Root Abyss Boss Mechanics
inemnitable Wrote:I think it's more like, all the root abyss bosses have physical resist most of the time, but Pierre doesn't when you have an opposite colored hat. Or maybe your damage just gets increased, hard to tell.

It's definitely not related to their PDR since I have 100% defense ignore and I still get the effect. I'm fairly certain they are all physical strong. Either that or they're not boss tagged, which seems unlikely.

Hmm I recorded a video of Pierre. The damage from Xenon's virtual projection is greater than the original damage. You can see it from 2:00 onwards

I'm guessing it multiplies skill damage by 2 times? Not sure though

For Pierre, wearing the opposite hat allows you to do extra damage.
Also, I noticed something weird on my Luminous. When you stand on top of Vellum and aim Spectral Light so that it hits his body and his head, it attacks twice (not sure if it's clientsided or not).
Example of what I mean :

Not entirely related to the bosses, but the imps drop runes too.

Yeah yeah, need to DPS more (the 250k noncrits are RB with enrage, threaten and panic active)... it's hard for a hero, cause the margin between "super KB'd when he bursts out of the ground" and "able to attack him in the 2 seconds he's above ground" is a tiny range.

Also the green attack very quickly covers the entire map, and when it ticks I'm a 1hko from his other stuff Sad

These bosses are way more interesting than the classics though.

Can you bind vellum?

Can't bind any of them.

I've seen a DS trying to bind Von Bon, and it could still attack back.

I take half the time on Vellum now after noticing something. At the beginning of the fight, he'll only pop out of the ground and quickly go back in. Idk the exact % but around 80-90% hp left he'll start using the 1hko fireball attack. Once he does that he's a punching bag as he tends to throw out 2-3 fireballs and you can just stand under him or behind him. Until that point it's best to just use heavy burst damage as soon as he pops up (For my AB that means not using soul seeker (long windup time) but rather trinity/roar until his fireball attack comes up).

Anyone know exactly what his poison thing does? I just shrug it off and tank it but it may be a problem during chaos vellum.

From what I can tell, it doesn't actually poison, but you take DoT damage (4k damage per tick) whenever you're standing on it. It doesn't trigger your iframes or anything like that either. Damage reducing abilities seem to work though.
Since he casts that on the entire field, it's pretty hard to avoid it. And standing at random places, especially far away from him isn't a good idea either.

What about the green circles on the ground that are casted right before it? There's like 3-5 or so.

The green circles are where it's gonna pop up next - they don't do damage or anything, just warns you. Vellum on the whole is good at warning what it's going to do, it's just a question of if you can do anything about it. The green fuzz spreads over so much of the map you can't really avoid it.

The poison seems to hit my DB for like 5-6k damage, the actual DoT damage when I sit in the poison only ticks for about 2k damage per second. What takes out most of my hp is when the poison comes down. For those who say the green circles doesn't do any damage, I find that false because it can kill me, if I decide to get lazy and not use pots anyways.

The poison causes damage when it falls if it hits you.

If you fail at a boss (run out of deaths/time), can you re-enter (Magnus style) with another key and try again? Mostly asking for chaos versions.

I believe the nexon site said you can fight the bosses as many times as you want in a day but once you beat it, you have to wait for it to reset. Too lazy to look but i'm 99% sure this is how it works. So yes it is like magnus.

Question: Did von bon + vellum always give the yellow time stamped clear message similar to magnus? I only started noticing it yesterday.

Yeah, the two on the right are on a 24hr reset, while the two on the left reset at midnight (or so I hear for queen - haven't actually gone to her yet)

Has the queen's problem ever been discussed? As to why they blocked it? With proof, that is Monocle

Pierre's tornado still lags the pomegranate out of me.

about the poison:

green circle: warning, here's where it's gonna fall
beam: the poison/shock falls, if you're standing where one of the circles was, you'll take damage
green shock aura on the floor: deals tick damage, like empress phoenixes.

i also lag balls when prierre's tornado ends.

Probably because her animations/attacks were buggy to the point that they were crashing clients constantly.
Also heard something about a channel crash involving her.

You can bind the bosses, but they work like Aswan, in that they keep attacking and moving.

I see.. Well, no one from my party seemed to crash during my 3 runs against her but channel crashing is bad.

That is my favorite boss Frown
