How Important Are Rankings now?
#1
I remember when being like the top 20 on your server was something...and the rankings met something to some people and others really didn't care. I've recently gone back to not caring as I watch all the "top legit such and such" threads on that other forum sorta die out except some of the lulzy that somehow survive. With leechers and on-rank hackers...do you think the Nexon ranks are completely useless? People are getting like top 20 rank in a month or two when it took some people a year or two to get there.

Maybe they have always been useless....>_> not many people on MS have gamer pride anyways these days.

The only thing it's useful now nowadays is checking the top 5 players (for nubbies who want to know things), and to see who's hacked. Some guilds check if someone hacked for entry...

Rankings/levels stopped meaning anything the day that 2x came out.

I frequently use it to see how much I went up in the ranks after a training session personally :f6:

I use it as a motivator.. my goal is always to pass the next highest leveled bowman in my server..

Quoted cause it's true.
Another downside for the ranking is the rise of all these Lvl 200's.

Between hackers and the sheer amount of level 200s, or maybe hackers that are level 200, it really doesn't mean much.

It is important to copy new NX looks

I don't care what my rank is. I'm on them and that's all that matters i guess.

=[ Ranks were never completely my motivator.

I remember coming back to MS for a 3rd time...which is now...and like...I would see a person one day who was a level 120 Bm...the next moment I met them they would be 130 within a few days till they essentially passed me. And I'm just left flabbergasted.

And yeah I suppose the ranking system died when 2x came out also.

Rankings were once a sort of inspiration to me... my goal for the longest time was to get into the top 5000 in my server... now I'm in there, and I barely ever check rankings anymore

They are useful if you are trying to work out how legit a person is. While it isn't always correct, being off ranks can be a really good indication, especially if you have other reasons already to suspect them. (Which is why you would be checking ranks for them)

As long as leeching/ 2x EXP is around though, levels are meaningless. A person of a way lower level could have easily put in a lot more effort than one of a higher level

Scania rankings are as pointless as ever thanks to the Ayman leveling service.

Is Ayman a mage that offers leeching or something? :f6: Could you give a bit more of an explanation for those not in Scania? :X

At any rate, I only use them to see how islanders have moved around in the Top 20 and Top 10 in each server. Otherwise, I almost never check them except as a guess to see if an IGN is taken/what happened to the person who took the IGN. Confused

Rankings are only good for h4x0r confirmation. Otherwise, I don't give an asses' balls.

I think they're good for minority groups like perma-beginners or pure-polearm dark knights and such.

Been said many times before, but yeah, the moment 2x came out, the general ranks from NEXON meant nothing. The moment Fame hacks, those ranks lost meaning too. And the moment 4th job was release, lvl 120-140 pretty much lost all since of accomplishment. I didn't really care about ranks even when 2x wasn't out as far as levels were concerned since I never saw this game as exclusively a grindfest.

However, once I found out that I was already in a position to be one of the top 10 questers just by doing what I normally do, I started concerning myself with those ranks quite a bit. Seems people would care about things like ranks if there were actual reasonable means of getting into them.

Ranks were kind of an inspiration a while back and it's interesting to see who you've passed and yet to pass on ranks. Also fun to stalk your friends' level at times...

It's a Power Leveling Service. You pay, and Ayman/Coworker logs on your account and trains for you.

No. They aren't as important as they were.

It used to be an accomplishment/status thing. Now that there is a bunch of level 200s. No one can really be #1 of anything anymore.

I don't see on-rank hackers as the issue of why it's not important anymore. Even when they didn't take hackers off the ranks it was still something. You just had to keep track of who was legit, and memorize the names of the people you saw hacking. I don't see any current hackers in the Top 100 of Khaini, ex hackers? Maybe.

I also don't see how leeching could ruin the importance either. Leeching can only get you to lvl 120, which is considered low-level in the High-level community these days. It's not as big of an accomplishment as it was back then. You can easily get to 120 with all the new monsters these days. Leeching doesn't even really speed it up that much, if you know the right places to train normally.
It's not like people still have to level off Grims, or Gobies/Squids, to get to 120.

You could leech forever if you wanted to; no one's stopping you at 120.
