Corn Wrote:Hmph. If you're counting DotA2 as an MMO....
League of Legends
Pros:
Highly competitive.
High skill cap.
Incredibly diverse roster of characters.
Stuff that requires money is 100% cosmetic.
Incredibly creative community that pumps out high quality content.
Free.
Quite a lot of lore.
Loads of Southperryans play it.
Cons:
Highly competitive.
High skill cap. (These two can both be a pro and con, depending on if you're a casual or not.)
Community is pretty bad.
Tutorial is iffy.
And yes, I know I just took Malthe's post and molded it to LoL ha ha.
But yeah, another +1 to GW2. Great game...except I'm less than impressed by the end-game content >_>. Haven't really played the game ever since I hit level 80.
Dude why would you be lazy. Fixing that for you by adding more points to each side:
League of Legends
Pros:
Each week a roster of champions are available to try out for free.
For a MOBA it's pretty forgiving when it comes to making mistakes.
Champions and runes can be acquired more quickly with money.
Incredibly large community.
You're always guaranteed a match in a couple minutes or less, even if you play at 3-4 AM.
Most casual friendly of the MOBAs. No gold loss when you die.
Feeding (dying too many times) the enemy team will make things harder, but not necessarily impossible.
Cons:
Not every champion is available from the get-go, so you have to play to unlock them with in-game points if you want to play them permanently.
Newer champions are much more expensive to acquire than older champions.
Champions and runes can be acquired more quickly with money (This can be a pro or con, depending if you are bothered by the idea you can unlock your favorite champion faster with a little bit of cash).
You need to play more to acquire masteries, Summoner spells, and rune slots. Gameplay as well as the strength of your Champion as a Level 1 Summoner vs a Level 30 Summoner is very different because of this.
Brazilian players when it comes to communication
Malthe
You forgot a couple Pros and Cons:
Pros:
All heroes are available from the get-go, so you can sample every hero and see which ones you like to play more.
You can gain some cosmetic items as you play.
In-game mic talk available so you can verbally communicate instead of type.
Many small tips and tricks to learn about game mechanics that will give you an edge over uninformed players.
Essentially free due to Valve drowning all DoTA 2 players in free passes to give to others.
Incredible voicework for each hero, and even for custom in-game announcers.
Cons:
Incredible amount of nuances to remember for each hero and even for items. You WILL find exceptions in many abilities and items in terms of what works against what.
Feeding the enemy team (dying too many times) can easily snowball into utter disaster and make it nigh impossible to win.
Dying can be very painful, because you lose gold each time you get killed by the enemy. See above concerning snowballing into disaster.
Russian players when it comes to communication
Yes LoL has Brazilian players clogging up English speaking games, while DoTA have Russian players clogging up English speaking games.
