I still can't see what the incentive to reaching 250 is. And please don't tell me it's simply to be 'first'. Racing to be 'the best' as quickly as possible defeats the entire purpose of wanting a prolonged gaming experience in the first place.
I don't see what yall's deal is.
Nexon is obviously going to add more content later.
New maps (I want to say they can't expect us to train on one place the whole time.. but... Nexon hasn't done this too well so far. Still, I'm 99% sure there will be more training areas),
different AP scheme/more AP (there's no way they're making Xenon that much better. And they know HP/MP/secondary stat is not the boost other classes want. There is going to be a change to AP.),
5th job (why would we have all that leftover sp?), are all imminent.
Nexon almost never releases things all at once, you should know that by now.

it's a pineappleing game, getting to level 200 was an achievement back then but these people are not "Role models", they simply did something impressive and they got their time of fame from it.
nexon isn't simply going to stop progress because some peachy old players are upset. They probably will do something for the old level 200 players, if they didn't they would piss people off, but people are overreacting so much when we don't even know yet.
people are getting angry and upset and saying "Oh god won't somebody think of the rankings". We know nothing yet, just wait.
With the difficulty of getting ahead in-game comparable (and many might say higher) than GMS, "War Veterans" still befits them, in the Maple climate then.
And it's Nexon, I'm guessing that they're trying to get the most out of new players who don't have historic ties.
Let us pray that they didn't underestimate the spending power of the old-timers. If we all ragequit for real, well then...

And I wonder how many are gonna bet that the high level content won't be worth jack sh it? Especially with the altered HP:EXP ratios.

Of course I know that. But just how are you going to reach level 250 at this point in time? And for what reason. It's kind of silly to expand the limitations cast on characters previously, but then just leave it at that. You're sitting there with no motivation to reach this new, lofty as hell goal with the same old content for goodness knows how long... I mean, if Nexon actually had a start with higher level content with this patch (such as new areas and or a start on the fabled 5th jobs), then that'd be another story. Right now, it just looks like a trap for players to come back to the game and spend more money on it.
As of how it is right now, getting to 250 will not make you stronger (unless you're Xenon. lol). As of the most recent patch in KMSt, the ap caps are the same. If they are going to raise the cap on ap, why not in this patch? How hard can it be just to change a number?
Is it just me who feels this way?

MaplesGrandGM Wrote:Hi there genius... people have their own way of obtaining satisfaction. Some, enjoy merching and making billions. Some enjoy bossing. Some enjoy sitting in Henesys with the load of NX they bought, or just chatting with friends. Some enjoy the top spot, racing to the first place.
My point? Your view of satisfaction, is not equivalent to other people's views, though the goal is the same (self satisfaction), there are way too many different methods to reach that end. Just because you don't see it as satisfying doesn't mean other people don't, and you shouldn't tell people what would satisfy them, as you honestly haven't a clue.
Then again, that's seen a lot around here. People flat out trying to tell others their opinions don't matter, or what their opinions are/how wrong they are. So I can't say I blame you, but perhaps you should look at things through other people's eyes, instead of just seeing things in your own perspective and writing off that of others.
I'm sorry that you feel threatened by what I said, because you're getting awfully defensive about it.
You poisoned the well and used a straw man, though. I'll try to kindly rebut.
All I was saying is that if the only reason people are playing the game is because of rankings, (and this part I was implying) they are going to inevitably be investing more emotionally than they perhaps should because of factors beyond their control (including hacking).
Quote: The grind my friend, and sorry to say, but yes the satisfaction is taken away when others can do it in an illegit manner, and take away your rank. Not all who enjoy the grind, enjoy the top spot, but some do. I enjoyed hitting number 1 Mihile in Bera, not for other people to recognize me, but for my own knowledge that I did it.
By this notion of self-satisfaction: self-knowledge of an achievement should be enough. If you are the first legitimate player to reach whatever level, and you know it (regardless of numbers/rankings/others' perceptions), that alone should be satisfying.
If a hacker beats you to ___ level and takes away your rank, but you are the first to reach ___ level legitimately, does that change the fact that you were the first to do it legitimately? No. And you would know it.

