Root Abyss Boss Mechanics
I think queen's breath attack distributes damage between all players that get hit. Usually when I get hit with someone else I survive but alone I get killed.

I saw 18000 each with a few getting hit by it (2 or 3). Definitely 1hkod me when I was the only one stuck in it.

I still have no idea how to predict the queen's DR, kinda a pain. The breath attack's distinctive. Is DR when she puts her hands together like praying?

Completed the Root Abyss quests for the 4 bosses and got this... when I said no, I got stuck in the cutscene.

Just be cautious when shes like [Image: 23cbH]

That's when she has the possibility to DR. Just attack during animations when you know she wont be dr'ing or you can look for when she puts her hands together, thats the animation for dr.

she always seems to do DR once she switches to the form that does it, and some time after. i haven't paid attention to the timer during that (and i should), i just look at her more often. maybe around 10 seconds or so?
sort of a pain since she knows where the characters ARE when using her sucking death hole move, rather than targeting puppet/etc. that's the only move which does that

with one person in the crossfire i was hit for 18000 which i can survive under a health boost potion, but it happened too rarely for me and i don't need to waste something like that.

Pretty sure the Queen always does the Damage Reflect twice during her "weeping" form, once very shortly after she switches into that form and once again before she finishes.

I've always managed to avoid it, I just watch for when she starts praying, I find that form the easiest.

Then jumpcast Finishing Blow. Nothing from Von Bon actually kills my BaM as long as I remember to pot after every hit though.

I just watch for the message "Feel my pain!" and stop attacking 2-3 seconds after, then attack for 5 seconds after the bubble disappears.

The Queen has a phrase she says before switching modes or using DR and the flame breath. I know the flame phrase is "to ashes" or something of the sort. I dont remeber the DR phrase, something along the lines of "feel my pain". The DR text is blue boxed

Pain in the ass to do anything other than Von Bon on Aran. You are close range, you have no stat res. and you can't move during buffs that have way too long animations for bosses like these. Add a little lag and the fact that Aran is most likely the SLOWEST class at the moment and it makes it more than challenging unless you have a godly range. Not to mention you need to do the goddamn normal attack every single time you swing. If the boss runs away before you strike any more hits on him, then you need to normal att again.

Pretty sure it's not any better for the good old adventurers. Oh but if you happen to be opf'ucker like AB or Kaiser, or a godmodepremiumclass DB, you need NO STRATEGY at all.

(Was going to post this to the Angry Dome, but didn't want to make a new thread for my little rage, because I have so many of them about the flaws of Aran at the moment)
It's not other classes being overpowered, or Root Abyss being bad, it's just that Arans are bad.

DB's don't dodge these bosses, they 100% smack you (actually for whatever reason only chaos mode has 100% and normal mode most or half the attacks have 100% while the rest don't). Any job with teleport or FJ (or anything similar) can dodge these bosses easily enough. Like so many said though, its mostly DPS issue.

After seeing her do it on my nubs about 2-3 times, you notice her hands raise or something. I'll try get a SS or something later if I can then. It's actually as simple as watching VL use DR. It's about 2-3 times more reliable then the "feel my pain" message, which I tried to follow at first. When she does call it out she does DR, but she doesn't always use that as a starter.

Just wondering, does Von Bon and Vellum in GMS still reset every 24 hours? Because I think recently since the striker's update, KMS changed to all bosses resetting at midnight.

they are resetting at midnight but i'm not sure the exact date when this started.
i have been able to for the past few days get in earlier and earlier with vellum/CHIKEN

For a couple of weeks or so Von Bon and Vellum have been under the "Midnight Reset" timer for some reason.

Not that I'm complaining, it means I can go whenever I feel like it and not be restricted.

Ok, here you go, a SS for you people that don't even know what DR looks like and don't even know when she does it. Look at her arms, that's how you know.

I've been daily running all 4 bosses for a couple days now.

Overall, they're pretty easy for me to solo. Puppet does a really good job of distracting them (except Vellum sometimes) so I can just hammer away with hurricane from behind them and completely ignore all attacks.

The only thing that occasionally gets me is when Puppet loses aggro at Vellum (I haven't found the pattern yet) and DR at Bloody Queen. She always raises her hands for both OHKO flames and DR so I try to keep her face on the screen and just stop attacking until I see flames or DR ends. What's occasionally very annoying is I'll run away from her if I get hit with the darkening skill because I can't see. Then I'll go back and the flames will kill me before I can even see her.

My advice for BM/MM's at Vellum: You need to actually use slightly DJ before the yellow circle appears or you will still get hit. I usually face one way and DJ at the last second (a simple 3 count from when he burrows), then turn around to attack him from behind. Then DJ again, in the opposite direction from before, and repeat. The timing is tricky, but it seems like the best strategy since I find he occasionally completely ignores puppet.

Satellite; Fortunately mobile bosses are a joke with Puppet for BM/MMs! Even our inferior adventurer damage is sufficient when I don't have to bother dodging attacks.

vellum and puppet really don't work together. i still put it down anyway.
i can solo all of them as well.. vellum i can do with maybe 3-4 minutes left

puppet makes the other three smooth sailing - vellum also makes a distinct sound when he is coming up to cast fireballs, if anyone has noticed.

i don't have strategy for vellum either, i just time it so i don't get hit i guess

The only time I die is when the queen does her seduce. Skill lock + seduce is certain death.
I really don't know how to escape this. Does anyone have any tips?

Hope your party members break the mirror before you hit it.

After she summons the mirror (finger up with heart atop), you ought to seek it out yourself and destroy it and just forget about attacking her for awhile. I've never had any issue soloing if I recognize the animation and find the mirror, be careful you don't FJ or teleport into it while looking though.

Get an Aran with Combo Tempest & Combo Unlimited and spam it far away. My Aran (90k range + 35% boss) can crush it in just two combo tempests.

Or use Soul Seeker and other long-range attacks. The mirror can't seduce people when you fight it from a long distance, and even when you get seduced, your members will probably destroy it before you touch the mirror.

this. however if she spawns it on top of herself i can get seduced since inferno is pineappleing horrible. it may be hard for some other classes as well since at first it may be on the other side (but its really not, lol dead)
however ranged can probably be out of her clawing range by then and just will out of it. i haven't actually bothered using hero's will there for some reason

i'm honestly not sure of the mirror's seduce range. if i did not kill it in time when it's on top of her it happens
