The increasing gap between players and bosses.
#41
If we are talking about lowering the gap between funded and unfunded in the context that the unfunded can be in parties. Why not add party only skills. As in you need a hero +paladin to uses this super uber-damage move. or have like a skill that reads out " if you have 6 party members increase your Matt & att buy 300 or +10% resistance for every party member" or something ridiculous like that. It promotes partying a lot of people and creates an atmosphere in which unfunded can take down harder tier bosses because they gain damage or class survivability they need to survive. As unfunded players dont care about being stronger than others but simply being able to complete the task.

That is what I had in mind, much like how you got a bonus if you had all the classes when doing the Orbis PQ. To encourage but not force partying varying bonuses could also be given for all Adventurer/all Heroes/all Resistance parties and the like since each group has at least one character that can crash and would add to the fun of figuring out how to beat a boss with the set-up you have instead of just picking whoever's strongest.

I have been opening shoes/glove boxes for almost a month and I have only seen one cube come out of them.

I've gotten 3 in 21-28 days of RA.. The amount given-- and the way given aren't what I consider a step up. It's that you can gain a cube from ways other than NX. If they can keep making content that gives NX items for in game accomplishments, then I'm happy.

Its crazy that Nexon keeps tweaking the bosses, thinking that this will somehow solve the problem. Because of the enormous damage gap between the rich and the poor, when they make a boss that is strong enough to not be soloable by a funded player, a group of unfunded players have no chance at beating it.

They keep avoiding the real problem, but they have to face it eventually. And it has such a simple fix. They can apply a curve to the damage range formula. That way, funded people keep their high damage and unfunded people have damage that is close enough to funded people to be able to play the game properly.

I haven't seen anyone bring this up, so I'll point it out. Another issue with the gap between funded and unfunded players is that the unfunded players are far less motivated to fund characters because of the knowledge that the vast majority of the money they spend will result in little or no gain at all. People spend hundreds of dollars on equips that would only be ten or twenty dollars in other games, and people don't want to fund new characters when they come out. Not to mention that bosses geared toward funded players tend to 1hko anyone who isn't playing a warrior or mage. But then there's no amount of health or dps that can keep people from losing against Magnus and hist nearly impossible to dodge 1hko attacks or Arkarium's full map 1hko.

What I think they should do is first nerf the potential system's overall increase in damage while removing or revamping the vast majority of the crap lines. Then they need to nerf the health on bosses to reflect the weaker players and make them less Nintendo Hard. And then they need to make is to every job can reasonably survive in any boss fight without having to reach around 20-30k hp (give them attacks with iframes, make Puppet and Wild Trap absorb more damage, make avoidability trigger the iframes they used to, make dodge skills trigger iframes). Hell, they might even need to redo the HP and MP growth from the ground up.

Even though I agree with free cubes, from crafting or drops or whatever, I don't think it'd work as some of you put it. They'd release nerfed versions that can get 6% tops. I know that some of you have cubed before and know that getting 9%stat+ per equip isn't so easy... If there were free cubes that could get 9%+ pot there would be no point in buying nx, regardless of success rates.
200-300 of the 400$ I've spent were cubing and most of my equips are 9%-12% except two that are 15%+. If they release a way to get free cubes from whatever that can get you same stats as the ones we currently have there would be no gap and no reason to spend nx, unless you are rich and can spend a lot in smc and locks or something.
Also, the party buff idea is nice... but isn't it pointless? Why wouldn't funded party to do more damage? Wouldn't the gap stay the same?

Maybe the cubes could give bad stats bud still raise the tier?
Or the vice versa, they could give the same stats but not raise the tier.

This is where the "fast foward"' version of cubes takes place. Dropped cubes would have a normal rate (i.e. same as regular cubes), but have the caveat of possibly lowering the item's tier.

Regular cubes would be beneficial because they would not lower the tier of the item. And the more expensive cubes would do different things (like add the 3rd potential line or have higher rates of upgrading). And depending on how hard it would be to get the cubes themselves, some people might opt for the NX version because it's too difficult to get the dropped cubes. They could do other things like making the regular cube only upgrade to epic only and then have a separate cube to get to unique. Then they could make an "nx-only" legendary tier like they do right now. There are plenty of ways Nexon could implement non-NX cubes and still make profit on regular cubes.

Alternatively they could just make the cubes tradeable and easier to access via FM shops, but that would make it, again, a seller's market, and the prices could be ridiculous (based off the NX:meso ratio in game, it's WAY too expensive for any unfunded person to afford).

No it's not pointless. Yes, you're right that a funded party would do more damage. But the problem isn't really that funded parties can kill bosses really fast but that un-/slightly funded parties cant kill the bosses at all or even close enough to warrant trying multiple times.

I honestly disagree with this.
You're saying that people will get mad by making their numbers lower but still higher than others, but they wont mind it
if it's suddenly 10x easier to get where they are? And on top of that without NX? That doesn't seem logical at all.

