Do you spend real money on NX?

On average I'm spending 200-300 a month on my addiction.

In my opinion, many elite people to spend lots of money on nx. The average "pr0" person spamming all-cap hits did buy tons of nx to get to the point where he is, but claims it's from "merching," but I feel like most is from NX and hacking/botting on side accounts. I don't know why people would hide the fact that they can afford to spend so much on a game, but whatever...
On the other hand, there are the other legitimate people who dedicate their maple lives to merching and bossing, and I respect that.

Me: I buy some only at good opportunities, like nx sales.

My NX buying comes in bursts. For the most part I try to stick to $20/mo, but sometimes I get more than a little greedy for power in this silly game and go over the limit (like this month for example, ugh)

I really, truly, cannot afford to push it too far though, or I don't get to eat/can't pay bills. Nothing quite like adult responsibility to keep a person in line.

I should also point out I did spend several grand ($5+) on NX/iTCG cards before potential came out.

The stacks of cards I have at home frightened me until I found out my roommate spent over $4000 on alcohol and marijuana last semester.

I don't feel bad about it anymore.

I've spent a fair amount 'cause it's been a while since I was near enough to the top tier to actually profit from anything you can do ingame. (doesn't help that they made my characters obsolete, one AB can replace the sum total of all my effort and thus has more earning potential)

I'm in my 20s, I am saving over a thousand a month, $60 on MS is not a problem for me.

[MENTION=8017]CrazyForDex[/MENTION]; I wish my other equips could keep up. Those pants originally cost me 2b when they were rare. I used epic pot then maybe 15 reg cubes for unique 9% dex. Last time Nexon gave out free cubes, a friend offered to use his 2 on pants and they went legendary with 21% dex. Another 2.1b for the hb neb. It was scrolled entirely with p. chaos from hot times and clean slates from events.

So 4.1b and ~15 reg cubes netted me a $300 pair of pants. I doubt I will ever be that lucky again. Although, I hope I can be that lucky using the free cubes from current events on my Tempest ring...

Agreed. These average pr0 fame-whores aren't doing it in the most honest of ways (I've got 2 or 3 people in mind). They probably don't admit it since they're ashamed of themselves or are too platypus to get caught.

Yes, maybe $20 every other month or so for events and my own personal use (i dont sell it). I cant really afford to buy it with mesos and I follow the ToU.

I want to bring up another point as well, because it is an underlining issue no one seems to see. You made a lot of funds because of an exploit, although nothing intentional, you were stuck in the alien pq room and managed to collect items no longer obtainable. A lot of the step ups or huge pushes are just being lucky and gaining some edge over other players, maplestory is not a game you can work hard and suddenly get rich anymore. Especially since the free market really requires NX.

I have never understood the hate associated with buying NX.

As a girl, I see my girl counterparts spend thousands on purses, shoes, and jewelery. Expensive fashion doesn't charm me so I spent that equivalent on NX instead. It's all relative. Similar to what Marksman Bryan said about the marijuana/alcohol point.

OT: In the past, enough to use the prepaid cards as my bedroom wallpaper. Now, meh. $25 a month. Occasional $50 splurges if there's good sales.

I just returned to maple after a 3 month hiatus. Within 2 hours of being online I bought 25k NX. WHYYYYYYYYYYYY. I can't really afford it but I'm addicted. I've spent well over 6k since 2007.

I haven't spent more than ~$20 in the past year I've been playing, but I spent quite a lot before that. I wish I could go through my transaction log and find out exactly how much I spent but I've bought a LOT of NX cards with meso and they all get mixed together. I'd guess around $1500-$2000 in total since I started playing in 2006.

I made a lot of NX from the MTS when that was around (1mil+), and now that I've been introduced to FMStory (getting FM1 spots after patches/server checks end) I've managed to be able to afford ~12k NX a week on 2x drop cards and store permits as well as being able to pay for cubes and other stuff without needing to pay with real money.

It's stressful having meso and being completely out of nx though, especially when you have like.. an hour left before your hired merchant expires because you kept buying 'one more cube'. That has happened a few times

Spent around $200 overall from 2006-2008ish, but I've used around $400 -$600 worth of NX overall thanks to surveys.

I'd say I regularly spend $10-$25 a month on nx.
Usually it goes towards cubes, or if I'm playing a new character, looks for that character (cuz I can't play an ugly one!)

My gears have been a slow process of upgrading, aside from my Dom pendant and staff, which were given to me.
As for in game money, I cht and empress on a regular basis.

Spent around $1,800+ since 2006 and I don't regret it.
