Could someone PLEASE explain to me why we even need 5th job skills? People are already hitting cap with the current skills, what need is there for new ones when in the end it will just do the same and hit cap?
The best they can do for 5th job skills is just giving more boosts and ultimates...

Because the 1% of people out there (such as limgoon and other insane KMS Players) that can hit cap should be the basis for future game updates, right? Just because they can do it that doesn't mean everyone else can even come remotely close. Hitting even the 1mill cap we currently have in GMS is a very daunting task for the majority of players.

I believe Nexon will do something like this.
>Increase level cap
>Release fifth job
>Nerf all previous jobs
NOW YOU HAVE TO HIT FIFTH JOB TO HIT CAP! BWAHAHA!
Really, I wouldn't mind if lower levels hit much lower again. I remember how excited I was the first time I hit 1000 damage with magic claw atlevel 30 or 40, those days need to come back.

By "the way it is now" you mean with a majority of the content un-revamped to highlight the direction of future updates most of which haven't happened yet?
You b'itching about the system makes less sense than your points on the matter.

Good. Now we won't be bringing in scrubs who don't pull their weight, don't know how the boss works, and die way too easily just so we can be sure we have the numbers to make a kill. Because the road to victory in a boss fight should totally be dependent on the number of people you have with you and not the weight that only a fraction of your group is pulling.
Justin Wrote:99% of people out there still won't be able to beat these bosses with 6 man groups of 200s.
I'm sure 99% of 200s being able to access the highest level content no problem makes more sense to you than only the 1% but clearly Nexon doesn't like handouts. Boo hoo.
Justin Wrote:I want difficulty, yes, but forcing someone to spend several grand to even have a chance is just retarded. I don't want soloable bosses either, but the way it is now doesn't even make sense.
You know what's funnier than people spending several grand to have a chance? People thinking you need to spend several grand to have a chance.
ResistGreen Wrote:Well to be honest, I can care less about how it is in KMS. I don't play KMS enough for the level 250 cap to effect me. GMS will get this change sooner or later, and when the time does come, this "problem" will come up.
So to be clear your argument is that this change in korea, where hackers taking the throne is impossible, is terrible because of a problem we have over here in GMS right now?
Reminds me of the time people were saying tyrant gear will be the end of the game because of dupers. Want to tell me the story behind that? It sounds pretty familiar...
The only way hacking is going to be an issue come this change in GMS is if hacks that crop up from xenon, demon avenger, hayato, or kanna aren't fixed in time and even then it isn't f'ucking hard to figure out who hacked to 250, so why do you care?

To summarize: time sink.
Nexon realized that they were digging a hole with all of the new classes, and had to come up with another shotgun approach to keeping people playing this game (and subsequently keep their revenue flowing), in lieu of substantial content. I mean, new classes and a higher level cap does not a good game make.
They should have taken a cue from the likes of Blizzard, etc. and realized that the more new classes you make, the harder balancing is going to be. Not to mention with a potential 5th job, balancing is just all downhill from here.
To everyone complaining about rankings: if all you care about is your ranking, maybe you're playing this game for the wrong reasons. Is that all this is about? Fame and recognition, perceived or otherwise? If anything, it should be for your own satisfaction, knowing that you got to level ___ in a legitimate fashion. Hackers shouldn't diminish that feeling.
One more thing in terms of better content: heaven forbid Nexon actually, you know, revamp questing in this game, which has long been overdue for being reorganized. More quest chains? Quest-only exclusive rewards? Half-decent rewards? Lackluster EXP (save for some of the more recent quests) and the "Quest Specialist" medal doesn't cut it anymore. Executed properly, it could be an enjoyable time sink.

I do wonder if they plan on doing anything with the experience curve again. Getting to 200 is still a pretty huge achievement for more causal players, so do they plan on making that trek easier on everyone, or is Fifth Job going to be the new big achievement like Fourth Job was back before Big Bang?

180 would be 5th or 200(think 1st job 20 levels 3rd 30 etc. etc.) and they will remove 4th job mastery books and ones we currently got will be 5th job ones. i guess

Hi there genius... people have their own way of obtaining satisfaction. Some, enjoy merching and making billions. Some enjoy bossing. Some enjoy sitting in Henesys with the load of NX they bought, or just chatting with friends. Some enjoy the top spot, racing to the first place.
The grind my friend, and sorry to say, but yes the satisfaction is taken away when others can do it in an illegit manner, and take away your rank. Not all who enjoy the grind, enjoy the top spot, but some do. I enjoyed hitting number 1 Mihile in Bera, not for other people to recognize me, but for my own knowledge that I did it. I play this game for the grind. I actually feel like quitting everytime I hit 200 on the newest Warrior. Of course, I do not. Instead I just build up for the next class I'm interested in.
My point? Your view of satisfaction, is not equivalent to other people's views, though the goal is the same (self satisfaction), there are way too many different methods to reach that end. Just because you don't see it as satisfying doesn't mean other people don't, and you shouldn't tell people what would satisfy them, as you honestly haven't a clue.
Then again, that's seen a lot around here. People flat out trying to tell others their opinions don't matter, or what their opinions are/how wrong they are. So I can't say I blame you, but perhaps you should look at things through other people's eyes, instead of just seeing things in your own perspective and writing off that of others.

