As for the video you sent me, I really don't care to watch it for 15 minutes.
I'm sure Africa has some very civilized countries, but in that same aspect they also have incidences like Darfur.
i'd have to say that the reason this "always happens in the U.S." as you put it is because... well, because you live in the US. where if anything happens it will get blown out of proportion. and since you live there, of course the news would care and give more coverage to these kind of events that happen inside the US, as opposed to school shootings in china or somewhere else.

Goosebumps everywhere.
The mood changes so quickly and drastically, it's incredibly disturbing.

Cuban situation is over and the FLQ is... mostly in Quebec. Actually, so was the Cuban situation. Moral of that article is "don't move to Quebec".

I'm not sure if this was a joke or if you were being serious. If it's the latter, I believe a facepalm and rebuttal is in order.

Probably, but whether or not a muslim extremist(s) is responsible for this has yet to be seen.

This seems to happen whenever there is some sort of tradegy nowadays, people come crawling out of the woodwork to pretend that they really care, to gather attention while also criticizing those who are not openly simpathetic. In a few days it will all be back to business as usual.
Nowadays? This is a natural human response to crisis and has been for thousands of years.
Humans NEED to get back to business as usual as soon as possible. It allows them to repair the damage that has been done far faster. When things are ''normal'' then there isn't any hardship, right? We're still here; we're still alive; we'll continue to continue. Another thing is - as harsh as it sounds - those who aren't affected can only have so much sympathy for those who HAVE been affected. This goes for anything. It's hard to sound genuine when you never knew anybody involved and didn't affect you in any way. Even during 9/11, or Katrina, etc; People can only offer their condolences. You literally can do nothing more than that. Does this mean that your acknowledgement is ''fake''? No. It's the only thing we have. We can't zoom around like Superman and save everybody being affected by hardship on the entire planet. All we can do is acknowledge that they've had a bad turn in life and simply move on. It isn't JUST us either; those affected hope for things to go back to normal as well. If everybody is talking about the tragedy that happens for longer than it needs to be spoken of, then victims can't SHAKE that tragedy off their heels.
And don't get me wrong, of course there are those who DON'T give genuine sympathy to victims, but to just assume the worst in a situation like this just reflects badly on you.

Yeah, it's horrible and tragic, but we do not need these major news outlets giving 5 minute updates during the whole debacle. Most information reported within the first day is completely false anyway, they just make pomegranate up or twist things so that they have SOMETHING to put out there.
Honestly, I would prefer they only did a single report on stuff like this and never touched on it again. Terrorism of any kind only works well when it is reinforced every 5 minutes for the next month; I consider the news media today to be MORE responsible for the spreading of fear than the people that do these things.

I find it odd that no-one has claimed responsibility for this.
Normally, they'd proudly declare "We did this! And unless you do as we demand, we will do it again!"

It's important that people stay patient and wait for further investigation without jumping to conclusions like Obama said. I still remember when the Norway tragedy happened people were pointing at Al-qaida and I recall some islamists actually taking the credit for it.
It could well be a single madman, considering the bombs apparently seemed to be home-made and about the size of a soda bottle.

That's what concerns me the most, there seems to be no reason other than "Look, we can do it whenever we choose too" which is more scary than "OUR ORGANIZATION CONSIDERS YOU HEATHENS"

If they haven't been caught and are terrorists then its probably a new strategy. as from a terrorist perspective being all out in the open only really works if u have the muscle to back it up. It would be smarter for them to do events that cause destruction but no one to blame and after it builds, then say who u are. Or maybe something like Locked; said.

While I see your point, it seems you misinterpreted mine. I was not saying that people should not offer their condolences, nor did I say that people are not supposed to move on. Clearly I do not expect people to stay hung up on things forever, there is far too much happening in our lives and our attention spans are being pulled in numerous directions constantly. To expect that prople should stay hung up on a tradegy like this is a ridiculous notion.
My point was that many people on social media are pretty full of s'hit. Yes, I understand that this is a pretty big deal and people need to cope in their own ways, but to feel the need to post how sorry you feel on facebook or how we will "get the bastards that did this" doesn't really provide much to anyone. If I had lost someone in this event, would it make me feel any better that people on facebook were being empathetic towards me without knowing me? Honestly, I am not sure how I would take it, but I would most likely cope in my own way, regardless of all these well-wishers on social media.
The fact that some people take advantage of these tradegies to get attention or "likes," while others get mad because you aren't being as empathetic are they are, also bothers me, but I think I"ll stop there.
Btw, I think you trying to make this about me seems a bit unnecessary, don't you think?

I'm more concerned that so far the 3 witness' people are all Saudi. As if we need an excuse to invade Saudia Arabia for a completely unrealated terrorist cell :|