SaptaZapta Wrote:But you're wrong. Having 300% STR makes you hit 4 times as hard (since your base str counts too).

Damage formula: Damage = wpn * (4 * STR + DEX) * ATTACK / 100
If your STR grows from 999 to 999+3000 your damage will be 4 times as much.

He said he was just pulling random numbers to show what he meant.

I never got why Nexon didn't experiment with this more for the more unfunded people.
If they did this right it could be a really awesome thing.

But it's been happening all along. The infamous "power creep".
Once upon a time, 10k range was something for the well-funded only. Then potential came out, and suddenly anyone could attain it with just a couple of 3% equips hunted from monsters.
Once upon a time, Empress gear was something for the well-funded only. Nowadays it costs a fraction of what it used to.
We already see this starting to happen with Tyrant/Nova/Heliseum gear.

As long as they get to keep their 7- and 8-digit damage numbers, the funded don't know or care what the unfunded do (as long as they don't actually catch up). And since my suggestion reserves Legendary potential for NX users only, they are sure to remain ahead.

Because it requires effort and they cant really sell a skill. (dont look at evan's or dual blades.....). But yeah it would be totally awesome.

agreed. too much of the content in high levels can only be accessed if you spend heaps of cash.

many of the bosses are just high hp, with no real skill needed to kill them except to spend heaps of money to get equips

I wish this would somehow get shortened... but from the patches that i see coming up, i dont see it getting any smaller.
Wonder how long itll be before the gap is so immense that the game dies, or basically becomes two games in one (one with weaker players killing weaker bosses,) (and one with stronger players killing OP bosses and not wasting time 1 hitting the mediocre bosses)

The gap between a funded player who spent nx and a funded player who didnt will not change much with unlimited (simply because flames arent a nx item, it will still be easy for the funded player to get it compared to others, but its not pure nx), the only that changes into a nx thingie is the inner ability. Knowing how nexon america LOOOOOOOOOOOVES to make items that is hard to obtain accessable with money, I can see your frustatration on this situation. Things like tyrant belt should've never come from anywhere but hot time lucky reward or killing the boss itself.

Expecting flames to appear in cash shop tho, so my argument is probably going to be useless.

why would flames appear in the cash shop...? The only one I would see being possibly related to nx to get is the 150 flame, which is useless to most players except for the ones with tyrant, meaning that they are already willing to pay out of the butt for this game.
That being said, we'll see what happens with the player gap with AO's and flaming gear.

The gap is big,but that what motivate you to try to get yourself up to par in killing these bosses. Nexon has hand out many events to help people go up in damage e.g the hot time event with protection scrolls, free cubes, and other events. It isnt hard to merch anymore with all these events happening that can give an unfunded player an opportunity to improve. I've been unfunded for years until 1 year ago. Take advantage of the events thats all I got to say.

Because its a good source of money for nexon? Flames are like cubes in a way, except that it isnt nx related. When you use one it will change your items stat, and you will continue using them untill you get what you want, hence the reason why it could be a good source of money. If nexon america refused to allow players to obtain tyrant stuff without killing magnus, then they would make less money, so they made the webpage machine, and there people spend a pomegranate ton of money to test their luck.

Flames might not be nx related, but watch nexon america make it into nx related content, thats why Im expecting them to appear in cash shop, not just for lvl 150.

And I cant recall kms having the 100% additional potential scroll in cs, might be wrong on this, if Im not, thats another good example of ingame item appearing in cash shop.

This will continue happening untill you realise that the main goal for this company is to make money, if they're not making enough money yearly, they will continue to add new "cash shop" ways for you to obtain rare items. The point of killing a boss will slowly vanish, since its not worth funding yourself so you can kill it when you can obtain it from fm while the boss is still unkilled.

Thats not what people are trying to prove here, its the fact that nexon allows access to improvement by opening their wallet, and the gap between a person who spend a lot and to someone who dont spend at all will continue to increase. Take 4 years ago as an example, when there was no cubes, the only way to really "buy" yourself to victory was gacha or going to the meso selling webpages. The 2nd option could get you banned while the first 1 wasnt always profitable. If theres some guy who wants to spend 2000 dollars on this game, he'd end up with like 12% stat on all his items at least, while the person who want to spend 0 will have to sacrifice a lot of time to achieve what the other person have. In norway you make about 10-20 euros per hour at a non educated job, if you compare that 1 hour you'd spend at work to 1 hour ingame, you'd obviously see that you would achieve more by spending irl money instead of spending a lot of time ingame to obtain those items.

Personally I dont spend any money on cubes, and I never will because its just not worth the money, rather spend the money on something that will last(irl related stuff), not something in a game that will be replaced 3-4 updates later.

I thought the game was already like that with some people being able to kill ht/zak in seconds while for others it takes almost the full time limit.
