Nexons Notice to Tyrant Gear

Point being: Nexon knows who is or isn't guilty (for the most part) and no one here is going to go spouting accusations.

@Five Second Pose; isn't the brightest crayon in the box, anyway.

God dammit. Can't get the mention to work. Oh, the irony.

I'm not trying to spread rumor or hearsay, but someone in game just told me scania got a rollback.

Any truth to this?

That would be a little too harsh of an action to take o_O They better not roll everything back, I finally got one of my damn 10% clean slates to work on my shoes LOL

To be fair toward Nexon slightly about this being "yet another illicitly generated item" the way these ones are generated are completely different from the item generator hack that brought about game master items. It is also different from what caused the wave of duped items. However, even with this fairness toward them, this exploit is fairly retarded. The way they are exploiting it, from the limited coding I have done for years in my free time, should have been easily avoided. So do I believe a majority of this can be put on them, yes. However, it isn't as if it is the same story over and over and they just aren't fixing the underlining problem.

I really don't think the economy was affected enough to require a rollback, so that's why I put in that disclaimer. Then again, I am not really in the loop of how many of these capes were generated and sold.

@Five Second Prose; isn't the brightest crayon in the box, anyway.

Clarification for those who are unhappy with that SS.

You don't have to point out/dismiss people clarifying something they feel can be misconstrued.

Also, it's not "Prose": it's "Pose".

Don't know how tradeable these things are, but I feel like they shouldn't have noticed about this. Now these scumbags will sell them to those newbs still ignorant enough to buy them. Hope they'll trace whoever had them in their account at any point before next update and ban them all.

Actually it is. The underlining issue is, and always has been: The server believes everything the client tells it. Or, if you want to be more general about it: the client has far too much responsibility and power.

Anyone dumb enough to buy those things despite the repeated blue in-game notices not to touch them, really deserves to lose their money.

I don't quite blame people who bought them before those notices. As has been pointed out above, not everybody keeps up with changes, and many people just assume it's yet another of those overpowered things Nexon release every other day. I saw quite a few in my alliance get all excited about these items whenever one was smega'ed, and ask where they come from and how to get them. (None bought any, that I know of anyway). But, again, anyone who buys one after the blue notices ... that takes a whole 'nother level of obliviousness.

Yo, go practice drawing something, okay. Justin; It's finals time, leave me alone. Thanks to both of you for pointing out my... Looniness.

Glad to see they're doing something about this relatively quickly.

You're a tad late. People were already getting banned, and I'm pretty sure this USC is meant solely for deleting them. The "pirate fix" is just a ruse and watch as perseverance still doesn't work after the fact.

Sephie; I thought it was apparent from the fact the item mega had a 2x card there that I wasn't talking about him.

This is more, to me anyway, Nexon adding things they shouldn't early on, or worse adding it and not checking what it would do. This glitch wasn't some major find or anything special. It was two bytes (a header) of a packet that Nexon didn't bother to even check that adding it could cause problems or even code a limit to how the header was handled. So instead of returning a null result or DC them, it gave them the reward. Nexon can't help but allow the client to more or less "control" the game, but they should have better checks in place for these things before it is thrown into the coding.

However, I will agree the item generator hack that was around for a while was completely as you say. The client told the server a GM hat was the item being made via the blacksmith, and the server listened.

You only singled out the first smega while categorizing "the rest" so it wasn't really that apparent. If anything, I'm clarifying your choice of words :v, but the SS can still be legitimately misinterpreted so whatever.

I have no sympathy for the people dumb enough to buy them but I sure know some will. This means that the actual exploiters and any1 who can read english enough to understand the notice could get out of this unbanned and even make some profit. Only cause Nexon decided to warn them beforehand.

It's kind of like if the police called a drug dealer that they are coming to check his house so better get rid of the drugs fast.

From what I'm seeing on a certain website, anyone who sent that packet is getting every account tied to their IP banned.
