i just recieved an email titled "Your Invited" from "Maplestory Event Theme", address "MapleEvents@Nexon.com" saying this:

i honestly loled when i saw this. if some1 actually fall to this scam than im a peanut butter jar.
editince the sender was stupid enough to send it to all the recipients in one email (i can see the mailing list, its huge), tons of people are using the reply to all thing to warn everybody its a scam and my mailbox just got bombed. oh well.
Unexperienced people may fall in that scam. If those scams keep going on, that's because at least 1% of people who receive those e-mails, fall in the scam.

but seriously, is he kidding me? maplestorysecret@googlemail.com? and all these spelling mistakes? i could make a better scam hands down.

probably netbots. you know, google-like tools that search the web for strings that match the email form (something@something.something). there are big companies that make loads of money by doing that. they sell people mailing lists sorted by the websites they were found in, so for example, one could buy 200 emails that were found on southperry.net or on sleepywood.net, and by doing that he ensures that the emails he bought are used by people who play maple.
A lot of you think you're smart in that "nosht this is obviously a scam." But this works in the same way as V1@gra ads do. They find a list of a few thousand emails, and since email is cheap, they send spam to everyone. Although most people (maybe even 99+%) are smart enough not to fall for it. But if we had 10,000 people and 99% saw through their scheme, the 1% who didn't (100) would be handing over their accounts to the scammers. 100 accounts for the cost of acquiring a email-list? Not a bad ROI if you ask me (however unethical it might be).
