I know I'm AB, so I assume AB+ because - is apparently so rare.

I'm also from asian decent, so that supports the AB+

As far as doctors testing you for free, (for anything,) that probably happens in countries with universal healthcare, but not in America. A blood test requires some sort of machine and staff to draw blood. That means the office needs the machine, and the nurse/nurse assistant must draw the blood. That means they're doing work, and the office will charge you for it.

Trust me, there are worse things in the American healthcare system. In an American hospital, a pill of Tylenol costs ONE THOUSAND times more than a pill of Tylenol out of a bottle you buy at the store. Why? Because for every person with insurance that comes in an American hospital, there's a bunch that are homeless, uninsured, etc. Since the hospital is free to charge anything it wants (the guy is passed out or whatever) they pretty much will. If they didn't, the high volume of uninsured people coupled with the hospital having to treat them would get the hospital shut down.

If you know their genotype, to an extent.

But still, it's not very easy because both your adopted parents could be A type and you might be A type even though you are adopted, that doesn't mean they are your parents.

If your parents' blood type doesn't match yours, it's more likely that, as the song goes, "Your daddy ain't your daddy, but your daddy don't know," not that you're adopted.

Medical staff never believe you know your blood type, anyway. If you're not carrying some official document with the blood type on it, they will either give you O- (if it's an emergency) or take a bit of your blood and test it, and then give you a transfusion of your specific type. If you're conscious and able to say what (you think) your blood type is, it's probably the second case.

If both your parents have AB and you have O, congragulations, you're adopted!

Infact, if one of your parents has AB and you have O, it means that that parent ain't yo parent.

I don't know my blood type, but I know my mom has O, my dad has B(genotype OB), and my older sister got tested and she has O, so I have a 50% chance of being B and 50% being o.

I'm thankful every day now for people who donate blood.

A couple years back I was in the hospital for a mojor emergency abdominal surgery (I had contracted a life threatening infection from a previous surgery) and wouldn't stop bleeding. I needed two units of blood and I was kept in a chemical coma for 3 days in the ICU hooked up to 4 IVs and on an incubator (That's the machine that breathes for you, right?). I would have died without that blood.

It sucks for me that I'm not even allowed to pay it forward and donate blood myself. I was born in Scotland and moved to Canada some years ago, they won't let me donate blood because they think I'm at risk (since I was born there) of having Mad Cow... Failiure logic because I obviously don't.

If you have donated blood, thank you. You've saved somebody's life.

AB Negative. But I just saw AB so I clicked AB + accidently.
I have given blood before, I passed out on all of them. I never intend to give my blood until I can get over fainting. I close my eyes and hold em shut but I still pass out even though I dont look =(.

I'm O+. I've also known this for a LONG time.
