TERA Online General : Now Free to Play
I was thinking of giving this a try this week. Just installed it, but I haven't started yet. I was thinking some delicious loli Ellin Lancer or Warrior action. I prefer to play solo, and I would enjoy a class with a decent variety of skills to attack that don't have long cooldowns or whatnot. I think the Warrior fits this bill better? Any words of advice?

I havent played since Beta. I heard that if youre playing F2P you can't trade or make a guild.

That was before, when the game had a Discovery Edition limited up to a certain level.

They removed the restrictions, you'll have full standard access now that they transitioned to F2P. Basically F2P is just what TERA was already, with minor limitations like character slots and bank inventory.

Elite gets perks like higher queue priority and such.

We also had Masterwork Alkahest and Spellbind obtainable in-game on the NPC vendors called Specaility Stores. Now spellbinds are only gotten through the Cash Shop and Extensive Alkahests are also gotten through the Cash Shop. Masterwork Alkahests are only obtained via limited dungeon drops and events. Founders also get queue priority, not ElitesWink The Founder benefits are awesome, max bank tabs, queue priorities and what seems to be an exclusive mount for awhile and that's all I remember Sad

Can't offer any insight to JoeTangSad All I have in terms of experience is a low level warrior, I always play on my Archer.

Soloplay, the only way to go is Lancer. They are the only class that can solo EVERYTHING. I've heard tell of one that solo'd MCHM with the new Kelsiak fire-stun necklace and full VM set on KTera, but no confirmation on that. However, there IS video proof of them able to solo both ACHM and MCNM. Elin warrior has the best moveset animations though...

Warrior has a ton of skills and low CDs, but can't really solo quite the same unless you have the reflexes of a god and under 20ms latency at all times, since they take a ton more damage due to leather.

As an 155 Archer, I can't solo any BAMs near my level. I also died soloing a Kuma in ToT. Although it's my fault for sucking and not doing dungeons lol In other news, finally +11'd my bow:3 Only took 6 tries.

Odd, Archer is one of the better solo classes according to my friend, the only issues they have is with bad collision detection on BAMs causing trample death. He and I duoed Traverse before as zerk/archer, we constantly duo ACNM/LoT/ET, and he can solo everything including world boss BAMs on the overworld...aside from that unique quest mob sphere dude in Kanstria with a 25m AoE range.

If you bought a physical/digital copy of the game, you are a founder and not restricted in any way, you just don't have the daily perks and stuff of elite. Still a huge step over what F2P only users get.

Yeah, I suck that much LOL I'm very good when the BAM isn't aggro'd to me though:3 It's most likely when they aggro to me, I run around like a chicken with it's head cut-off. Hopefully I can get better at soloing thoughSmile

welp, it's the beginning of the end I suppose. Servers are unresponsive as hell every time nexus starts, and now today some are speculating that some hackers found some GM commands; a couple servers got spammed with server notices then were turned on and off repeatedly.

On the plus side, I bought some +12 royal grips for 75K a few days ago, crit/crit/power/power/power. My damage is up, but more importantly, holy crap my crit rate is retarded. With greater keen on, I crit 21 times IN A ROW on a 60 BAM while grinding for vitriols. With greater keen and carving V scroll, I landed crit every hit from 100% to 0%. Crit must have been buffed more as it gets higher or something, because I feel like a 6x crit glyphed slayer.

Well, I can reliably solo ACNM now, which is a lot more fun/better than LoT/ET. But APPARENTLY, Kelsaik's Nest got buffed tremendously. Before f2p people could solo/duo it; I went in there and tried to solo on normal and it did not go well. Afterward, I found out that even a full party of well geared 60s can wipe in NM now, because they added the KN raid functions to the KNNM/KNHM.

Still haven't been to MC even though my ilvl is now 160; too many bad zerkers out there making the few good ones look bad, I only know a handful of zerks that get taken to HM, and I'm better than all of them at pve, aside from Jekhar maybe.

oh yeah, and I've started soloing 60 WBs just for giggles, to see if there are any I can't take at this point. So far, no; killed the chicken raptor thing in Tirkai's skyfield, the floating plates guy in Argonea that circles the generator, and the vulcan in Val Elenea/Tor Exsul. Hardest was the plate dude because of all the adds he spawns, but I still never had to use any potions. I really wanna kill the guy in Khanovar to get that Red Reaver title.

Sounds interesting. Can you still buy a copy to be a founder now that the game's free to play?

There are people around that may be willing to sell a founder code. Some people bought like 20 copies back when they were giving out like 30K gold in stuff per copy. Otherwise...I don't think so.

I did a little bit of digging around. I guess you can still get one by using a box copy of the game that hasn't been redeemed yet, but nobody's selling digital copies anymore. They also unsurprisingly went from being $10-$20 at retailers to being sold by individuals for $60. Looks like I missed the boat on this one.

It's probably just as well, though. I've heard the game's miserable if you don't have a good internet connection, which is the main reason that I was looking into branching out into different games. I don't think this one's gonna be a winner in that category anyway.

When was this? I did KN a few days ago on my Lancer (can't remember when, but it was no more than a week ago). If that's true, then that's hilarious.

Hell, I have close to 100 MCNM clears across my four 60's. Still not a single HM clear, but my group got her to 2% twice in a row. So close D:

HOW. WHAT THE pineapple AM I DOING WRONG. I've got at the very least 50 fails on MCNM and still no clears. That pomegranate is absolutely impossible, meanwhile I can trio ACHM with no issues whatsoever...with the latency in this game, all my skills don't work when I really need them to, or they do work and manaya just throws a big pineapple you at us and kills us all anyway. I've had that happen 6 times now; we did everything right and she just decided to use burst anyway. And nothing is more enraging when you are 35m from her and explosion still hits you, then your corpse pops up like 15m from her.

And we finally cleared MCHM. We got her on our second try tonight. First try of the day we got her to 2%. Finally got the Queenslayer title on my Sorc. Wee. Honestly, the hardest part of the whole fight is the last 8%.

Last 8% is all DPS race right? Anyway, congrats, that's a pretty big thing, I still wish I could manage it; I'm gearing and glyphing my mystic now and switching to her I think, since zerker is worst in slot for MC anyway.

Well, her entire phase 2 has a 15 minute timer on it. The last 8% is hard because she gets a permanent power buff and by that point in the fight, she already has 45%? increased attack speed. All she'll do at that point is target someone, go underground, pop up and throw a pool on them. She'll do that non-stop until she's dead. She'll also do her stand-up animation for the waves when it's time. On normal, the power buff goes away after 30 or 40 so seconds and is weaker, I think.

The party composition we cleared it with was a Lancer, Priest, two Sorcs and a Zerker. What's funny though is that the Zerker is an alt. His main is a Slayer. That was the first time he's ever brought his Zerker into MCHM. Our DPS was lower because he was spending more time avoiding her 1 shot kill attacks than attacking. Shortly after we killed her, the message telling us 15 minutes has passed popped up. We were cutting it too close xD I'm still so excited that we killed her, finally.

The way most people I know handle that is, they don't break 8% until she's doing something that takes her a while to do, like waves or shield.

Oh yeah, and soon priest is getting a huge buff on Energy Stars, so that comp will be a lot easier after that.

Yeah, that's exactly what we did each time. We break her shield and try burning her as far as we can. We usually get her to 6% while she crawls away and powers up. This guide http://tera-forums.enmasse.com/forums/pl...naya-Guide helped me and my group to know exactly when waves, shields, etc were going to happen. Makes the fight a lot simpler. A lot of it applies to normal mode as well.
