[Complete] Unscheduled Maintenance - May 5, 2013

I'm a little worried that they haven't at least made some sort of an update or estimated ending time. Whatever, as long as they do a good job with it they can take as long as they have to.

Well, with this maintenance going on I've been enjoying Elsword. With the way Elsword is structured I don't miss DFO nearly as much as I did before.

Conspiracies aside, I'm one of those who would wish that item dupes will end once and for all.

But then again, knowing Nexon's security... Sigh... At least I DC-ed so many times that I just flipped keyboard and decided to go only for 50 boxes a day and a couple of this and that.

I've just gotten into Dragon Nest again. After experiencing it again I don't think I'll be leaving for a while.

Maybe it was not the latest rollback, can't be sure. Regardless of when it was, I had just charged NX and cubed some stuff. After the rollback I had the same amount of NX as I did after cubing, but the stuff I cubed was reset.
The missing NX was not refunded til much later, so it is not automated. The NX data is probably not affected by rollbacks for safety reasons.

Glad to hear it! I am also an avid Elsword player.

It's not surprising or particularly worrying.
They hit the "off" switch as soon as they heard about the exploit.
Then they sat down to try and figure out how it was done (and how to block it), and also how much damage was done (and how to undo it). Until they've figured both those things out, they can't guess how long it will take, so the only update they can give is "we're still working on it" - which goes without saying.

I would honestly accept an update of "We're still working on it" because it tells me that they are indeed still working on it, and not just sitting around twiddling their thumbs trying to figure out how to go about resolving everything. Even an extremely exaggerated estimation would be acceptable. Maybe even further confirmation of there not being a rollback, because, in my opinion, when the game went down, a rollback was still entirely a possibility.

Nexon is a company. They are losing money for every second the servers are down. If you think they're twiddling their thumbs, or if the employees are being paid to twiddle their thumbs, then I don't know what to say.

The whole point of this server check was to try and find a solution(s) to avoid having to do a rollback. If they were just going to announce 'We'll be (not) having a rollback', we wouldn't have a 'TBD' end time. Basically, read this as 'We're trying our best to avoid a rollback, but don't be surprised if we do once we've exhausted our options'.

I'm glad I didn't stay up all night and wait for this USC to finish Eek

I hope they decide to rollback... they won't be able to fix this properly without doing so. =/

So all of you doom-and-gloom, OMG-THE-ECONOMY-is-destroyed-if-they-dont-do-a-rollback guys, exactly what horrors do you expect to see tomorrow in the FM if they don't do a rollback?
Hyperinflation perhaps? Recall that only a tiny fraction a players are hackers with excess mesos. I am certainly not going to double prices in my shop just for the faint hope that that someone from the 0.1% of players with hacked mesos will want my stuff.
Or maybe the oppposite, valuable stuff deflating? Unless you happen to have whatever the hackers are duping and were intending to sell it, there is no loss for you.
I went through a couple FMs shortly before they took the game down, and other than a lot of emptied shops (I mean cleared out by owners, not sold out) I saw nothing strange.
I think Nexon is doing the right thing if they can avoid a rollback. I, and probably the vast majority of other players, would rather not have everything in the past week undone just so the 1% of highrollers don't lose a bit of their 10B/day profit (and that is assuming Nexon is incapable of removing most of the hacked goods)

I take this as Nexon saying "You've been playing for awhile!, Take a break while we make the game better! Also, here's a smoothie."

I really hope this doesn't affect people who had their items bought with the mesos. I had my shop set up in FM 1 and I made a decent amount in the last 24 hours, though I have no idea if anything was bought by a hacker.

12 hours later??

My gawd. Nexon. Just rollback. We don't need 12+ hour maint.

Nexon is most likely trying to see if they can fix things without a rollback first. Hopefully they realize that whatever they do won't fix things and that a rollback is the best solution.
Worst case scenario is that all of FM is hellbanned + lots of hackers get away with stuff. 15 star'd tyrants from no boom AEEs and cubed gear from cube fragments and whatnot.

edit: nvm I'm stupid cube fragments =/= cubes lol
