LiquidSwing Wrote:Are you reading something im not? Additional Options are pretty straight forward, ill paste what Max had to say:
Spoiler
Items have become more powerful! Equipment from drops, blacksmithing, and shops will have a chance to come with Additional Options! These additional stats will appear as orange text beside the regular stats of the item (Note: this means that Additional Options, above average stats, and scrolled stats will all be combined into one number).
-You can receive 1 to 4 Options per item and there are five ranks of Additional Options, each with better stats.
-Certain boss items will always receive 4 Options, and have a greater chance of getting higher ranked stats.
-Items that drop may also vary in required level.
Only weapons, armor, accessories, and pocket items can have Additional Options. This does not include secondary weapons and shields, rings, or medals. If youre lucky, youll also receive the extra Additional Options that are possible to get (% total damage, % all stats, % boss damage, and reduction in required level). These will appear in bolded white text.
A new item called the Flame of Reincarnation has been added! This item was made for equipment from before this update, it gives Additional Options to items! There are 5 different kinds, each for a different level range. The Flame of Reincarnation drops from boss monsters, and the more difficult bosses will drop the higher level Flames.
However, when you use a Flame on an item, it will become untradeable on equipping and receive a Scissor count of 5. This means that you can use a maximum of 5 Karma Scissors (Platinum if the item requires it) before it becomes completely untradeable.
For items that were initially fully tradeable (like a weapon), it will also become untradeable on equipping. However, when the item is equipped, you will need to use the new Silver Karma Scissors. They are available through in-game means, you do not need to buy them from the Cash Shop~
Fully untradeable items (those that cant be scissored at all) will stay untradeable, will not gain a scissor count, and will only receive additional options.
I do not really understand why you are saying this will destroy old gear. Flames of Reincarnation can grant the same amount of additional options to old gear that new gear can have. Of course, I do understand that making an item only tradeable with the new scissors and only tradeable 5 times is a pain for people with many alts. Then again, for people with just 1 main it isn't much of a big deal.
I honestly did not know Flames of Reincarnation existed. However, can you re-add additional options much like a cube? Because if you can't, or if it's a cash item, then it will most likely make old gear useless still. Sure, you have a chance for good stats, but the likelyhood that you will get it is probably pretty low, especially considering the types of buffs I've seen.
Plus there's also the part about getting flames for your gear (which is probably Cygnus for most people who don't want to replace their current gear), which creates another issue of...what drops those? Probably bosses a lot of people can't kill.

all bosses drop them, zak, etc.
tbh it really is just another cube system, except much harsher on older gear where potential was pretty fair for old equips.
The new Henesys looks amazing...but I don't know how I feel about no longer seeing that treehouse in the background, that was sort of the icon of MapleStory to me...
Where are the extractions? Locked you are too slow, we expect you to be available 24/7, prioritize extractions over your job, rocket to your computer the very minute patch is out (if it really is impossible for you to jump through a wormhole in timespace, catch the files in future and upload them on the very second in present), definitely not sleep (put an alarm to wake you up or something) and when you do upload the extractions, we want them to be clean and in good order. Don't forget the obligatory chinchillin' videos and sweet pineapples.
I like the new background in Henesys a lot, while Maple World is already quite large, it makes the world look more expansive, more complete and more like a real world.
One of the best things about Maple's style (along with it's music) is the background art. examples I can include are the road to the Dead Mine, where you can see Lion Heart Castle rising from the mist in background past an expansive forest. I love how you climb up over this forest and you see this really forboding and awesome sight in the background after spending so long looking at a background of just trees.
also, the actual Zakum maps in Dead Mine, where in the 3 maps beforehand you can see the tree of Zakum's altar getting closer as you approach it.
And the snowy maps from Monster Park and Monster Park Extreme, where the whole map sparkles and there is a full moon and snowy mountains.
I'm hoping for more revamps like this, especially Perion or Orbis

I agree 100%, If they revamp Perion though, I really hope they keep the windy cloud cover, that's what makes defines Perion for me. And yeah Orbis is looking really lackluster compared to the new towns, as well as Leafre. I don't know about you guys, but Leafre is my least favourite town in Maple, I actually have to mute my speakers because the BGM drives me insane.
I'm sort of bummed they didn't merge Mikhail with the new DW (even though they are completely different now) I really like my Mikhail, but he's just so out of place..

Translation for the Insoya patch notes that iAmFear also posted earlier.
I wonder if I should just make new threads for these, since I always end up posting them a couple pages after the OP and a lot of people miss it.
I definitely agree with the background comment, it's a great way to show how you're getting closer to your destination in a 2D game and being able to spot what's coming up soon is a fun little touch that makes the game feel more entertaining.
Also, I just found the one thing in this patch that I definitely like and want besides Arkarium Easy Mode:

lol! Thief Rabbit breeds with Charming Slime, creates Chibi Phantom

No don't change Leafre =(
Leafre is my favorite map in maple, its so peaceful there.
Someone mentioned in a previous post the difficulty of getting FoRs for higher-end gear. This is my biggest gripe with the system, only a select few will even be able to even get 140 FoRs especially after Unlimited boss buffs and apparently in KMS no one has 150 FoRs. As someone transitioning to Fafnir/150 gear this is extremely disheartening, even though I have those items, I will be unable to Flame them adequately. You'd think if I can afford these items, I can boss; that is not the case based on a variety of factors. It goes against every bone in my body to say this, but FoRs should be available for/from NX. Much like cubes, albeit less effective ones were made into normal drop items.
This is something I was going to Q&A at a later time, but it's worth previewing here. Could using items of lower level be more cost-efficient when FoRs come out? Examples include either of the pendants from Silent Crusade coins, lower leveled earrings, etc.
Finally they've got around to doing a graphics revamp, I've been wanting that for so long! Too bad it's just Henesys. I hope they are quick with the rest and do all the maps, Ossyria/Ludi etc. Knowing Nexon they will probably drag it out as long as they can.
As for Dawn Warrior, if I get a slot I'll make one if not then what ever. I'm not sure I dig the whole sun and moon theme for the class. It might have been better suited for something else. Back to impatiently waiting for the Night Walker revamp i guess.

Might it occur to you that the pain of FoRs could be negated simply if the system was not introduced? I'm certain that one of my friends quit Maple partially due to this as he found the idea of items becoming literally worthless after a certain amount of trades repulsive, being an economics major who once did a paper about real money trading. As for your question I believe the Cygnus set would be good enough depending on what you're aiming for. I haven't heard of any game-breaking additional potentials that are exclusive to level 150+ items so the gear you have now may be sufficient although you'll likely balk at the idea of having a trade limit.
Now, as for my own question: If an item drops after Unlimited and it has Additional Options, does it have the same scissors limit as a FoR-ed gear or not?
