TERA Online General : Now Free to Play

I'd really like to play this game but I've been waiting for the confirmation email for 3 hours and asked for a re-send 5 times.

game has been screwed up for half the day, servers are dead. should be ok now.

Just got back into TERA last night, and I am so lost.

I already have a Preistess up and running, but I wanna make another magic user. Anything that's a fast attacker? And what race is most suitable of a match?

Lancer and Warrior are the only classes that are at a large disadvantage if they aren't Elin, the rest are whatever you want. Castanic archer seems to have better attack speed than other races. Fastest attacker is warrior by a longshot, though it is definitely the hardest class to use correctly. I have a 60 warrior and it took me a bit before I could solo BAMs very well with it.

3m longer thrust range, smaller hitbox. So yes, they are better. 2m longer range on 3 main attacks elin warrior, too.

The only weakness of elin is that 2 bosses, both in Balder's Temple, go over their hitboxes for block. And nobody farms BT anymore, so nobody cares.

Oh, neat. I knew the attack range on melee classes was somewhat based off what race, but you'd think with the Elin being small as they are that they'd have a reduced range. Good to know about ranges if I go into PvP though.

Their attack animation has them doing a full extension thrust, whereas most of the other races just do a simple jab. Ironically, Baraka, the largest, has the shortest range, 3m, compared to elin's 7-8m. Baraka might be nice for zerker with their full heal racial and no noticeable range loss, though.

Me and my IRL friend started it since it's free to play now. I made a Baraka Berseker and enjoy it so far (the combat is a bit slow, though, but I heard it gets better at higher levels). I'm currently level 17. Oh, another thing I've noticed is that the NPC's and other characters in Arcadia don't load properly and it gets annoying on the eye.

The only leeching I know of is, once a character hits level 55, they can leech exp off of 59-60 BAMs and make a ton of exp. That's just a few levels though, so...not sure.

Hit level 19 last night.

When i tried Archer in beta i didn't like it, but now I'm trying again with a different race I'm liking it. Castanic are more sexy too.

INFLATION. Holy crap guys, since patch I've already made over 35K raw gold just from fucking dailies. THEY ALL LAUGHED AT MY ACCOUNT OF CAPPED LEVELS, BUT WHO IS LAUGHING NOW.

Archer post patch is easy as balls, by the way; I've solo'd BAMs to 46 already, and already taken down some world boss BAMs 3-4 levels over me just for kicks. Don't need even need potions when you never get hit! Sorc on the other hand is a disappointment in the mid-levels, I can barely solo anything on this crap even compared to my healers; takes too much damage and does too little too slow.

Went to MCHM last night on mystic and made it up to phase 2 before they gave up; I wish they hadn't, I want to finally get that title so people will give me a passing glance when looking for HM members. I think we could have cleared it given time, but we definitely can now, since today I got my 30% heal on cast mote glyph, and I have 83K HP with this setup, since anarchics are silly and useless on phase 2 of queen, as her main damage source cannot be mitigated.

Wattttt i've tried to solo basilisks, the big budda looking things and the fimbrilisks and they all wreck me horribly
I ended up partying for the basilisks, skipped the buddas and noone wants to party with me at fimbrilisks...

Also the server lag on EU is horrible. Be on a low channel, kill a monster and wait 5 seconds for it to actually die and drop anything <_<

Kumas and Fimbrilisks are actually two of the worst BAMs for archer, so early levels can suck a bit.

I imagine once i get some more levels of Poison Arrow it will be easier to solo stuff? Seems like a really good skill to stack up on bosses.

I just started playing today since it's free now . I have noooooo idea what to do at all. I'm starting completely blind. Is there anything I should absolutely know to keep myself from screwing myself?

That's not the main reason, no. Though poison is overpowered at low levels. Main reason is, monsters that get up in your face will always pineapple up archers and especially sorcs.

Not at end-game.

The DoT will be too little and the time spent would be better be used for avoidance mostly then our skills: RoA, Explosive Trap, Radiant Arrow and Penetrating arrow followed by w/e you you can squeeze into the cool-down periods.

As an 155 Archer, I can't solo any BAMs near my level. I also died soloing a Kuma in ToT. Although it's my fault for sucking and not doing dungeons lol In other news, finally +11'd my bow:3 Only took 6 tries.