Not all players are honest enough to work toward a substantially difficult goal such as level 200. For those who are doing it "For their own satisfaction", hacking may come into the equation. The more time you spend agonizing over the way that they play, the less you will enjoy for yourself. Maplestory will never be hacker free. Hackers will always exist, and will always do some thing or another to create imbalance within the rankings and the economy, whether the players and Nexon like it or not. This isn't just the fate of Maplestory, but of all insanely popular games, and especially those who utilize rankings and online play. I know that at least a couple of people will pomegranate this post and retort with something along the lines of "You like hackers! You support them!". That simply isn't the case. I'm just being realistic.
And I agree with AltCtrlDlt through his comment on Blizzard, comparing the way the two balance things. I remember a comment by Dustin (forget the guy's last name) about how they had scrapped the idea of adding more playable races into SC2 because of the complications in game balancing that it could potentially create. More classes does mean more work in that regard, and more difficulty making things fair. If I never saw another new class past today, I don't think I'd enjoy the game any less. In fact, I'd most likely enjoy it more.

You're such an intellectual MaplesGrandGM.
I don't like this new thing at all, actually. I don't want to log on and regrind my characters for absolutely no reason and I don't want to lose my old ranking from my 200 back when it was actually something difficult.

As much as I want them to STOP making classes, I feel I would be a bit annoyed if they stopped revamping the cygnus knights and didn't finish off the NOVA race. After they finish up their current projects though, it is DEFINITELY time to stop releasing classes and make some content worth playing.

There still isn't any proof that you will.
And it's not like you hail your rank around like a trophy. No one does and even if people did it wouldn't mean anything to anyone. I can't see how people can be annoyed at losing something no one considered a challenge since like 2 years ago. Besides, you still got to 200. Something relatively few people do. You still have the accomplishment even if it isn't written in stone for the world to see.

If true...
How about they do it the other way round?
First give us the high level content. Show us new areas with new mobs we can barely hit. Give us bosses that we can't kill, and not just because they have 9000 different ways to 1hko (oh, and block hacks while you're at it). Give us fifth job that goes 170-200, so we can taste the new skills and they can balance them (lol).
Then you can raise the max level.
Doing this thing piecemeal, giving some jobs their fifth advancement long before other jobs get it, gives them an unfair advantage in the race to 250.
And yeah, I do hope they keep a copy of the old Rankings (and oh yeah, they do need to fix them first...). Those people who made 200 back when it was a real challenge, don't deserve to have their achievement totally wiped out.
Just a copypasta from Maplesea.

Quote:No word on level extrapolation is out for the current level 200s. I'm heartbroken. Allow me to fully explain why.
If the likes of MrYandao and Jessbunny are going to be wiped off the charts, this game is going to the dogs. For many of us, they represented that all is still not lost in Maplesea. Hallmarks of the old guards, sheer willpower and perseverance, were still up there to inspire us, to let us emulate such examples, and to be immortalised in the awesome history of the Old Maplesea. The very virtue of hope was still there, like a morning star sparkling in the chaotic night of the Maplesea landscape.
Honestly people, do you really wish for monetarists like Shang being exhalted in the new rankings for 250? To forget who we were, what we were and the very reasons of our existence in-game?
We are losing a reason and a history cornerstone to the various happenings, escapades and memories that was 2005-2007, represented by the harsh battles then between the finest of the finest players, which were immortalised in the ranking. Yet, I still see many players here being flippant about it. Most probably they're newfags who have never seen or tasted the bustling chaos of Ch1 Perion or the Sotong Wars. They probably don't care about this legacy or gift of heritage left behind either.
Removing this cornerstone, in a good note, is the best addiction-breaker Nexon will have given me.
Thank you.

Ok, so if I'm understanding this correctly, absolutely nothing was done to accommodate the new level cap. No AP cap increase, no new skills... nothing. That Root Abyss training area is essentially what HoH is already. Possibly worse if it isn't party play!
I still can't see what the incentive to reaching 250 is. And please don't tell me it's simply to be 'first'. Racing to be 'the best' as quickly as possible defeats the entire purpose of wanting a prolonged gaming experience in the first place.

it's a fucking game, getting to level 200 was an achievement back then but these people are not "Role models", they simply did something impressive and they got their time of fame from it.
nexon isn't simply going to stop progress because some bitchy old players are upset. They probably will do something for the old level 200 players, if they didn't they would piss people off, but people are overreacting so much when we don't even know yet.
people are getting angry and upset and saying "Oh god won't somebody think of the rankings". We know nothing yet, just wait.

lol - I expected this since we don't have enough skills for all the 4th job points and 1st job is 20 lvls, 2nd job is 30 lvls, 3rd job is 40 lvls, and 4th job is 100 lvls (lol). I just hope soon we get the AP max extended so we can keep putting points into primary stat (otherwise characters won't really get stronger, just have better skills or something).
Justin Wrote:I am wondering how they'll address the AP issue as well... 250 more points into HP would be insane.
The Nexon way: Wait for 75% of lvl 200s to be lvl 250. Raise AP cap, wait 2 months, have AP reset sale.

lol I can see it now, lvl 200s keep echo, others have to wait until 250, buy our 2x cards and get to 200 now!
