Quote:The cat keeps creeping out of the "Star Wars" bag when it comes to the reports that original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles from the classic sci-fi film.
The latest evidence: George Lucas has opened his big mouth.
Lucas all but confirmed that the actors who originally played Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia will reclaim their famed characters in "Star Wars: Episode VII." "We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison -- or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, 'Look, this is what's going on,'" Lucas (accidentally?) told Bloomberg Businessweek.
Lucas backtracked, saying, "Maybe Im not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them."
Then he tried to cover his tracks: "I wont say whether the negotiations were successful or not."
...
This could either turn out really good or really horrible.

Considering that Star Wars pretty much destroyed their careers... yeah.

Well, if Star Trek could make movies with geriatric Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, and the rest...

Except for Harrison Ford.
Plus, if memory serves, the other two didn't exactly have careers before the movies either.
I'm just curious to see how bad the plot is going to be for Episodes 7-9.

Maybe as actors. Mark Hamill is the best joker voice actor, period.

It did, really?
Anyways, I wouldn't mind this. However, I have heard Vader is coming back, and that would suck.

You're mistaking the OT for the prequels. Hamill, Fisher, and Ford received overwhelming praise for their roles.

Not to mention, The Empire Strikes Back is widely considered by critics to be one of the greatest movies of all time.

Oh god. Carrie Fisher looks NOTHING like she did when she was in Star Wars. Harrison Ford is also getting really old. No idea what Mark Hamill looks like now, but considering he was noticeably older after his accident I can't imagine him aging that well.
Unless they are all playing their roles but much much older, I cannot see this working out well.

It could be that the protagonists of the film(s) are Han's, Luke's, etc.'s kids, and they'll just be playing the protagonists parents.

Uh, no. How many films did Hamill and Fisher get after star wars? It did kill their careers, they've said as much
