teams having to play from 10 AM till 3 AM is not okay.
I was interested in seeing another Na`vi VS Alliance match but it didn't happen sadly.
Anyone else following the Eastern Scene?
Specifically, DotA2 Super League and Alienware Cup(Na`Vi vs Eastern Teams)
I follow anything dota.
I love DK as a team and hope they will improve and that burning wont retire. Tongfu are a strong second.

Same, personally I see DK as a team really good, another team that came to my attention is VG with ZSMJ, Cty, Fenrir, and fy. It was a shame they lost to Rattlesnake in TI3 Eastern Qualifiers. Was hoping to see VG in the TI3.

On other news gratz to Alliance for Wining Dreamhack 2013. I have to say flawless performance for the final game of Dreamhack

Yeah, that game went insanely well for them. I think that some Alliance games are really interesting team to watch because they play well almost every game.
I don't have a favorite team right now so I just enjoy good teams playing good games Smile
I wish I could watch more eastern dota because there are cool teams there but it's impossible for me because of time zones and I just dislike watching VODs.
Atleast TI3 is only 1½ month away.
My hype is already going up, up and up.

Hype inducing videos:

If TI3 is even half as good as TI2 was to watch live i'll be incredibly joyful. The storyline and almost cinderella story with Na'Vi was amazing last year.

Not to mention the STATMAN.

So that mouse pad I promised I'd show that I won from the DoTA 2 raffle.
