Fixing MapleStory
#61
My biggest problem with Maplestory as it is right now, is the almost complete lack of incentive to do anything together with friends. We need more bosses that require cooperative teamwork instead of just being a DPS-fest.

You have no idea how annoying it is when I want to go on an Empress duo with a friend but realize if we both go in her Damage reflect timing is going to go all crazy. It literally makes everyone have to be a loner.

My biggest pet peeve with Maplestory at the moment is that it is not community based anymore.

More specifically:

1) The competition of leveling/ranks:
The fight to be as high as you can be on the ranks is possibly one of my favourite parts of old maplestory. I like the idea of promoting leveling parties/meeting new people to train with; this promotes playing with friends and meeting new ones. Additionally I hate that max level is a thing in a game like Maplestory, where there's very little to the game after max level.

2) Large Boss Squads:
30 man Zakum and HT runs are awesome! Another one of my favourite part of the game in the old days. I LOVED meeting up with a large group of friends and fighting for a common goal. Those old 3 hour+ zak runs were some of the greatest times.

It seems like these two points are starting to make a comeback (level 250 level cap where leveling seems pretty tough Big Grin) and whatever these 100 man raids are going to be. I'm excited and optimistic for Maplestory for the first time in a long, long time, hopefully Nexon doesn't disappoint.

As dumb as 250 is, it's also a good thing. Looks like grinding might actually be a challenge again, unless they release another SH on steroids, which they will eventually, but now the real grind begins.

I like it the way it is now.

I would love to see you to try to justify that. Love it.

You don't have to justify it. If you like it, you like it.

If he chooses not to justify it his opinion has no validity, which in my opinion is nothing more than spam.

You know that scroll crafting thing? I'd love it if we could customise the scroll to our liking by modifying the recipe. Number of a particular jewel or whatever would be limited to 8 unless otherwise stated, and the number of different jewels (and hence the number of different stats/effects) would have a much lower limit, say 3 or 4; the player might start with even less and have to work his way up to the maximum number of slots by levelling up in the profession.

e.g.
Power/DEX/Wisdom/LUK Crystal - Adds 1 STR/DEX/INT/LUK per crystal
Dark Crystal - Adds 1 allstat per crystal
Lithium - Adds 2% success rate, up to 10%

That's normally fine even if I find it difficult that anyone could like the game the way it is, but as this topic is largely about what needs to be fixed it does need justification in this case.

I don't really think my comment deserved 6 pomegranates but whatever.

I like how the leveling got easier, I don't think anyone enjoyed grinding for 8~11 hours to get to 30

I think the community is still the same and you guys need to take off your nostalgia glasses

-Hitting max level in a day is not smart, especially how stale the end game content is.
-Cubes are a necessary aspect of the game that has high gamble risks
-Pet items become necessary towards end game, and makes looting bareable
-Mesos are worthless, people easily carry 20b on them, 10x the highest amount
-All forms of free market require NX to even have a chance to advertise.

1. Level 250 is the fix.
2. You can get good potential by crafting.
3. You can still loot without pets.
4. games been out for 8 years you'd think people would have more than max by now?
5. You can still spam in the entrance, or do surveys.

- A new cap alone doesn't make the end-game any less stale.
- The profession system is limited by fatigue, there's many things you can't craft, and tiers you (most likely won't) reach.
- We really should be able to set basic shops for free. It's a standard in MMORPGs that Maple still hasn't met (but hopefully will with the auction house).

None of your solutions are dependable. I could work 3 jobs a day and sleep 8 hours, does that mean every povery stricken minority has no right to complain, because that exists?

You know as well as I (I hope), that the time to do surveys is not worth the reward, spamming in the fm entrance will result in nothing but scammers, that's if you can get past the botters. Looting without pets is difficult, because you get knocked around, and it clutters up quickly.

I'm sorry but how blissfully ignorant is your world? I could go on any gold website and buy 50 billion, that's 25 accounts with max mesos for $350, and not even wait a day. You don't know what the flying f`uck you're talking about.

How is this relevant? The game needs fixing, and you state it doesn't with no real understanding of the game at all it seems.

The system changes in unlimited are a great step. Red is a huge opportunity to fix things and i hope they do. I enjoy the baseline that battle mage set for class changes, and the auction house if done right solves major problems.
