An Archer's "Where to Train" guide
#1
August 18, 2010: Took long enough, didn’t it? I’m finally updating my guide. I know I’ve mentioned many times that I was going to update, and then nothing came of it. The game has changed A LOT. When I started, it would take almost an hour to get to level 10. Now it takes 10-15 minutes tops. When this guide was originally written, there were two archer classes. Now there’s 3 (Wind Archers). Well, sorry for the delays, the update is here. Enjoy!

Changes: Moved all old training spots and old information into spoilers. As “useless” as they are, some people might like the nostalgia they bring (myself included).
-Took out first job color scheme (melee vs. bow/crossbow)
-Added in updated training spots (Time Temple hasn’t been implemented yet, cause the patch hit before I could finish)
-Summary version updated

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello and welcome to my “Where to level” guide. This was written as Tylx has seemed to move on and though her list provides good places to train in the past and many of those are still good areas, some of the newer good places to train have not been added. This list is a combination of the two: Places that I’ve found good to train at coupled with places that she has included on the list.

 Spoiler

-This guide is written for a specific group of people and assumes a few things:
1. That you know what an archer is and how to allocate both SP and AP properly (meaning you don’t have points in LUK, didn’t go thrust first and didn’t acquire items like INT overalls and +7’d melee weapons for use during training, etc.)

2. That you understand what equipment a standard archer would have and do whatever it takes to improve your damage (short of things that are against the Terms of Service). This would include simple things such as using a 100%’d dex Sauna/Bath robe, 3 dex green bamboo hat instead of class items that add less stats, despite how bad they look and using the bow suited for your level and things along those lines. In summary, you will be the “average” damage ranged archer with the bare minimum cheap equips (100%’d overall costs less than 400k: 15k for the bathrobe, 350k for 100% overall dex scrolls and Green bamboo hats cost under 100k and are reasonable affordable acquisitions of most archers).

As a last point that serves as a good reminder:

WhiteAsIce Wrote:Your equipment does not determine where you should train. Ultimately, your skills determine your damage and where you should train.

Your equips determine the rate of training you have in a given place but it is your skill build that determines where you train, not your equips.

Formalities: Though I have contributed information to this guide, I do not take full credit for it. Many of the places found on this list are found within various guides around this forum. Thanks to everyone who has contributed by suggesting places to train, builds to try and to those who wrote guides for the benefit of fellow archers.

Q&A (If you have a question that isn’t answered by the following, feel free to post and ask)

Summary
Categories: Fastest Training-Self explantatory. Fastest training without considering of meso drain/pot consumption
Most Logical training-Best place to train in terms of exp without paying an arm and leg to obtain
Most enjoying (grind free)-A fun way of leveling. Not always fastest but often more enjoying.
Best leeching-Place to go if you have high level'd friends (or another computer) willing to help you train
Best meso gain without using pots-Place to go if you just got hacked or if you're building up from basically no mesos
Best meso gain with pots-You already have decent equips but need somewhere to go to upgrade to get money to upgrade to even better equips.
Best drop hunting place-Place where you might lose money until you find the "jackpot" drop that will supply money for many levels to come.

2nd job has training grounds divided into the two jobs: Crossbowman and Hunter. The main difference is in their mobbing attacks. Iron Arrow (Crossbowman attack) is straight while Arrow bomb (Hunter attack) can travel and hit monsters in both vertical and horizontal directions from impact (and also stuns). Iron Arrow will be abbreviated IA and Arrow Bomb will be referred to as just Bomb.

Green = Both Hunter and Crossbowman
Blue = Hunter
Red = Crossbowman

In 3rd job, the places will be colored as follows:

Green = Strafe first build
Blue = Arrow Rain/Arrow Eruption first build
Red = Early Inferno Build

Places where builds do not matter will be in Black. If a place is more ranger/sniper friendly, it will be specified in italics.

Suggestion: I believe that bains are a good training spot for lvl 80+ Snipers.

Do you mean the armory, the caves of trial III or that mushroom shrine place?

The latter two have too much climbing and the pot cost at the armory will be immensely high. Its like training at himes: Decent exp for a major pot cost. There are better options out there (and really, I dont think its an option at 8x at all, least from what I've heard from from other archers.

I meant the armory, and I'm not sure about the 8x, might be higher :p

I've even heard of a lvl 15x Marksmen training there o.o

i think the lvl 30-50 sections should be reviewd

i am i little bit above average damage wise per level

(i have 10att wg and scrolled vaulter+sauna (level 45 btw))

and it seems that most of the training spots mentioned are far to difficult to get any worth while exp out of them.

i mean i was killing some zombie lupins recently, and it seems they were ok exp

overall, the guide was helpful, but needs perfecting

Hmmm, you have a point that some of the places were a bit "early" but they're "alternatives" at those earlier stages and its not like they arent mentioned in the later level ranges.

Using Z-lupins as an example, its definitely possible to go there late 3x, however, it definitely makes more sense later on when you're 4x or even 5x. That's why Z-lupins are mentioned in the 4x and 5x sections as well (in the "previous training spots still worth training at" section). I suppose you can look at this as "the absolute earliest you can train at a given spot" and whatnot. That being said, I think the recommendations in the color coded summary are "accurate" so to say.

Thanks for the comment and I'll keep it mind.

As for 15x marksmen at bains... erm skeles are better >_> Only possible reason of going bains is to meso farm I think. That being said, I'll look into it again I suppose.

I'm pretty sure that once you've hit 15x, you're stuck at skeles and newties. I highly doubt any where else can be more effective unless we get new releases.

It doesn't have to be the most efficient map right, just a decent alternative for those who either can't find a map or are bored from always newties/skeles.

I went to scuba pepes at 35 and didnt find it to be good exp at all. The way the map is set up sucks and teddies were faster at 35. And i dont think one level will change that now that im at 36 but teddies suck hard core at 36 so i unno where to go.

Jackk cant really say much for 4x-5x levels.
With Retalion, Luster Pixies ftw?
With ALastReprise, PG Mule ftw?

So im at monkey forest 2 now and ill post this ofr any one else cpq /teddy till 38 then lupin solo with a lice lightning or a cleric its godly either way.
I loot every 2 mins and its still amazing.
If you have a llowere level friend or someone who needs meso get them to loot for you and if there low lvl enough they wont take any of your exp but you will get half the mesos.

That's the old zombie method I would call it (back when zombie maps were flat). Trading in faster exp (as you're not looting) for less mesos. Its definitely an option but really I think either/all options are fine.

I'll add this into the guide later.

Pirates will beat out Gryphon's with a level 11 AE/AR. A level 7 AE/AR will be better at Pirates as well if you can't navigate Gryphon's too well. Haven't tried Parking Lot, but I'd assume Pirates would be better.

Ive never gotten to tried parking lot but the monsters there in our version are "glitched" (as in you cant hi them unless they're moving) so... I'd say stay at pirates.
