DotA2 - Original Thread
Tree seems to have become a new Empire pocket pick; they've picked him again.

Now that I think about it like that, maybe the pro scene are that afraid of Enigma and Tide's ults being used against them like that. Dendi confirmed for utterly shifting the metagame with his presence.

You're thinking about it the wrong way; Tide (and to a lesser extent, Engima) isn't being banned or picked because he's not a favored hero in the current metagame. And there's several factors that play into that:

- Magnus got crazy buffs while Tide's ult got nerfed
- Split push meta favors high mobility heroes
- Na'ix is pretty popular right now
It's not a splitpush meta, otherwise we'd be seeing a LOT more brood and lycan. Splitpush was back in brood/lycan/morphling time. Lycan and Morphling haven't been relevant since the end September 2012 (aka v6.75), and Brood has been falling down gradually since July 2012 but really started to accelerate into oblivion after 6.75 just like Lycan and Morphling.
The only time there's anything even vaguely resembling a splitpush meta is when KotL and PL are in the game. And realistically that turns the game into more of a siege game than anything else. Right now the meta revolves around early ganking, roaming, picking heroes off, accelerating the point at which your carry can be relevant so you can force teamfights during the midgame, and group pushing towers. It's also very heavily focused on aggressive trilanes and shutting down the enemy carry during early and midgame.
I saw a ton of KOTL, Tinker and NP play recently. I guess it's not split push in the sense of multiple lanes being pushed at once, but there is a lot of high mobility, pick off important heroes and take towers that your opponents are unprepared to defend type play.
Yeah, it's super global right now. Prophet, Io, Clockwerk, Tinker, KotL, Storm Spirit, and even Chen make for a ton of global presence. N'aix bomb storm spirit is so funny.

Didn't Magnus get re-nerfed in a way, at the very least nerfed Skewer so it wasn't so ZOMGHAX as before?

Ah Naix. His ult and free BKB ability makes him so un-fun to kill. Think a target is alone? SURPRISE! Want to outrun him without an escape mechanic? NOPE, Open Wounds time. Want to nuke him down? Free BKB spam!

**Nature's Profit is ALWAYS relevant. Haha.
I just pick Bane whenever I see Lifestealer. It works out really quite well.

I found a list of epic competitive games on /r/dota2 and I've been watching it from newest to oldest. I just watched this.

holy pomegranate.
There's a ~25 minute pause at ~24 minutes into the game which you can skip unless you want to hear Luminous and Godz talking about lasagna for a long long time.
you should watch some of the mouz games from when it was Bamboo, sing, 1437, CWM and black^.
Especially from their TI2 qualifier games against VP and such.
Two of those are on there so I'll watch those now. Game 2 and 3 of the VP vs. Mouz series.

Oh man, they're surprised at Dark Seer getting picked and Lich and DP are getting first bans and it's normal. I feel like I've walked into a different century.
Mouz vs VP game 2 is the most intense, game 3 is just glorious. Enjoy!
Sweet jesus.

Singsing really is batshit insane.

The video for anyone who wants to pomegranate themselves.
I'm very sure he knew the game was over, so no harm in trying some insane idea. It was funny seeing the Rapier being tossed back and forth before it went back to the Dire side again.
That feeling when I picked Lina and was sent to mid. 4 melees (Brewmaster/PL/Naix/Spectre) plus me vs Silencer/Gondar/Clinkz/Pudge/DK.

Died 13 times that game due to Pudge keep annihilating me. Pudge got REALLY fed. We still won due to everyone else on my team outcarrying them harder, and me playing both a 4 and a 5 role. These games are so bizarre yet fun.
Quote:In the first quarter of 2013, Valve Software's Dota 2 passed Riot Games' League of Legends as the most played "core" PC title, according to a report from DFC Intelligence. The report covers PC gaming in North America and Europe based on the DFC Intelligence PC Game Meter service

Well that's unexpected. Although, they don't reveal the actual numbers or how this was measured, so i'm not sure what to really see this as. If we counted people still playing dota1 then i wouldn't doubt it at all, but they're excluding the east + dota1 isn't a part of the numbers.

Bit more discussion about it: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmess..._id=407146
Gonna wait for more information to surface before really creating my own stance on this. Right now, to me anyway, this is as credible as when someone used x-fire statistics to claim which games were the most played. Which is to say, not very credible to me.

You should be able to win that lane. Next time you lane against a Pudge, put a ward on the opposing high ground so he can't hook you from fog.

this video gets more and more fun the later it goes.

Oh yes I will keep in mind the next time I go against a Pudge on mid.

On a sidenote, it's crazy how powerful Phantom Lancer gets with just a few levels. Again my team was failing to the enemy. With a Diffusal Blade, a few levels to max out Juxtapose, everyone that tried to combat my team couldn't handle the zerg rush. Although in retrospect the game would have been much safer had I picked a support. Again, disgusting how things can quickly turn around with a few levels and key items.
My god, funniest sh'it of the week. Who knew Donkeys can be so OPed?

Finally got time to play again, which might not last long because I'll start working on finals/projects soon.
Played Tusk and he seems really fun and easy. Have you guys played together lately? :o
