So, yeah. Did anyone else think Princess Mononoke from seeing that Deer Legend?

Jumping on Fennekin bandwagon. Best fire starter design since the first three gens.

The other two were questionable at first, but they're already growing on me. And holy hell, if they really turn out to be Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting, that automatically ranks them among the most interesting starters ever.

I'm seeing a bunch of slowed down battle animation GIFs around the internet. It looks like most of the work has been put into the combat thus far. The amount of detail is pretty amazing.

Quote:It has since been revealed that the games will feature more than 50 new Pokémon and contain an "innovative communication system" called "Real Play".

"People around the world will be able to simultaneously experience 'Real Play'," reads a statement from Game Freaks president Tsunekazu Ishihara (via Gematsu).

"The game uses an innovative communication system that makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world."
Sounds like an interesting step up from the entralink system.

Finally, GF/Nintendo/Whoever is behind such decisions has realized that not everybody lives in areas where stuff like streetpass/meeting up with people in person really doesn't work at all.
Sounds awesome, i hope it lives up to my expectations Smile Pokémon is only funnier when playing with others.

Oh god, both of those legendaries....afswahgbhrhgejnetjnejhn. Amazing. Breaking from the mold though, I think I would actually go for the deer-thingy (Xeareas, or whatever). Of course, I don't actually have a 3DS, nor am I buying one, so...

EDIT: I just realized something. THe grass/dark, fire/psychic, water/fighting types can't work, at least when it concerns your rival. They try to make it a triangle (A defeats B, B defeats C, C defeats A), but the grass types would use dark moves on the fire, the fire would use psychic on the water, and the water would use fighting on the dark. Assuming of course, Nintendo gives a crap about making a triangle. If they don't, then disregard this.

They might keep it single type until 3rd evolution, because by that level, you already have enough types to counter their starter anyway, so it wouldn't matter.

Anyways, I wonder what types of battle facilities they'll have in this version... Hopefully they'll stop being lazy and make some good ones. Battle frontier was the best thing ever, I want something like that in every game. It's like the icing on the cake for me. And trading multiple pokemon/cutting out the trading animation would be nice too.

And like I said before, if we can change appearance and use our pokedollars on something other than stupid potions(well, b/w 2 I was buying ev training and levels from the join avenue Tongue), then I'll cry tears of joy.

I can't decide between Chespin and Fennekin. I like the way Chespin looks more, but I said that about Snivy in gen 5 and I ended up choosing Tepig once I saw the evolutions and movepool. Might end up being the same here. Since gen 3 it has always been a toss up between the grass and fire starter for me. I'm indifferent about Froakie and there are usually tons of other water types to use anyway.

Also I reaaaaaally hope there's trainer customization and 360 degree movement or at least 8 way movement with diagonals (simple 4 way grid movement is awkward with the 3DS analog pad)

ShinkuDragon Wrote:considering the trend, i'd say it stays 4 legs.

What exactly is the trend per say?

Charmander > Charizard. Two legs to two legs.

Cyndaquil > Typhlosion. Four legs to two legs.

Torchic > Blaziken. Two legs to two legs.

Chimchar > Infernape. Two legs to two legs.

Tepig > Emboar. Four legs to two legs.

they seem to like making the fire starter 2 legs, but i felt like this time they'd break out of it and make it 4 legs. i didn't add the last part though ._.
thinking about that, i find it funny that snivy went 2-legs ->no legs

@above: i haven't seen that before actually, and look at that majestic motherfucker. he's arcanine levels of badass.

Two of my concerns, and I bet they've been mentioned are:

Keeping Fenicken from being like Ninetails.
Keeping Froakie from being so alike to the already known frog pokemon.

Chespin looks pretty unique, and I hope they don't screw around with the final forms. I was so upset with Oshawot's final form I was so damn confused. I understood Snivy's but it kinda shocked me how the middle to final evolutions were such big jumps for both Snivy and Oshawot. Tepig was cool tho.

Pure 4 Legs: Bulbasaur -> Venusaur, Chikorita -> Meganium, and Turtwig -> Torterra.
From 4 to 2 Legs: Cyndaquil -> Typhlosion, Mudkip -> Swampert, and Tepig -> Emboar
From 2 to 4 Legs: Oshawott -> Samurott
From 2 Legs to Legless: Snivy -> Serperior

All Grass starters prior to 6th Generation X and Y are reptile starters, while Chespin is a mammal. All fire starters are mammals except Charmander which is a reptile, and Torchic which is a fowl type of an avian. The first two generation water starters, Squirtle and Totodile are reptiles, while Mudkip and Froakie are amphibian. The oddballs are Pipulp falling under an ahsvian category, and Oshawott being the mammal.

Chespin's artwork looks a lot like Rammus from League. Will totally get him if that ends up being the case.

It's funny how my taste are changing. The only time I ever got a grass starter on my first playthrough was Chikorita. By the time we got BW, I couldn't wait to smash through the league with my Snivy nicknamed Smugleaf. Chespin is quickly growing on me. That face is fucking adorable.

Yeah, I agree completely.

Honestly, StreetPass is only really such a useful thing in Japan, and is useless in 95% of America and probably most other locations but I can't speak for them.

It's useful in Japan because most people walk, from what I understand, are walking around all the time, and take portable consoles with them everywhere. One of the reasons MH and PSP became so popular if I remember some quotes correctly.

But that's not the case at least in the US. Most people drive, which defeats the use of StreetPass.

I bet it will turn out to be a case of players know what they want more than GameFreak does.

But, I hope the designs are pretty close to that because each one of them look equally awesome imo.

That went out the window in Gen 3 (Fire/Fighting, Water/Ground, Grass). Gen 4 didn't even care about the primary type advantage, Infernape had neutral/supereffective STABs on Empoleon (Fire/Fighting vs Water/Steel).

And grass had 4x on Mudkip's final evolution. I would actually be very impressed if they did a balanced triangle for the starters, it seems like a good move.

I second that. Though I expected Fennekin to turn out more badass. Froakie is SICK, dat flow. And Chespin actually turned out beast, wow, surprised.
