Wait, you admit to know almost nothing about adventure time and yet call it a simplistic comedy cartoon and a sitcom?
Like i really wanted to get into this discussion but i've already given up. Jesus christ.

YennoX Wrote:SAO could come with;

1) (NX) equips
2) bosses
3) theme dungeons
4) porting over and remixing some of the iconic soundtracks for said theme dungeons/bosses
5) hairstyles/faces
6) MapleVille additions

If the development team really wanted to do a good job, crossover content from SAO could potentially be amazing. Of course, I am aware that some of the things I listed are expecting too optimistic. But nevertheless, there is certainly enough content to make it worthwhile should they decide to put in the effort.

Like I said before, I don't know anything about Adventure Time. I can't imagine, however, a simplistic comedy cartoon providing nearly enough hype. If anything, they'd be better off crossover-ing from The Simpsons or something.
That is far too ambitious.

Look at past crossover events, what have they given us? A few nx items, a few equips and some NPCs. Thats it. You really shouldn't expect things like dungeons and bosses for a simple crossover event.

And in terms of things which could be made into items, adventure time has a lot more cute and iconic characters. SAO has like 2 popular characters, no iconic weapons or outfits or pets. And so the creative options of a SAO event is very limited.

MetaSeraphim Wrote:I think you're being far too harsh on it. I think the only way it is generic is that there is nothing that really sticks out about it, and when I say that I mean like themes or outfits or a mascot or something.
I'm not really being too harsh, it's my honest opinion. I find the show generic because it's got shoe-horned and unbelieveable romance, and a main character who defies the very rules of the games he's in because he always has some unfair advantage that makes him instantly better than everyone else.
There are literally only 2 memorable characters from the show: a typical overpowered male protagonist and a tsundere love interest. There are no iconic outfits, settings or anything.

I think it's a generic shonen series that tries to pretend it's "deep" and it boggles my mind why it's so popular. I can understand something like Naruto which has had a following for a long time, but this series gets more hype than it deserves.

While most episodes of Adventure Time might give that impression, there is in fact, a dark backstory behind it.

The land of "Ooo" is in fact, a post-apocalyptic Earth after a war devastated everything. Some episodes give us insight into this.

And of course, there is Ice King's backstory.

too bad unlimited wasn't a choice.

Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood gets my vote, though the tie-ins JMS got from that crossover were kind of disappointing.

Sword Art Online winning by that far of a margin makes me sad though. Haven't watched the anime yet, but read the novels and I don't see how much they can make from it. Kirito's two blades, Asuna's rapier, Death Gun, outfits, Silica's pet dragon, and maybe a themed dungeon? Wonder when the hype for this show will finally die off, like it did with Guilty Crown.

I would enjoy seeing Adventure Time stuff though. Have not watched it either, but I know it has a huge following in America.

Soul Eater anyone? I know it's probably not as popular as the ones mentioned, but I feel like there's so much that can be implemented from there, and it'd be almost perfect if it was in conjunction with the release of the soul weapons!Glitter

It really isn't in English speaking countries. Naruto outpaces it by a ridiculous amount, and in case you hadn't noticed, each of the choices only take the most popular with a given publisher/owner.

Adventure Time - Cartoon Network
Sword Art Online - ASCII Media Works
Full Metal Alchemist - Square Enix
Naruto- Shonen Jump
Hello Kitty (and other Sanrio properties...) - Sanrio
Fairy Tail- Kodansha

That seems to be why each of the choices have been made: They're the most popular property in English countries that several publishers have.

I know, it was a "have too" suggestion, which is why I jumped FMA first

Oh my god please adventure time! A Finn hat or mini jake pet would be adorable Glitter

My second choice would be fairy tail because I adore the setting for the anime, and the whole guilds thing is very MMO like. Plus a Happy in game would be too hard for me to resist ;-;

Not really a fan of any of the choices.

I say black butler...I mean, my android already has a head start:

Girasol; How influential is the poll in deciding which one to crossover? Will the winner of the poll (obviously SAO) be the final choice or are you taking other factors (like the comments in this thread) into consideration?

It's quite obvious that SAO is going to win in the poll. is there still a chance that we could get any of the others?

I hate facebook polls. It's a popularity contest.

Last time I saw one, the winner was a poster of a doctor opening the vowels of a dog. Even the people who made the contest were disgusted by the result. But hey, who designed that was more popular, so there's that.

Razmos Wrote:I dislike the idea of a Sword Art Online tie-in. It has no real recognizable characters, no special weapons, no ideas for chairs or pets or anything. It seems like people are just voting for it because it's overrated, and ignoring the creative possibilities.

I have to say that you could have a pretty bad-ass area based off of Sword Art Online considering the anime is based on...being in an MMO.

That being said I have to agree that it's not exactly the best tie-in for GMS, and I'm very surprised it's as popular as it is considering there's no dub at all at this time. I've read seven of the light novels and I have to say that there's certainly a lot they could make into content, especially areas, but there are definitely recognizable characters and possible content.

That aside, I have to agree with Adventure Time. A western show would only have a chance to make it into GMS, there's always a possibility for SAO content to show up in JMS, at which point it could just be ported over.

Out of what's given:
1. Adventure Time
2. FMA
3. Fairy Tail
4. Naruto

Good thing you didn't have an MLP option, because that'll crush everything else like some freak avalanche. Similar results would ensue if Homestuck was put there. Rolleyes

Yes, I'll call it that because that is the impression that most people will get. Read: anyone who doesn't have such 'refined' tastes as the users of Southperry. First impression matters--it doesn't matter how deep your underlying plot is. You're playing a game that has a good chunk of its playerbase in the 10-15 range.

If the show doesn't have any content that makes users unfamiliar with the franchise go 'wow!' or 'that's cute!', then it would be a terrible idea to crossover from it.

First impression of SAO; It has 'online' in the name, so it must be about a MMO.. .Hack already did this, and that wasn't interesting. -Reads of it online- Oh, people who play it that die, also die in real life.. .Hack did that. So no.

I don't see your point.

Maple crossovers have enough animes done, and they're done by Japanese Maplestory, where the animes come from. Why not let the NA(mostly) version do a crossover of a western show?
Adventure Time doesn't have 'wow!' or 'that's cute!'? I totally believe you've never seen it now. o-o

exactly, the crossover material needs to be recognizable. stuff from SAO would literally just blend in as a couple of swords, or an outfit. The unusual and cute nature and style of Adventure Time makes it instantly recognizable, while SAO is just another anime.
