I would be shocked if this gen didn't have your typical birds, bugs, legendaries and whatnot. I think they've gotten too comfortable with their formulas.
I guess an evolution isn't SO bad, but they'd have to do it with something that makes sense and not just some silly, random Pokemon that shouldn't get one but some people want one for laughs. A pre-evo of anything though would be immediate disappoint since you don't even USE those. They're there essentially to make it take longer to get the final evo of that line than it used to.
What Pokemon REALLY needs are rare Pokemon. Not ''legendaries'' because those are just handed to you and they focus so much attention on legendaries that it removes any unique qualities about them. Gen 2 was the only gen that had legendaries that felt like legendaries, but even that wasn't enough. You need things that take effort to obtain, and are pineappleing rare to find to begin with. pomegranate like 1~5% chances, and that are actually GOOD! The flaw with current ''rare'' ones is that they almost always suck ass. They're there literally to fill out the Pokedex as well as allow you to say, ''Yeah, I got that'', but they're garbage. A lot of ''one-offs'' fall into this category and that's the reason why they get no love. Well, another reason is that Pokemon works in segments, or gens, so each gen essentially has you forgetting most of the past Pokemon entirely. They seem to only try vaguely at emulating rarity/value for certain Pokemon but fail at it. ''OMG LOOK AT THIS EPIC POKEMANZ! YOU WANT THEM DON'T YOU?! Well, here's everything you need to catch them. Here's where you can find them, guaranteed. Oops, did we ruin the experience? Oh well!'' I mean, there's HUNDREDS of Pokemon but how many of them even remotely feel ''special''?
Pokemon needs to be more complex than just catching a few Pokes then beating every trainer in the entire game no problem. It's too linear and there isn't a reason to collect most of the Pokemon that exist. You pick your favorites of that gen and beat the entire game. No depth.
ANOTHER thing is stop making the Gyms/Elites use a specific type only. These trainers are supposed to be the top dogs, testing trainers who challenge them. No decent trainer uses only one type. None. Using one type means you find ONE Pokemon that's strong against it for guaranteed victory. They need to have diverse teams so that you can't just plow through with your starter or whatever all the time.
This. Totally this. Especially the Gym Leaders. I can understand the trainers throughout the regions, and maybe some of the first Gym Leaders, but the multi-typed trainers shouldn't be limited to the boss of the crime organization and the League champion.

Feebas was absolute hell to catch in R/S/E, fishing in specific 'tile' in a map that's completely random.
At least the gym leaders in gen5 'tried' to mix it up with dual type Pokemon...but yea they should be more diverse in their team.

Also, wasn't Bagon only available in one tiny room in the 3rd generation?

I think R/S/E did a decent job of having some really hard to get Pokemon. I remember everyone at my school freaking out over the puzzle to catch the Regis and Feebas was damn near impossible to find.

But they don't do this enough is my point. Also, Feebas is sort of a joke Pokemon. It's one of the Pokemon that's rare just to be rare. Milotic is alright, but you could literally get just about any of the other 200 Water types in 3rd Gen without missing out on anything. Milotic was really if you wanted it for its appearance.
I want rares to be valuable as well. Rarity =/= value. If I find something rare I want to be able to crap my pants and feel the need to immediately boot something out of my team to put it in its place. At the moment even IF there are some rare Pokemon they never offer anything worthwhile. Most Pokemon are just what type they are + a skin. The issue really lies in Pokemon's incredibly basic combat system I think. There isn't a whole lot you can do with the way it works currently. I doubt you could have anything ''special'' without changing the system since ''special'' in monster games means unique abilities and powers as well as rarity. In Pokemon even though you have some that learn unique moves that aren't much different than any other move of their type, and since strategy is completely nonexistent in the main game you could really do without them. You mostly use the same two skills per fight with any given Pokemon in your team. Depending on the moves you can technically use just 1, but 2 saves PP.

Chained myself another shiny Eevee and looking forward to shiny Sylveon's colors.
My brother really hopes that the mystery Pokemon is a Ghost type Eeveelution. How silly is that!

I've always wanted a Floweon, what I would call a flying eevee. It could learn air slash too, it would be beautiful ; - ;

The chances of another Eeveelution this generation is pretty much nil. if there was another one they would have revealed it with Sylveon. They held off on releasing the promotional artwork/trailers for the Pikachu/Eevee short to wait for Sylveon's unveiling. They wouldn't reveal another one now after all that.

The Regis turned me into a goddamn braille expert. I'd go around school telling people what all the dots on the door meant and it was just the best.

I tested every single damn tile 3-4 times. Found all 6 of them.
Do not ever want to do it again.

When they released new Eeveelutions back in gen 2 and 4, they came in pairs, so it's not entirely impossible.

Saw this a few hours ago, and honestly I hope it isn't real (although at this point it's looking like it is...) That new form just looks so... fucking stupid. What the hell were they thinking?