Yeah, I know exactly what you're saying. Why reach 250 right now.
I was just putting it out that the new content will come soon after this level raise. So yeah, it's pointless now, but I give it a month at most before the rest/a huge chunk more is released.

This is how much EXP you need to get from 200 to 201.
The Knights of Cygnus are getting their maximum level increased to 250 as well.
Only 2.20 Billion? I expected more, honestly.

You really should stop complaining and just give them a chance to release some changes. There is no way Nexon would raise the level cap and not adjust skills, ap, and release higher level content to go with it. It hasn't even been 24 hours since we found out about these changes and so many of you are freaking out like Nexon has no idea what they are doing.
They may be incompetent at times, but Nexon knows that it wants more players and revenue and ONLY increasing the level cap while changing nothing else will not give them what they want. If we, the players, don't see something that motivates or excites us to play, then we will quit, simple as that. Nexon is not nearly stupid enough to ruin the gold-mine they currently have going for them.

This, and it's already been mentioned that they have things lined up in preparation for the 10th anniversary. While they're obviously not going to wait that long to release everything and are likely planning to release something even bigger than 5th job changes are going to be coming in the months ahead for sure and the only reason why I don't like this change is because I know I don't stand a chance of meeting that cap even though I'm capable of pulling off 3-4 hour runs but not meeting that cap isn't going to attract the fury of everyone unless the new content does not meet the standards we expect.

Was it even necessary? It's not even like we are so saturated in content that there is no room for more, so they need to expand the cap to make room. The highest content we got right now is future ereve, which they stretched it to fill up lvl 160 to 200. They could have pulled it back to lvls 140 to 160, and added something for lvl 160+.

In before Damien is level 200+ and he buffs all of the bosses to be level 200+. There's your content.
In all seriousness though I do agree with some of the statements that this would help to make the game more interesting for those who have already reached level 200, but at the same time seeing 2 billion needed to get to level 201 basically means that's just another long grind unless they adjust it, and level 250 isn't much loftier than level 200 or what have you if all you did was to repeat the same thing until you're done. There's prestige in racing to level 250, certainly but I wonder if this new level cap may not just make everything more off-putting to the population that isn't level 200 assuming they do nothing to improve training within the 170's to 200's as HoH is not always an option.

Can you really blame me for not putting so much faith in Nexon? Take Unlimited for example. We all thought, since they were buffing the boss difficulty to such an extreme, that they in turn would 'make characters stronger than ever' as they said they would in their promotion for the patch. Later revealed to simply be additional options on weapons, bosses like Cygnus are neigh impossible to defeat, unless you dump your wallet into funding yourself like Limgoon does (and even he had troubles). Or, the whole deal with Crimson Queen right now. The developers themselves said the Crimson Queen would be the potential favorite of the players, but take her down not even a day later due to the 'server instability' she causes (to this day, I have no idea if this is true or not, seeing as I did multiple runs on her with little to no lag). KMS recently released a fix for her. So you'd think NexonAM would give the same fix to us. Ha ha, no. Looks like we're going to have to wait for the next patch for a simple 7 mb fix.
But nevertheless, if everyone is so adamant that Nexon has great things in store for us, then I shall wait and see. All I can say is the content we receive in turn best be enticing.

Still not that much considering it's basically just Pre-EXPlosion curve, but with higher level content.

As exciting as it is, I don't really care about competing against other people in damage or ranks. It's either spending too much or losing sleep over it, so it doesn't seem worth it me, so I pretty much know I won't be at the top from there. It's just that I find the grinding really boring and time consuming even with 2x events and of course potentially drama infested.
I'll join with friends partying if time allows it, but for the most part, I'll just be going at it in my own casual way of killing GPA/bosses daily, random PQs and hunts for quests and items, monster park, and whatever else is there to do besides actual grinding. There are still the probabilities of EXP and storm growth potions being given out at events every now then too. As long as I still enjoy playing a class, I'll probably be sticking with it beyond reaching the cap. I'll eventually get there, even if it takes another 4 years.
