A smidge late, but I think I can clarify a bit more why this change was made:

In Korea, V-day is the day where the GIRL gives chocolates to the BOY.(Only if they're in a relationship though.... Cannoneer seems to be trying to get one.)
In America, typically, the BOY gives chocolates to the GIRL.

The BOY giving the GIRL chocolates is white day, not Valentine's day....
So basically Cygnus is going to give chocolates to Neinheart in KMS and Phantom gave her the chocolates in GMS...

So I don't think it's much of a shipping battle between the two, but rather a shift in ideas on how the ships are considered. I don't see Phantom liking Cygnus like that to be honest, but I don't exactly see Neinheart trying to give chocolate to Cygnus either....Phantom would probably do it just because the guy is a bit of a romanticist....
