Molly Wrote:excellent post. personally, i cannot wait to take my ship into battle with HT as i have only seen buccs so far. (time leap mules FTW!-nonstop echo >.<) also personal skill DOES come into play here....what's that you say? maple takes no skill?! i say to you-welcome to the pirate class! the dawn of actual skill usage! when i first started i couldn't keep my ship alive for more than a few minutes. i am now able to keep my ship going for long stretches of time by learning how to time on board and off. newties are auto-aggro and present the kind of rope-climbing BS that is present at HT. learning to use the rocks in the cave will be the best skill a corsair can learn. and as a note-so far i haven't noticed 1/1 affecting my ship, but i may have missed it since i'm still learning. my hubby is a 13x bucc but i havent had a chance to watch him yet as i'm too focused on my own HP bar and ship icon.

i've asked his sister to help us make a video so we can watch it carefully, or if anyone wants to help us in Windia i'd be willing to test dmg using all possible scenarios with a nice clean cut comparison of equal level and geared pirates.

All you really have to do for now is go bossing enough for you to determine how many times a ship breaks on average at major bosses. At different levels would help as well, for example at 13x, 14x, 15x, and 16x. Because i know you'll get that far. Wink

Well I didn't feel like reading every post in this, but I have a corsair and I brought it to Zak at level 120 just for fun and to get practice with getting off and on the battleship. It was actually surprisingly easy when you figure out which hand is causing which damage and what animation went along with it. Like the top left hand for instance it normally does a blue animation that'll do 1 dmg and just a KB, but if it does a purple hand it'll do about 2k or so dmg. So if you see the purple hand just get off the boat and back on. It's really not that hard once you start figuring out the bosses and the animations. So to say a Buccaneer would outdamage a corsair depends a lot on the persons skill of the battleship with Cannon. Considering Buccaneers a lot of the time can just dodge attacks from Zakum etc by using their attacks.

While we're on the topic of Buc's DPS, in comparison to other classes, are Buc's really that bad at bossing? You guys are making me want to quit my Buc because I love to boss xd. For example, how do Buc's compare to Marksmen <_<.

I'm not sure if I should get offended at that comment or not. Your friends should still take you to HT because #1 without washing you should be able to, #2 speed infusion is nice, #3 time leap is nice, #4 some friends they'd be if all they cared about were the highest levels.

Granted there's some push for stronger leveled characters, like 160 preferred, and basic "godly" equipment, but I've gone on HT runs with lvl 14x buc's before and not just because they were looters. I can't judge how good or bad they were at it, but speed infusion turns strafe into a mini hurricane and resetting bishop's res and echo can be a life saver.

Big Grin. Good to hear other people thinking like I am. Being a Marksmen makes you realize that support skills such as Sharp Eyes are great! I feel that Buc support skills are just as good if not better in some situations than SE is. My problem is, like you said, people do these comparisons based on godly higher leveled characters which only like 1/300,000 actually achieve. My worry people are blinded by DPS and dont realize the beneficial results of a Buc or a Marksmen and dont want me as bad. The thing is I know Buc's damage can't be terrible since they have sweet ass attacks, but what good are support skills is noone wants you xd. Furthermore, the reasons you posted Buc's are good bossers is why I went from Corsair to Buc in the first place. The thing is, not all people see it that way as you can tell by this thread based on the DPS of chars and not the other things they bring such as the high HP (which I love by the way after having a bowmen Big Grin.)

Edit: PS: I didn't mean to offend you, I love Marksmen and Buc's. I just hate how people think about them.

Actually, damage comparisons aren't always done based on super godly equips. I do mine based on everything 60%ed all the way, and the tiers for DPS don't change significantly based on the kind of equips you're using.

I realize that Buccaneers are very useful at bossing for their support skills, though a lot of others don't...

1/1 does what sharpnel [or w/e] said and seemed most logical

Whatever damage you take from a 1/1 is the damage the ship takes.

If you have 5001 total hp, full hp, and take a 1/1, you take 5k and your ship takes 5k

If you have 5001 total hp and you're at 2501 hp and take a 1/1, you take 2500 and your ship takes 2500

I can post SSes is necessary.

Yeah I wish people would see that but I am a Marksmen, I have a White Knight, and now I'm going to be a Buc hopefully, so it's nothing new to me Big Grin. The reason I'm posting all of this is I just needed to think of ways to keep me motivated to level my Buc. Thankfully, some of you helped me realized that I became a Buc for those support skills in the first place. I just was getting greedy hoping I'd still have that insane DPS too xD.

I is greedy.

If you bring a pirate to a boss, I would assume that you prepare them adequately, just as you would bring a DrK and a Bishop in the Sin/Bowman party, you would put two Buccaneers, two Corsairs, a DK and a Bishop in the "Pirate" party, so that your Pirate stays on the boat and gets reset and the Buccaneers stay in constant Super Transform. :f6:

Maxed Time Leap has a 20 minute cooldown. You would need 6 Buccaneers to do that thing Devil was all hyped about and that will probably never happen on a legitimate server.

Main purpose of time leap is for res. Everything else is lower priority and shouldn't be used unless the squad like never dies.

I don't think Time Leap is worth enough to put more than one point into, there's just way too many other skills that call for better use.

You end up maxing Time Leap anyways. You max Time Leap and Wind Booster from 18x-200, or something along those lines. Really you only need 11 WB though, because that is when it gives +2 speed.

I know that much -.- I'm saying in a more realistic manner for a majority of your time you'll leave TL at 1 since everything is being maxed, and yes I know infusion stays at 11 I have a pirate. It's the same as me saying "I can put points in dex as a warrior since by 200 I'll have 999 base strength anyways"

Man that would suck. I Quit my regular LUK mage because they never get into bossing parties >:[

Also, I think Fistsforsale in Khaini goes on HT runs, and he is 13x. But you will have to confirm that with him.

Yea, and so do 13x drks

They go as mules.

Going as a mule is at least a step up from not going at all.

Yea, he does. He fights, too. Not just a mule. :]
